Max Lucado 40 Days of Prayer 6

God tested Israel for 40 days and they fell into musical idolatry. Satan tested Jesus for 40 days promising him kingdoms and buildings and rulership but He met the test by trusting the WORD or Regulative Principle.

The Spirit OF Christ defined the Church of Christ (the Rock) both inclusively and exclusively. It has a one piece pattern as a School of the Word.  If you have to spend 40 days praying for a MESSAGE from God it may be because you repudiate the Logos or Regulative principle.

Ephraim Syrus On Our Lord notes that Sinai was a test.

18. But when their heathenism from being inward became open, then Moses also from being hidden openly appeared; that he might openly punish those whose heathenism had revelled beneath the holy cloud which had overshadowed them. But God removed the Shepherd of the flock from it for FORTY DAYS, that the flock might show that its trust was fixed upon the calf.

While God was feeding the flock with all delights, it chose for itself as its Shepherd the calf, which was not able even to eat. Moses who kept them in awe was removed from them, that the idolatry might cry aloud in their mouths, which the restraint of Moses had kept down in their hearts. For they cried: Make us gods, to go before us

What They Did. 19. But when Moses came down, he saw their heathenism revelling in the wide plain with drums and cymbals. Speedily, he put their madness to shame by means of the Levites and drawn swords. So likewise here, our Lord concealed His knowledge for a little when the sinful woman approached Him, that the Pharisee might form into shape his thought, as his fathers had shaped the pernicious calf.

Jonah 3:4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said,
Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
Matt. 4:2 And when he had fasted FORTY DAYS and forty nights,
        he was afterward an hungred.
Mark 1:13 And he was there in the wilderness FORTY DAYS tempted of Satan;
and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
Luke 4:2 Being FORTY DAYS tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing:
and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

The 40 days of prayer never asks for God's guidance but always stresses the oppreessed into believing that after 40 days the PREVIOUS AGENDA must be a message from God.

Max Lucado: God calls us to do the same. Over the last few months, I've SENSED our Master urging us to expand our dreams for San Antonio. He calls us to a fresh vision: a vision of a city-impacting church. As the details of this vision crystallized for me, I shared them with our elders. They prayed, pondered, and tested the ideas and, ultimately saw them as God's will for Oak Hills. The purpose of this presentation is to share several strategic decisions that will posture Oak Hills to make, with the Lord's guidance, a citywide impact.  We call you to dedicate the next FORTY DAYS (August 31 to October 9) to prayer, asking God to give us all strength to obey his call. Like the Apostle Paul, we desire to say, "...I obeyed this vision from heaven..." (Acts 26:19 CEV)

THE PUBLISHED PATTERN USEFUL TO OTHERS PLANNING TO "INFILTRATE AND DIVERT YOUR CHURCH AND CHURCH FAMILY INTO THE AGENDA OF FALSE TEACHERS.

Max Lucado: Day 6 Holy and Clean But be holy in all you do, just as God, the One who called you, is holy. It is written in the Scriptures: “You must be holy, because I am holy.” (1 Pet. 1:15–16).

1Pet. 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy,
        so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

1Pet. 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

BE is an active verb: we are not holy because Jesus is holy: we are holy meaning with A holy spirit or A good conscience only when WE obey Jesus.

Jesus commands repentance and baptism FOR or in order to the remission AND the Gift of A holy spirit. Our spirits are UNHOLY and they can be made holy only when we ask Jesus to save us. When Max had a vision and claims to be able to SEE Jesus, Jesus as Holy Spirit had to let Paul SEE Him and hear His Voice to qualify him for writing inspired Scripture.
Acts 22:10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.

Acts 26:15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord?
And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
Acts 26:16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet:
for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose,
to make (prokheir-iz) thee a minister (hupereteo)
and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen,
        and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

As Spirit Jesus of Nazareth would guide the hand-picked apostles into ALL TRUTH to Mark those who do not teach that which is written as FALSE teachers.

Acts 26:17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles,
unto whom now I SEND thee, (apostellō )
Acts 26:18 To open their eyes,
and to turn them from darkness to light,
                (Be Con-verto: be baptized)
and from the power of Satan unto God,
THAT they may receive forgiveness of sins,
                Vulg. Matt. 26, 28; id. Act. 2, 38.—
and inheritance (a lot: elected) among them
        which are sanctified
                hagios  of persons, holy, pure,

Peter who connected BAPTISM with the remission of sins to give A holy spirit says that Baptism SAVES us because we ask for A good conscience, consciousness or the ability to read BLACK text on BROWN paper.

