The Discipling Dilemma Again
Jimmy Adcox, Russ Adcox,
David Young, Stan Grandberg: Kairos is Antichrist. The
year ad 2000 is well documented in real prophecy. C.
BC 4000 is the date when the Sumerians (the Cain people)
collected all of the people and their animal and food
producing property and sold the free animals back to the
people. The priesthood performed rituals which appeased the
gods and kept the people safe. The praise singer or
encomiast was purpose driven to keep the gods from
failing--again. You brought your tithes to the towers of
Babylon: the later Temple at Jerusalem was God's abandoning
the people to Babylonianism because of the instrumental,
trinitarian PLAY or musical mocking at Mount Sinai.
The Kingdom of God is
within you and does not come with observation:
meaning religious services as IMPURE Threskia or religion.
You are commanded NOT to give them money for the free water
of the Word. While protected FROM religion as an
UMBRELLUM the singular PATTERN is to Read and Meditate on
the Word of God, the LOGOS or Regulative Principle which
excludes ALL religious craftsmen such as speakers, singers
or instrument players. Jesus calls them hypocrites (Scribes
and Pharisees). He also said that God HIDES from them.
The only SPIRITUAL Covenant
is made with the laos or laity excluding priests or
Levites. Jacob commanded everyone not to attend the
assemblies of the Levites nor to enter into their covenant.
Jesus as Spirit gave APT
elders to "teach that which has been taught." He gave no
ROLE nor DOLE for "leadership" claiming authority to destroy
the REST and fleece the widow's purse. There is no law of
tithing nor law of giving. Those who demand money to PLAN
for you are called thieves and robbers: He is called Hermes
or KAIROS.
ISIS
is the Mother of the Egyptian Trinity. All pagans
believed in a father, spirit (mother) and infant son. John
said that ANTICHRIST denies that there is ONE GOD THE FATHER
and ONE LORD the MAN Jesus of Nazareth.
Plut.
De Iside and Osiris Apollo,
and some call him also the elder Horus
Plut.
De Iside 3 Moreover, many writers have
held her [Isis] to be the daughter of Hermes,
and many others the daughter of Prometheus,2
because of the belief that Prometheus is the discoverer of wisdom
and forethought, and Hermes the inventor of grammar
and music. For this
reason they call the first of the Muses at Hermopolis
Isis as well as Justice. Isis discloses the
divine mysteries...It is a fact, dea, that having a beard and
wearing a coarse cloak does not make philosophers, nor does
dressing in linen and shaving the hair make votaries of Isis
[Galli or Catamites]
2 Cf. 365 f, infra, and
Clement
of Alexandria, Stromateis,
speaking of Hermes or KAIROS
The devil is called "thief and robber; "having mixed false
prophets with the prophets, as tares with the wheat.
"All, then, that came before the Lord,
were thieves and robbers; "not absolutely all men, but
all the false prophets, and all who were not properly sent by Him. For the false prophets
possessed
the prophetic name dishonestly, being prophets, but prophets
of the liar.
For the Lord says, "Ye are of your father the devil; and the lusts of your father
ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and
abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own; for he is
a liar,
and the father of it."
But
among the lies, the false prophets also
told some true things. And in reality they prophesied "in an
ecstasy, as" the
servants of the apostate. And the Shepherd, the angel of
repentance, says to Hermas, of the
false prophet:
"For he speaks some truths. For the devil fills him
with his own spirit, if perchance he may be
able to cast down any one from what is
right." All things, therefore, are
dispensed from heaven for good, "that by the Church
may be made known the manifold wisdom of God,
according to the eternal foreknowledge, which He purposed in
Christ."
Hermes: Born with
the dawning, at mid-day he played on the lyre, and in the
evening he stole the cattle of far-shooting Apollo on the fourth
day of the month; for on that day queenly Maia bare
him. Hermes is also the god of shepherds, land travel,
merchants, weights and measures, oratory, literature, athletics and thieves, and known for
his cunning and shrewdness.
He was also a minor patron of poetry. He was
worshiped throughout Greece especially in Arcadia.
Festivals in honor of Hermes were called Hermoea. Originally Hermes was a phallic
god
ISIS
is far less dangerous: they can only cut off your head.
However, they intend to TRANSISTION your property into the
INSTRUMENTAL SECT. Islam, the Jews and apostate
christians conspiring to "infiltrate and divert your
congregation" to Devil or KAIROS worship are devoted to Semiramis.
SHE was included in the pagan Babylonian
trinity as the holy spirit or seed of the divine son in
his mother's womb... The Egyptian mother and child
were worshiped as Isis with the infant Osiris or Horus seated
on his mother's lap. In Egypt, as the "queen of
heaven" she was the greatest and most worshiped of
all the divinities. During Egyptian bondage, the Israelites
repeatedly departed from the one true invisible Elohim and
worshiped the pagan mother. When the Israelites fell into
apostasy under King Solomon, they worshiped this mother
goddess as Ashtaroth (Asherah), a name by which the pagan
Babylonian goddess was known to the Israelites: Homer
Hymn to Hermes.
And the people of
Israel again did what was evil in the sight of YHWH, and
served the Baals [various lord gods depicting Nimrod]
and the Ashtaroth [Semiramis],
the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the
gods of the Ammonites, and the gods of the
Philistines; and they forsook YHWH, and did not serve him.

