I am slow because my 92 year old wife had to have an emerency pacemaker,

Lipscomb goes through the whole Bible and quote it for each point. I have posted reviews of Leonard Allen's Books and Holy Spirit Curriculum
https://www.pineycom.com/Lipscomb.University.Curriculum.The.Holy.Spirit.html
His Father didn't need to read anything he has written,
Madison sowed massive discord when it introduced a professional  singing group.  Working with Lipscomb they brought in a Conflict Resolution president. The way to solve conflict was to dissociate from Churches of Christ.  God would call that 'Casting the owners out of theit own synagogue."  Ronda Lower brought in WITCHCRAFT called Spiritual Formation.

THE PATTERN: APT ELDERS  HOLD SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE ONCE EACH REST DAY

The elders permitted Leonard Allen to tell the world that "marginal" people got their docy

I watched Larry Souder's Amazing Grace with Leonard Allen. He always references his experiences with restoration History and Not Holy Scripture.  He can prove that all congregations are ignorant and primitive but most of the early literature discussed the Scriptures because ALL historical scholars wer APOSTOLIC or based on Holy Scriptures

Leonard began refuting. his father's religion when he was eleven years old.  I have reviewed a dozen of Leonard's books and sermons: He sent me chapters of his book on the Spirit being poured and I sent proof that when God pours out His Spirit [breath] the results are in words.

John 6:62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
John 6:63 It is the SPIRIT that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are SPIRIT, and they are life.
John 6:64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
John 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. .

Is. 2:3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways,
and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law,
and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

The narrow way is very narrow (sectarian) and only a few will ever find it

Leonard did the usual job claiming that Alexander Campbell promoted unity regardless of Creed

http://www.pineycom.com/AC.Lunenburg.Orig.html

I. With all despatch, then, I hasten to show that I have neither conceded nor surrendered any thing for which I ever contended; but that on the contrary, the opinion now expressed, whether true or false, is one that I have always avowed.

(Footnote in original reads: It is with us as old as baptism for the remission of sins, and this is at least as old as the "Christian Baptist." Read the first two numbers of that work.)

1. Let me ask, in the first place, what could mean all that we have written upon the union of Christians on apostolic grounds,
had we taught that all Christians in the world were already united in our own community?

2. And in the second place, why should we so often have quoted and applied to apostate Christendom what the Spirit saith to saints in Babylon--"Come out of her, my people, that you partake not of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues"--had we imagined that the Lord had no people beyond the pale of our communion!

3. But let him that yet doubts, read the following passages from the Christian Baptist, April, 1825:-- [Before both Alexander Campbell and Barton Stone denied that there was an unity between the groups. Churches of Christ were never part of the Disciples or Christian Churches were separated in 1920.

"I have no idea of seeing, nor wish to see, the sects unite in one grand army.
This would be dangerous to our liberties and laws. For this the Saviour did not pray.

It is only the
disciples dispersed among them that reason and benevolence would call out of them, "&c. &c. This looks very like our present opinion of Christians among the sects!!! 2d ed. Bethany, p. 85.
I hope that you will discuss this post because nothing Leonard Allen wrote is Bible Based.  Theology which now the way to interpret Scripture says that "Neither God, Jesus nor the Apostles could possibly have under our culture and scholarship." Theology based on Greek scholars was equated to Mythology.

Ken Sublett I will be happy to answer about the nature of the church of Christ which is defined inclusively and exclusive by the Spirit OF God in the prophets

The is Number Two.

Holy Scripture and all early Latin and Greek scholars teach define the weekly assembly--

Eph. 2:20 And are built upon the foundation
              of the apostles and prophets,
             Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Built Upon Means "To be educated in the ekklesia or Church."

The absolute pattern for the church (Paul uses synagogue words) is free education:

https://www.pineycom.com/Church.of.Christ.Pattern.html

The direct command and approved example (observed by Jesus) was to assemble once each week to observe the Lord's Supper which demands that only Jesus has the right to teach.
God our Saviour;
1Tim. 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
1Tim. 2:5 For there is ONE GOD
and one mediator between God and men,
       THE MAN Christ Jesus;
1Tim. 2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be TESTIFIED in due time.

The New Testament or Last Will and Testament to be READ is almost always replaced with rhetoric and music

Almost without exception it is taught that God called people out of their REST to conduct Religious Observations.  Holy Scripture denies that: the kingdom does not com when religious observations such as rhetoric, music or stage performance.

htttp://www.pineycom.com/Luke.17.Kingdom.Not.Observation.html

The only meaning ol worship.