Max Lucado DENIES.
The Spirit OF Christ, Jesus and Peter AFFIRM

And corresponding to that, baptism now saves you-- not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience-- through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21NAS

Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21RSV

(That, by the way, is what baptism pictures for us: In baptism we show that we have been saved from death and doom by the resurrection of Christ;[c] not because our bodies are washed clean by the water but because in being baptized we are turning to God and asking him to cleanse our hearts from sin.) 1 Peter 3:21LIV

Max Lucado: Holiness means set apart, sinless, and perfect. God is holy; we are not. God loves us despite our dirty, sinsoiled clothes. We don’t wear our own; we wear Christ’s. We are covered in his holiness.

A Priest had to accept the sacrifice and be washed or baptized before he could enter into the Holy Place.  Any priest or Levite who held "worship services" or tried to do Rock and Roll music would be promptly executed. A person is holy ONLY when one obeys and follows the pattern of Jesus in obeying the command to be baptized.

We receive CRIMSON GARMENTS only when we have submitted to the FULLER to wash us clean.

Now notice the absolute certainty connecting one who is a BELIEVER as one who has OBEYED whatever it is they have put their TRUST: Pisteuo includes to COMPLY with what you believe. Believeth not is Apistos which is the OPPOSITE of Pisteuo which means "will not comply. Do not trust that you can do what you claim to do. A treacherous person."

Rom. 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel.
For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

The Scripture is loaded with various forms of parallelism: the second part is FOR which mean "what I mean to say" is.   If you quote partial verses it means you intend to deceive.

Gal. 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Gal. 3:27 (What I mean to say is) as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Not: We are saved BY faith "only." That PROVES that you do not have A holy spirit or A good conscience or consciousness which means a CO-perception, to be informed of. Paul told the Jews they would not be able to read or hear the Old Testament until they turned or converted to Christ.  Jesus equated converted to baptism and Luke recorded baptism to being converted.

Max Lucado Why God does not hear the prayers of a sinner:

Once we have been cleansed white as snow, we can stand next to God in pure, holy garments.

The Spirit OF Christ defined baptism and Mark 16 repeated that promise.

REFLECTION What happens when you see Jesus, when you devote your life to him?

Matt. 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Matt. 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,
he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

1Pet.  1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

1Pet. 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father,
        through sanctification of the Spirit,
unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:
Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

1Pet. 1:3 Blessed be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again
unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1Pet. 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

1Pet. 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1Pet. 1:6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

Max Lucado: REFLECTION What happens when you see Jesus, when you devote your life to him?

1Pet. 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

1Pet. 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not,

yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Max Lucado claims that we are "saved" by Faith Alone without Baptism: His Baptist pastor affirms.  However, salvation always means to be MADE SAFE from the religious spectacles Max promotes.

Faith as Pistis means TO COMPLY: He that believeth AND is baptized SHALL BE saved.
He that believeth nor ot Apistos means "I do not HAVE to comply."

1Pet. 1:9 Receiving the END of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

1Pet. 1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently,
who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

Titus.

Max Lucado claims that the Spirit OF Christ is another person who guides him beyond the sacred pages.  There is ONE GOD the Father and ONE LORD Jesus Christ: God made Jesus TO BE both Lord and Christ.  God BREATHES only into the prophets and apostles as the Spirit OF Christ.

1Pet. 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

John 6:62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:
the WORDS that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

1Pet. 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves,
but unto us they did minister the things,
which are now reported unto you by them
that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost
sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

1Pet. 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

1Pet. 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

Ephesians 4

1Pet. 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy,
        so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

1Pet. 1:17 And if ye call on the Father,
        who without respect of persons
judgeth according to every man’s work,
pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

1Pet. 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that
ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold,
        from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

1Pet. 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1Pet. 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
but was manifest in these last times for you,

1Pet. 1:21 Who by him do believe in God,
that raised him up from the dead,
and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

1Pet. 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls
in obeying the truth through the Spirit
unto unfeigned love of the brethren,
see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

1Pet. 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed,
but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

1Pet. 1:24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

1Pet. 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.
And this is the word [LOGOS] which by the gospel is preached unto you.

1Pet. 2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
1Pet. 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
1Pet. 2:3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
1Pet. 2:4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
1Pet. 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