Before looking at David Young's Discipling
Dilema it is important to understand that the same
manipulators us the same methods as the Discipling Cults.
This fits with Spiritual Formation among the feminists

ignoring the text. This is the opposite of READING the LECTIONS
of the DIVINE WORD as the one piece pattern for a Church OF
Christ where He is the only Teacher and intercessor.

> Focus on preaching for change to set the stage for determining your
church purpose.
> Determine your
church purpose: Our church
purpose is "to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ, His
family, and the world, our neighbor." [Vision
Casting]
Jesus beat you to it:

known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
Eph. 3:4 Whereby, when ye READ, ye may understand my
knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
Eph. 3:10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and
powers in heavenly places
might be known by
the church the manifold wisdom of God,
Eph. 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches
of his glory,
to be strengthened
with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Eph. 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by
faith; that ye,
being rooted and
grounded in love,
Eph. 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints
what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
Eph. 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth
knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness
of God.
> Emphasize the
church's responsibility to reach the unchurched.
> Launch a New
Member's class.
> Encourage your members to embrace the church purpose as their
personal purpose. [We versus Them]
> Adopt new church
by-laws so that the
organizational concept and structure of the church comply with
the biblical structure for a church.
[before you
expose your agenda: been there, done that three times]
> Implement a
covenant process for personal,
spiritual growth of church members. [Pledge
loyalty to the leaders]
> Enlist the support
of your senior adults.
> Transition the
ministry of the church to the
people and the maintenance of the church to the staff
> Transition the
education ministry to make it
life-empowering.
> Lead the church to
decide to relocate (or
expand).
> Pay for property.
> Raise funds for
the new facility.
> Lead the church to
change its name in preparation
for the relocation. [remove
Christ from the sign]
> Launch in-home
community groups.
> Graciously Release Those Members Who Choose To
Leave. Expressed from J.W.McGarvey and
"progressives" "get over it or get out."
> "Those who went out
were not OF us." You must
remember that the transition will not please everyone - that
would be impossible. Do not abandon your vision to
appease a person or even a group
of persons who choose to
leave. God will send other
leaders to take their place.
Easy step 1. Worship Planning - Form a worship
planning team that will help you plan services to
correspond with the message so that all songs match the theme of
the message. Introduce video projection of
sermon notes and WORDS of the songs at this point.
David Young:
Beyond these
non-negotiable instructions, however, the Scriptures permit
Christians and churches to exercise
considerable freedom and to apply God’s Word in merciful
ways.
Jeremiah by the Spirit OF Christ said that if you SAY that God
or Scripture PERMITS someone to do something that He did not
that person despises the Word or blasphemes.
Jer. 13:10 This evil people, which refuse to hear my
WORDS,
which walk in the
imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve
them,
and to worship
them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
Jer. 16:12 And ye have done worse than your fathers;
for, behold, ye walk
every one after the imagination of his evil heart,
that they may not
hearken unto me:
Jer. 18:12 And they said, There is no hope:
but we will walk [dīco speak] after our own
devices,
and we will every one do
the imagination of his evil heart.