And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua
FELL ON HIS FACE to the earth,
and did WORSHIP, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?
Dan. 2:46 Then the king Nebuchadnezzar FELL ON HIS FACE, and WORSHIPED Daniel,
and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.
2Chr. 20:18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground:
and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem
        FELL BEFORE THE LORD
        WORSHIPING THE LORD.
1Cor. 14:25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest;
and so FALLING DOWN ON HIS FACE

Rev. 7:11 And all the angels stood round about the throne,
and about the elders and the four beasts,
and FELL before the throne on their faces,
        and WORSHIPPED God,
Rev. 11:16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats,

Heb. 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved [Music], let us have grace,
whereby we may serve God acceptably with REVERENCE and GODLY FEAR.
Heb. 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Leonard Allen ignorant of Holy Scripture slanders: "Among Churches of Christ it often has meant that we simply discounted eighteen centuries of Christianity as, at worst, a diseased tumor or, at best, an instructive failure. Churches of Christ were built upon the matchmaking power of poverty, marginality, social estrangement and antebellum primitivism.

Churches of Christ have never ceased to Exist under that name. All but historic churches claim to be Apostolic or Built upon the Prophets and Apostles.
There was no Congregational singing in holy Scripture nor anywhere until after the reformation.
The first to use the "trias" word was to repudiate paganism and honor God by saying that the Almighty always had his wisdom, breath [spirit] and Word with Him.within Himself.

Leonard Allen makes the sectarian mistake that "church" is defined as a "worshiping" group deciding what actions [legalism] constitutes a pattern which best appeases or tickles God.  That leads to as many patterns as there are sacred enclaves. I was eleven years old and I doubt that Leonard suddenly learned how to repudiate a father "who done him wrong."

People who infiltrate a congregation or a university, paid for by sacrificial giving even by widows, are not qualified to speak for anyone

THERE WAS NEVER A STONE-CAMPBELL MOVEMENT

2. John Calvin called for a Restoration of the Church OF CHRIST. He also says that the FANATICAL think they hear SPIRIT outside the Word.
3. Calvin defines Adult baptism by quoting Holy Scripture.
4. Groups calling themselves church of Christ existed in all ages.
5. The Rule of Faith by all church faith is direct commands or examples from Holy Scripture.
6. Campbell quotes many church fathers who can read BLACK Text on BROWN paper

Leonard Allen missed Prophecy and the sources quoted by Alexander Campbell pre antebellum
Campbell: "...and safely landed in New York on the 29th of September, 1809.

"On the 28th of the next month I arrived in Washington, Pennsylvania, to which place I have been known ever since. I arrived in this country with credentials in my pocket from that sect of Presbyterians known by the name of Seceders. These credentials certified that I had been both in Ireland in the presbytery of Market Hill, and in Scotland in the presbytery of Glasgow a member of the Secession church, in good standing. My faith in creeds and confessions of human device was considerably shaken while in Scotland, and I commenced my career in this country under the conviction that nothing that was not as old as the New Testament should be made an article of faith, a rule of practice, or a term of communion amongst christians. In a word, that the whole of the christian religion exhibited in prophecy and type in the Old Testament, was presented in the fullest, clearest, and most perfect manner in the New Testament, by the Spirit OF wisdom and revelation. "

Campbell raised money for a building, understood that Holy Scripture was the only authority and was Baptized

Campbell published The Christian System and Christianity Restored but he never called for a restoration of any "primitive" Assembly. He Quotes Scripture for every teaching.  The New Covenant is the Last Will and Testament of Jesus.  The only thing Directly commanded and approved as THE pattern is to honestly read and mutually confess.

"Richard Hughes and C. Leonard Allen have placed the Stone-Campbell movement in the larger context of American antebellum primitivism.

Specifically, the Puritan and Christian American primordium -- not the only primordium available on the current market  refers to a sort of mythic time.
I
n essence this was "the primal (or "primitive" or "first") time in which Christianity was given and unfolded in  fullness. " The time of Jesus, the apostles and the earliest Christian community

"The root of the word (Nicolaitans) through historical evaluation shows us that the word Nicolaitans comes from Greek nikao, to conquer or overcome, and laos, which means people and which the word laity comes from. The two words together especially means the destruction of the people and refers to the earliest form of what we call a priestly order or clergy which later on in church history divided people allowing for leadership other than those led by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Surely preaching the gospel should no more be regarded as a profession than the talk of loving parents to children.  Is the Church justified in confining its attention to the ministry of one man?