Inst. 5 9.1 Every artificial proof
consists either of indications, arguments or examples. I am
well aware that many consider indications to form part of
the arguments. My reasons for distinguishing them are
twofold. In the first place indications as a rule come under
the head of inartificial proofs: for a bloodstained
garment, a shriek, a dark blotch and the like are all
evidence analogous to documentary or oral evidence and
rumours; they are not discovered by the orator, but are
given him with the case itself. artĭfĭcĭālis
Jer. 23:17 They say still unto them that despise me,
The LORD hath said, Ye

Luke 1:51 He hath shewed strength with his arm
the hath scattered the

The Direct Command for the Word, Logos or
Regulative Principle is SPEAK, TEACH OR READ: poetry, music or
rhetoric are EXCLUDED. No mortal has freedom to decide what
God HAS DECIDED with no statute of limitations until Jesus
Returns.
The Inclusive-Exclusive to the elders as the only
Christ-ordained vocational Pastor teachers is to TEACH THAT
WHICH HAS BEEN TAUGHT. Ephesians says of speakers for
hire, singers or instrument players that THEY
ARE LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE.
The singular meaning of "worship" in the school of Christ is
reading the Word. Covenants are to the domos or laity:
exclusive of Priests or Levites. Jesus called the Scribes and
Pharisees, hypocrites. In Isaiah 29 hypocrites are staff engaged
in MOUTH religion: rhetoric, singing, playing instruments. Jesus
died to give US freedom from YOU as burden laders lading
burdens. Burdens are the self-composed songs and sermons of the
Jacob-cursed and God-abandoned Levites and their laded burden.
These burdens are songs and "Evil men set their lies to melodies
to deceive the simple."
According to Philo, the
gods of the pagans exploit this weakness of
men. For the sake of a better effect, and with the intention of more
easily cheating their devotes, that they have set their
lies to melodies, rhythms and meters.." Click for more.
Easy step 2. Hymn
Arrangements - Introduce new arrangements
of favorite hymns.
Singing and all musical concepts are Purpose Driven
among the pagans as SORCERY. The singers, speakers and
instrument players in Revelation 18 are called SORCERERS
marking the original Babylon Mother of Harlots. John says that
is the mark that the lampstands have been removed and THEY WILL BE CAST ALIVE INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.
Men who twist the command to SPEAK that
which is written for our learning into SING and PLAY are
predestined according to Jude. No one can be that Bible and
Ethically illiterate:

Easy step 3.
Introduce Some Praise Choruses - Start with a new chorus
of the month.
-Apollon exercises an elevating and inspiring influence on the mind as god of music, which, though not belonging
to him alone any more than atonement and prophecy, was yet pre-eminently his province. In Homer
he is represented only
as a player on
the lyre,
while song is the province of the Muses;
but in course of time he grows to be the god, as they are the goddesses, of song and poetry,
and
is therefore Mousagetês (leader of the Muses) as well as master of the choral dance,
which
goes with music and song. And as the friend of all that beautifies life
he is intimately
associated
with the Graces [Graces meaning CHARIS
meaning Charismatic
meaning
the MARK of homosexual "worship"]
Easy step 4.
Gradually increase the number of choruses, gauging the
response of your church family as you go. Some will readily
embrace this change. Others will gradually come
along. Still others will reject this outright -- try
to help them see the validity of what YOU are
doing.
David Young: WE
commit to listening to the church as it seeks to understand
what the leadership at North Boulevard is doing. WE
will try to work SLOWLY and
WISELY so as to avoid disorder, disunity,
and needless confusion as WE try to speak the
Gospel in a world with multiple opinions and tastes.

But things that are akin to things of
different kinds must themselves differ in kind.
[3] A still clearer proof may be
drawn
from the hindrance
that activities
receive from the
pleasure derived from other activities.
For instance, persons fond of the flute
cannot give
their attention to a philosophical discussion [The LOGOS or Regulative Principle]
when they overhear
someone playing the flute,
because they enjoy
music more than the activity in which they are engaged;
therefore the pleasure afforded by the
music of the flute
impairs the
activity of study.

So, to attain this object, both the lyre-master and

But at its first
introduction into the Church, it came in secretly and
by stealth, with "all DECEIVABLENESS of
unrighteousness." It wrought "mysteriously" under fair but false pretences, leading men away
from the simplicity of the truth as it is in Jesus.
And it did
so secretly, for the
very same reason that idolatry was secretly
introduced in the ancient Mysteries of Babylon; it was not
safe, it was not prudent
to do otherwise. The zeal of the true Church, though
destitute of civil power, would
have aroused itself, to
put the false system and all its abettors beyond the pale of Christianity, if it had
appeared openly and all
at once in all its grossness; and this would have
arrested its progress.
Therefore it was brought
in secretly, and by little
and little, one corruption
being introduced after another, as apostacy proceeded, and the backsliding
Church became prepared to tolerate it, till it has reached the gigantic height
we now see, when in almost every particular the system of
the Papacy is the very antipodes of the system
of the primitive Church.
Of the gradual
introduction of all that
is now most characteristic
of Rome, through the
working of the "Mystery of
iniquity," we have very
striking evidence, preserved even by Rome itself, in the
inscriptions copied from the Roman catacombs.
> Our transition
(change agents) involved an eleven year process
Easy step 5. Move Into a Blended Service
- This will happen naturally as you continue to introduce praise
choruses.
Easy step 6. Begin to
Use a Praise Team - This and the next step are the most
challenging part of the worship transition. When some
people see a Praise Team in front of them, they think, “We are
changing,” and the reaction can be extreme.
The Jews had a Covenant with Death and Hell: they
were "predestined" and could NOT be lost. The Spirit OF Christ
excluded "vocal or instrumental rejoicing or rhetoric" for the
Rest or School day in the Church in the wilderness.

Easy step 7.
Introduce Other Instruments - Gradually de-emphasize
the piano and organ while introducing other
instruments like guitars and drums. This
transition can be started with Sunday night
services and carefully introduced to Sunday
morning. For those churches who do not have Sunday night
services, one option is to start a week night praise
service that utilizes these other instruments.
Easy step 8. One good
way to begin this transition is with previously recorded
music, which allows you time to recruit a praise
band and gradually incorporate them into the worship
service.

the PATTERN in 2 Chronicles 29
Unity in Diversity is a lie: Paul told the elders as THE

David Young in His Mark Discipling book dismisses
Amos' warning as just devoted to EXTERNAL things
without being spiritual: they were, therefore
hypocrites. Among the scholars God was happy with the
instrumental worship but was sad because they had a bad
mental attitude. Amos identifies the worship in Israel
as identical to that of the instrumental-trimitarian
idolatry at Mount which was a sin beyond redemption.
Extreme Discipleship p. 132
They focused exclusively on external things
rather than on purity of heart. Look at a
few scriptures from Isaiah 1:10-31; Jeremiah 7:21-26;
Hosea 6:6; Amos 5:21-24; Micah 6:6-8. When are
external actions right? When they are wrong? Can of
think of instances in Christianity where we focus on the
wrong things as a means of purity before God?
How should we go about changing these?
The Scribes in Jeremiah 7 lied about the role of the Temple
which God did NOT command except as the headquarters of an
abandoned Civil-Military-Clergy:
Jer. 7:4 Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The
temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of
the LORD, are these.
Jer. 7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle
the fire, and the women knead their dough,
to make cakes to the
queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other
gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

I. 7 In which of the local
glories of the past, divinely blessed Thebe, did you most
delight your spirit? Was it when you raised to
eminence the one seated beside Demeter of the clashing
bronze cymbals, flowing-haired [5] Dionysus? Or when
you received, as a snow-shower of gold in the middle of
the night, the greatest of the gods, when he stood in the
doorway of Amphitryon, and then went in to the wife to
beget Heracles?
David and the "doctors of the Law" pretend that the Spirit
OF Christ was approving of the external acts BUT not when
done with an impure heart. They always miss the punch line:
Amos 5:23 Take thou away

God had not commanded sacrifices nor burnt offerings until
after their ABOMINATION of instrumental-trinitarian idolatry

In 2 Chronicles 28; 33 The Lie is that God commanded the
Jacob-Cursed and God-Abandoned Levites to provide INSTRUMENTAL
ACCOMPANIMENT to the regular worship of the Jews. Hezekiah was
conducting an EXORCISM because of taking the animal slaughter
from outside closed city gates to hide its ugliness. The
command was for the Levites to stand in ranks with instruments
and sword to execute any one not of the priesthood. Why
would people lie about Scripture?
2Chr. 29:27 And Hezekiah commanded to
offer the burnt offering upon the altar.
And when the burnt
offering began, the song of the LORD began also
with the trumpets,
and with the
instruments ordained by David king of Israel.
Hezekiah stopped the sacrifice of infants with the instrumental
noise of the Levites who were an old Egyptian Infant burning
priesthood. As soon as Hezekiah died the sacrifices to
Moloch began all over again. And THIS IS THE PATTERN of those LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE.