In most modern congregation there are some Christian men who, by natural ability, by experimental knowledge and inspiration are far more qualified to instruct and comfort the people than their professional and stated minister.

Surely official preaching has no authority, either in Scripture, reason, or experience, and it must come to an end sooner or later." (Pulpit Commentary, 1 Cor. p. 464).

"When tribes grew too large for effective co-operation (and inbred), they often became subdivided into smaller kinship groups (clans, sibs, gentes) which continued to regard each other as close allies. Government was exercised by individual chieftains assisted by councils of elders" (p. 26).

"In this fashion every common tribal interest--the recurrence of the seasons, the increase of the food supply, successful hunting--was likely to become embodied in some regularly repeated ceremony, which usually included group dancing, singing, and feasting.

Besides enabling men to express, and thereby to allay, ANGER and ANXIETY, such ceremonies also promoted tribal UNITY and strengthened the loyalty of the individual to TRIBAL TRADITION,

for the emotional excitement they aroused had the effect of breaking down the barriers between individuals

and thus fusing all tribesmen into a collective whole. Meanwhile, whole systems of magical devices were gradually elaborated." (H. Bamford Parkes, Of Gods and Men p. 29)

'Certain members of a tribe, marked out either by unusual skills or by some emotional abnormality, ususally became particularly adept at these operations, and gradually assumed specialized functions. RELEASED [Parasites] from the duty of hunting, and concentrating on the practice of MAGIC, the shaman, SORCERER, or medicine man was the world's first professional." (Parkes, p. 29).

The development both of religion and of the arts can be traced back in a continuous line to the hunting era. The group ritual of the primeval tribesmen were the origin not only of all religious ceremonial, but also of the drama and of poetry and music, while magic gave birth to the visual arts." (Parkes, Henry Bamford, On Gods and Men, p. 30).

"Awed by the mysteries of his own spirit no less than by those of nature, primitive man was likely to attribute to divine influence any abnormal emotional state, whether above or below the usual level. Medicine men customarily went into states of trance in which they were believed to be in communication with the gods, and many tribes supposed lunatics and sexual deviants to be divinely possessed.

Worshipping chiefly divinities of the sky and the weather, and seeing them definitely in masculine forms, pastoral peoples did not usually deify the processes of sexual reproduction or regard human sacrifice as more than an extreme and unusual expedient; and their gods, being nomadic rather than fixed to particular localities, and not normally represented by means of images, could be universalized and spiritualized more easily than the peasant deities." (Parkes, p. 48).

PROOF OF 'CRACKING AWAY" TO THE primitive:
Madison boasted of having over 5,000 in attendance when Keith Lancaster was brought in to RESTORE THE PRIMITIVE WHICH MAKES MEN BLUSH.

The Praise Team leads the congregation into the presence of the Lord with exciting praise and worship. The Word says that God inhabits the praises of His people and we are a people desiring to be inhabited!

Our role as worship leaders is to MINISTER  to the heart of God Himself
our worship is about HIM and Him alone.
We also serve to BLESS those who gather for worship in
OUR services,
not so that they can walk away “satisfied” or “FILLED BY THE MUSIC”  ,
but so that SPACE is created for THEM to encounter the living God.

But you, worship leader—you know (or at least you ought to know) where you are LEADING them.
Ours is not a role of “forcing worship” upon OUR people.
It is merely PROMPTING them OUT of the sheep pen  [A Church of Christ]
and into a space where the kingdom of God does its transformative work within them.

Our job is to merely open the gate and lead them into GREENER pastures.

Brandon Scott Thomas Zoe Group: The Holy Spirit is the true worship leader.
Our job as church worship leaders is to
                lean completely into
His leading.
We cannot force anyone to worship,
all we can do is STAND IN  the doorway [holy place] an
and invite people into the presence of the Living God.
What an honor! What a joy! What a profound burden
!

Our main hope in the Highland Worship Ministry is that Jesus would be magnified by the things WE D0 and that we could infuse our gatherings with creativity and beauty as we honor the Living God.

Worship is one of the greatest ways we have of speaking TRUTH INTO the spiritual realm and reminding ourselves of  those same truths. Worship is adoration. Worship calls for transparency. To be honest, all of life should be a worship offering to our Father.

Our worship ministry participants are challenged to view themselves as worship leaders…
not just back-up singers to the worship leader.
Therefore, we have a tremendous responsibility to come prepared,
to lead with great conviction and feeling,
and to exhibit lives that reflect the glory of the Lord.
        I’ve always said,
“The best way to be an effective worship leader is to just be a devoted worshipper.”