KAIROS PATTERN: There must be something–a conception,
an idea, a vision, a dream–that gives rise to the creative
event. That idea is the formative essence of vision.
It’s well
documented that church planters need to be vision casters, people who are
able to see so clearly what does not yet exist
that others are willing to commit themselves to bring
that thing (a new church) about. We feel the
idea of vision creation so important that it is one of the
central pieces we look for in our church planter assessment
(Discovery Lab). We truly believe Charles Ridley is right
when he lists vision casting as a knock factor.
This calls God a Liar:
Gen. 6:5 And GOD saw that the
wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every
imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil
continually.

For he shall be like the heath in the desert,

For he shall be as a tree planted by

In
personality theory the Myers-Briggs
concept of iNtuition is important. People
with the N as their second letter in the MBTI four letter
sequence (example ENTP). Aubrey Malphurs lists four MBTI types
as strong indicators for church planting success: ENTP,
ENTJ, ENFP, and ENFJ. All of them have the iNtuition aspect
in their personality. In the DiSC behavioral assessment it
is the high DI combination, the Influencer, that tends to have most
success in planting new churches. We look to these two
instruments to give us starting points for vision casting.
The JESUS as God's PATTERN
for LOGOS was to pick simple people who could still
understand the meaning is to GO INTO ALL THE WORLD. If
they used any human talent or were HIRED it would destroy
the meaning of the Free Water of the Word.
The Word, Logos or
Regulative Principle OUTLAWS personal opinions, preaching,
singing, playing instruments. The LOGOS is so divine that
the Greeks knew that it could not be spoken, sung or danced
but must just be READ.
Acts 15:21 For Moses of old
time hath in every city them that PREACH him,
being READ in
the synagogues every sabbath day.
THE MARK OF JESUS DISCIPLES
IS THAT THEY PLANT SEED--THE WORD OF GOD.
MARKS
FOR AVOIDANCE. Kairos-Hermes-Mercury is
the ANTICHRISTIAN LOGOS. Those who slander
existing Churches of Christ often remove "Christ" from their
public confession. The Logos or Regulative Principle
is the OPPOSITE of rhetoric, personal opinions, personal
experiences, singing, playing instruments or anything which
SILENCES the Word. A Church of Christ is a school of the
Word and it is the only power of God to salvation and does
not depend on molding personalities.
Jesus refused to pray for
the WORLD or ECUMENICAL as the "kingdom of the Devil" as
Kairos is a demon.
God HIDES from the wise or Sophist "personality" marked as
opinion speakers, singers, instrument players.
KAIROS
(or Caerus) was the spirit
(daimon) of opportunity, the youngest divine
son of Zeus. He was depicted as a youth with a
long lock of hair hanging down from his forehead, which
indicated that Opportunity could only be grasped as he
approached.
In Greek mythology, Carius
or Karios was the son of Zeus
and Torrhebia. His mother's name is connected to
Torrhebos, name of a city in Lydia.
According to Hellanicus, there was
a mountain named Karios (Carius) near this city, with the
sanctuary of Carius situated on it. Nicolaus
Damascenus related of him the following tale. As
Carius was wandering by a lake which later received the
name Torrhebis, he heard the voices of nymphs
singing; these nymphs, Nicolaus remarked, were also
called the Muses by
the Lydians. Carius learned the music from them,
and taught it to the Lydians. This kind of music was known
as "Torrhebian songs" Carius
("of Caria") was also a surname of Zeus
himself, under which he was venerated in Mylasa.[2]
Apollon-Abaddon is
the LEADER and personified spirit of the MUSES and "brides"
or Nymps. His musical worship team were marked as
dirty adulteresses: they specialized in changing truth
(logos) into outlawed songs to DECEIVE: that is why they are
called SORCERERS and will be CAST
ALIVE INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.