Music.  Cantillation signs guide the READER in applying a chant to Biblical READING. This chant is technically regarded as a ritualized form of SPEECH intonation rather than as a musical exercise like the singing of metrical hymns: for this reason Jews always speak of SAYING or READING a passage rather than of singing it. (In Yiddish the word is leynen 'read', derived from Latin legere, giving rise to the Jewish English verb "to leyn".)

Cyprian of Carthage on THE SHOWS speaking to much church "worship."

b. AD 200,, Carthage. d. Sept. 14, 258, Carthage 2. Believers, and men who claim for themselves the authority of the Christian name, are not ashamed-are not, I repeat, ashamed to find a defence in the heavenly Scriptures for the vain superstitions associated with the public exhibitions of the heathens, and thus to attribute divine authority to idolatry.

For how is it, that what is done by the heathens in honour of any idol is resorted to in a public show by faithful Christians, and the heathen idolatry is maintained, and the true and divine religion is trampled upon in contempt of God? Shame binds me to relate their pretexts and defences in this behalf.

"Where," say they, "are there such Scriptures? where are these things prohibited? On the contrary, both Elias is the charioteer of Israel, and David himself danced before the ark.
We read of psalteries, horns, 6 trumpets, drums, pipes, harps, and choral dances. Moreover, the apostle, in his struggle, puts before us the contest of the Caestus, and of our wrestle against the spiritual things of wickedness. Again, when he borrows his illustrations from the racecourse, he also proposes the prize of the crown. Why, then, may not a faithful Christian man gaze upon that which the divine pen might write about? "At this point I might not unreasonably say that it would have been far better for them not to know any writings at all, than thus to read the Scriptures. 7
Ezek. 26:12 And they shall make a spoil of thy riches, and make a prey of thy merchandise:
and they shall break down thy walls, and destroy thy pleasant houses:
and they shall lay thy stones and thy timber and thy dust in the midst of the water.
Ezek. 26:13 And I will cause the NOISE of thy songs to cease; and the sound of thy harps shall be no more heard.
Is. 24:8 The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.
NOISE  h1995. הָמוֹן hamown, haw-mone´; or הָמֹן hamon (Ezek. 5:7), haw-mone´; from 1993; a noise, tumult, crowd; also disquietude, wealth:—abundance, company, many, multitude, multiply, noise, riches, rumbling, sounding, store, tumult.

Is. 5:12 And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.
Ezek. 33:30 Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people
still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses,
and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying,
Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.
Ezek. 33:31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh,
and they sit before thee as my people,
and they hear thy words, but they will not do them:
for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

God picked the worst example of people who reject His Word

Ezek. 33:32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice,
and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.
Ezek. 33:33 And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.
Vulgate translates, "They turn thy words into a song of their mouths." heart goeth after covetousness--the grand rival to the love of God; therefore called "idolatry," and therefore associated with impure carnal love, as both alike transfer the heart's affection from the Creator to the creature.

The triumphal hymn of Moses had unquestionably a religious character about it;

It is not lawful, I say, for faithful Christians to be present; it is not lawful, I say, at all, even for those whom for the delight of their ears Greece sends everywhere to all who are instructed in her vain arts. One imitates the hoarse warlike clangours of the trumpet; another with his breath blowing into a pipe regulates its mournful sounds; another with dances, and with the musical voice of a man, strives with his breath, which by an effort he had drawn from his bowels into the upper parts of his body, to play upon the stops of pipes; now letting forth the sound, and now closing it up inside, and forcing it into the air by certain openings of the stops; now breaking the sound in measure, he endeavours to speak with his fingers, ungrateful to the Artificer who gave him a tongue. Why should I speak of comic and useless efforts? Why of those great tragic vocal ravings? Why of strings set vibrating with noise? These things, even if they were not dedicated to idols, ought not to be approached and gazed upon by faithful Christians; because, even if they were not criminal, they are characterized by a worthlessness which is extreme, and which is little suited to believers.10. And in this assertion they do not go beyond the truth; for we do say so.
But the ground of their complaint is that
their custom does not admit this,
and Scripture does not support it. What then is our reply?