CATHOLIC ROOTS FOR THE
DISCIPLING DILEMA
They began to
require, therefore, that the confessor and the Spiritual
Director could not be the same person. In this regard,
the modern discipling movement is about where the Roman
Catholic Church was almost 1,500 years ago. They have
not yet learned the danger of having one [p126] person
serve both as the confessor and the Spiritual Director for
another person.
In the Roman Catholic Church today there is much less
emphasis on each person having a Spiritual Director and more
emphasis on each person having spiritual direction.
Based on his work with the Association for Psychological
Type, Flavil Yeakley reports that the Roman Catholic
Church was the first religious group to make widespread use
of Jungian typology, the
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and other
approaches to personality differences as a way of counseling
individuals about the spiritual direction their lives should
take. They now clearly recognize the value of diversity and
do not try to make members over after the image of the group
norm
Pietism/Wesleyanism
A
second root of the discipling movement is to be found in
Pietism/Wesleyanism. Early in the Reformation, such men as
Spener, Franke, and Zinzendorf wanted to breathe new life
into ice cold state churches. John Wesley was impressed by
Spener's use of small groups (collegia pietatis)
for this purpose. This influenced him to establish Methodist
societies within Anglican churches. These small groups soon
came to see themselves as a church within a church. They
believed that they had achieved a higher level of
spirituality than that experienced by other Christians.
WHAT
IS A CULT
Researcher
Flavil Yeakley, professor at Abilene Christian University,
conducted a major study using the Myers-Briggs Type
Indicator (MBTI), a psychological profile tool, on
members of the Boston Church of Christ (International Church
of Christ), Hare Krishnas, Church of Scientology, Children of
God, Unification Church (Moonies), The Way, as well as members
of mainline Churches of Christ, Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran,
Methodist and Presbyterian congregations. The results
demonstrated a high level of unhealthy and unnatural changes
in personality in the first group of cults, compared with the
population of traditional mainline churches. The changes in
the members of cult groups showed a strong tendency to conform
to the particular personality type normative within a given
group. ...
When used in a theological context, the term “cult”
refers to a group of people who are centered around a
particular person’s serious misinterpretation of the Bible

good questions to ask each time 2 or 3 of us men meet to hold each other accountable. What
are the do's and don'ts of such a commitment...size

to do this, what accountability questions would be asked
in this case? Your ideas and experiences and suggested

may have opportunities to minister and teach.
That does not prevent Lynn Anderson and

Accountability
Group (no more than 3) Maybe something I say about this
can be of help. I think we
all know that accountability
is an essential part of Christianity
in that we are to help each other grow and become sharpened
as iron sharpens iron.
Accountability
questions need to be positive focused, direct, and
geared toward motivating people to grow.
This
type of accountability
can be hard but it is where people really grow.
Especially us ministers have a hard time admitting
our faults for fear of discovery and losing our jobs
and/or reputations. The end result is that many of
us live double lives with secret sin being our
second god that we worship when no one else is looking.
Obviously in some cases this deeper type of
accountability [your sex life] is only appropriate
within all male or all female groups.
Accountability groups only work when there is trust
and openness. This may take a while to develop. Give
it time and start slow until you feel that your
relationship can progress into these more intimate areas.

3. Have you exposed yourself to any explicit
material this week?
4. Have you spent daily time in prayer and in the Scriptures

5. Have you fulfilled the mandate of your calling

6. Have you taken time off to be with your family this week?
7. Have you just lied to me?

But Christ, interrupting
them in their vanities, which otherwise were endless, will
ask them,
"Whence this new

I acknowledge one
commandment, which is truly mine, of which alone I hear
nothing. I promised, 'tis true, my Father's heritage,
and that without parables, not to cowls, odd
prayers, and fastings,
but to the duties of faith and charity.
Nor can I acknowledge them
that least acknowledge their faults. They that would seem
holier than myself, let them if they like possess to
themselves those three hundred sixty-five heavens of
Basilides the heretic's invention, or command them whose
foolish traditions they have preferred before my precepts to erect them
a new one."
When they shall hear these
things and see common ordinary persons preferred before
them, with what countenance, think you, will they behold one
another? In the meantime they are happy in their hopes, and
for this also they are beholding to me.
And yet
these kind of people, though they are as it were of another
commonwealth, no man dares despise, especially those begging friars, because
they are privy to all men's secrets
by means of confessions, as they call them. Which yet were no less
than treason to discover, unless, being got drunk, they

out, that is to say by hints
and conjectures but suppressing the names.
But if anyone should anger these wasps, they'll sufficiently revenge
themselves in their public
sermons and so point out
their enemy by circumlocutions
that there's no one but understands whom 'tis they mean,
unless he understand nothing at all; nor will they give
over their barking till you throw the dogs
a bone. And now tell me,
what juggler or mountebank you had rather behold than
hear them rhetorically play the fool in their preachments, and yet most sweetly imitating what
rhetoricians have written touching the art of good