We do not think that it is right to make their prevailing custom the law and rule of sound doctrine.
For if custom is to avail for proof of soundness, we too, surely, may advance our prevailing custom;
and if they reject this, we are surely not bound to follow theirs.
Let the inspired Scripture, then, be our umpire, and
the vote of truth will surely be given to those
whose dogmas are found to agree with the Divine words
Gregory of Nyssa (d.ca, 395)

Died C. 110 Ignatius to the Ephesians  And if those that corrupt mere human families are condemned to death, how much more shall those suffer everlasting punishment who endeavour to corrupt the CHURCH OF CHRIST, for which the Lord Jesus, the only-begotten Son of God, endured the cross, and submitted to death! Against Heresies 3.1.1
“We have learned from none others the plan of our salvation, than from those through whom the gospel has come down to us, which they did at one time proclaim in public, and, at a later period, by the will of God, handed down to us in the Scriptures, to be the ground and pillar of our faith.”

Chapter XXXII.-The Doctrine of the Christians, is Opposed to Dissensions, and Fitted for All.
But with us there is no desire of vainglory, nor do we indulge in a variety of opinions. For having renounced the popular and earthly, and obeying the commands of God, and following the law of the Father of immortality,
we reject everything which rests upon human opinion.  Not only do the rich among us pursue our philosophy,
but the poor enjoy instruction gratuitously, ( [Compare cap. xi. p. 69. And note, thus early, the Christian free schools, such as Julian closed and then imitated, confessing their power.]) for the things which come from God surpass the requital of worldly gifts.

Tertullian of Carthage (Quintus Septimius Florens Terullianus, b. 155 - 160 Carthage - d. 220? AD)
He specificially uses exclusion or necessary inference to repudiate music.

"Fortified by this knowledge against heathen views, let us rather turn to the unworthy reasonings of our own people; for the faith of some, either too simple or too scrupulous,
demands direct authority from Scripture for giving up the shows,
and holds out that the matter is a
doubtful one, because such abstinence is not clearly and in words imposed upon God's servants. "Well, we never find it expressed with the same precision,
"Thou shalt not enter circus or theatre, thou shalt not look on combat or show; "
as it is plainly laid down, "Thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not worship an
idol; thou shalt not commit adultery or fraud." Ex. xx. 14.
"But we find that that first word of David bears on this very sort of thing: "Blessed," he says, "is the man who has not gone into the assembly of the impious, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the seat of scorners." Ps. i. 1. Though he seems to have predicted beforehand of that just man, that he took no part in the meetings and deliberations of the Jews, taking counsel about the slaying of our Lord,  yet divine Scripture has ever far-reaching applications:  after the immediate sense has been exhausted, in all directions it fortifies the practice of the religious life, so that here also you have an utterance which is not far from a plain interdicting of the shows.

Tertullian, De Spectaculis
"Tertullian, with his characteristic energy, takes up the same argument in his famous work "On Prescription Against Heretics". His general process of reasoning runs thus: Christ chose twelve Apostles to whom he communicated His doctrine. The Apostles preached this doctrine to the churches they founded, and thence the same doctrine came to the more recent churches. Neither did the Apostles corrupt Christ's doctrine, nor have the Apostolic Churches corrupted the preaching of the Apostles. Heresy is always posterior, and, therefore, erroneous.
"We have to show," he says (c. xxi), "whether our doctrine . . . is
derived from Apostolic teaching, and whether, therefore, other doctrines have their origin in a lie.  We are in communion with the Apostolic Churches, because we have the same doctrine; that is the testimony of the truth (Communicamus cum Ecclesiis apostolicis, quod nulla doctrina diversa; hoc est testimonium veritatis). In Tertullian's writings against Marcion (IV, v) we find an application of this apologetic argument. Having developed the historical argument founded on the preservation, as a matter of fact, of the Apostolic doctrine in the chief Apostolic Churches, we must add that, besides it, such writers as Irenaeus and others used often also a dogmatic argument founded on the necessary preservation of Christian truth in the whole Church and in the Roman Church in particular. The two arguments are to be carefully distinguished. Apostolic Churches

Theophilus of Antioch to Autolycus
wrote:

Chapter V.-The Invisible God Perceived Through His Works.
For as the soul in man is not seen, being invisible to men, but is perceived through the motion of the body,
..........so God cannot indeed be seen by human eyes,
..........but is beheld and perceived through His providence and works.  For, in like manner, as any person, when he sees a ship on the sea rigged and in sail, and making for the harbour,  will no doubt infer that there is a pilot in her who is steering her; so we must perceive that God is the governor [pilot] of the whole universe, though He be not visible to the eyes of the flesh, since He is incomprehensible.  For if a man cannot look upon the sun, though it be a very small heavenly body, on account of its exceeding heat and power, how shall not a mortal man be much more unable to face the glory of God, which is unutterable?
