Lipscomb University Conference on Preaching 2008

THE HOLY LORD GOD IS NOT WORSHIPPED--MEANING TO FALL ON YOUR FACE--BY ANYTHING SELF-AUTHORED (AUTHENTIA) PEOPLE CAN DO. No one in Holy Scripture is ever said to WORSHIP by preaching, listening, singing, playing instruments, acting, CLAPPING hands, RAISING hands ot PAY TO PLAY

False Teaching also promotes False Religion in many congregtions.

Jude 3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence
to WRITE unto you of the common salvation,
it was needful for me to
WRITE unto you,
and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith

Jude 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares,
who were before of old ORDAINED TO THIS CONDEMNATION
ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness,
        and denying
        the only Lord God,
        AND our

Preaching at the crossroads. Redisovering the Gospel in the NEW WORLD

First, Jesus denies that Lipscomb Theologians are CHRISTIANS.

John 8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you:
        but he that sent me is true;
and I SPEAK to the world those things
which I have HEARD of him.
John 8:27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them,
When ye have lifted up the Son of man,
then shall ye know that I am he,
        and that I do nothing of myself;
but as my Father hath taught me,
                I speak these things.

John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me:
        the Father hath not left me alone;
for I DO always those things that PLEASE him.
John 8:30 As he spake these WORDS, many believed on him.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
        IF ye continue in my WORD, THEN are ye my disciples indeed;

NONE OF THESE PEOPLE INTEND TO PREACH THE WORD, GOSPEL, THE FAITH, TESTAMENT.
NONE OF THESE PEOPLE CAN POSSIBLY BE PREACHERS.

Rom. 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?
and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?
and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Rom. 10:15 And how shall they preach,
except they be sent? as it is written,
How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace,
and bring glad tidings of good things!
Rom. 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel.
For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
Rom. 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the WORD of God.

PROOF THAT NONE OF THE RECENTLY TAKEN UNIVERSITIES CAPTIVE ARE NOT CHRISTIANS.

Lipscomb University Preaching 2008 From Denominational Imagination!
"This conference proposes that WE allow the worlds imagined
        in the essential biblical narratives
to dramatically shape our preaching and lives.
We believe that preaching REconstitutes biblical paradigms [patterns]
when it engages Scripture’s VISION  [not intelligible in the text]

  1. by REpresenting what is absent
  2. and making present what is inaccessible
  3. to the end that followers of God will live into a God-shaped reality.

Paul defines that as a STRONG DELUSION or "claiming to replace God."

It is a STRONG DELUSION that God ever commanded a DAY for worship.
It is a STRONG DELUSION that God ever commanded any action by the hands of men as worship.
It is a STRONG DELUSION to claim that Jesus died in vain unable to "supply all that applies to life and godliness."
It is a STRONG DELUSION that God ever authorized ANY FUNDING for any funded STAFF to ride on the backs of widows
It is a STRONG DELUSION to claim that God commanded SINGING with or without a Mechanical Device.
It is a STRONG DELUSION and a LIE that there is a Law of Tithing or a Law of Giving

It is the DEFINITION of a CULT to operate a center of SANCTITY with command authority, controlling the member's life several days during the week.

Most of the radical "new style praise singing" (which is one of the marks of the Beast) is based on the psychological violence of claiming that they have the Holy Spirit person trapped inside of their bodies.  If they think that they should lie about all of the musical passages then they tell the congregation that he is guided by THE holy spirit even to do something unholy. It is pretty hard to test the spirits of such a person without getting hurt.

Updated 7.04.09 K.C.Moser uses all of the isolated verses out of context to claim the indwelling of the spirit in a literal sense.

The rush to musical and dramatic performance claiming to "worship" God is makes the profession of theology proven, as Jesus said, devoted to "taking away the key to knowledge." Theologians certainly work within their own "species" and think that all of the rest of the world is illiterate. The majority of the world sees it as a field without a certificate of need and fulfilling the warning of Jesus. Probably all of the theologians promoting instrumental music to go along with performing preaching is based on lying about all of the musical terms in the Bible and in all recorded history. Why would a "greek scholar" claim that God commanded instrumental praise llby quoting the curse of the sacrificial system imposed BECAUSE of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai. Why would they support the preacherlings by quoting a simple list of the way psallo has been used as a DEFINITION so firm that they endorse the sowing of massive discord. Because the Psallo word was invented in 1878 for the first time in history in an attempt to force the Church of Christ to joine the Disciples of Christ denomination, and has continued to rise in the Restoration Unity forums as a circle cast to demand that churches affirm or conform to the instrumental (machine) positioon.  Because Lynn Anderson has credibility at LU and because he has used the psallo argument to force elders to add instrumental music, it seems proper to pile on some simple facts to prove that the Greek (not Hebrew) word PSALLO is based on the same meaning as the SOP Jesus fed Judas and caused the Devil to enter into him.

Click for Lynn Anderson defending instrumental music and being enabled by LU.

I have added a second part to show that the the "musical" terms are used from the Garden of Eden and the "singing and harp playing prostitute" to the ending of the cycle with the mother of harlots (Rev 17) using lusted after fruits (the same ones Amos spoke of" as rhetoricians, singers and instrument players: John and all of the Greek world called them sorcerers and parasites.  Anyone who has read the Bible or the church fathers will have no problems with the rantings of an engineer.

David Fleer Conference speaker's pick? It is a reasonable conclusion that if David Fleer is directing the preaching (rhetoric) then he MUST affirm the false teachings of the lecturers.  Rather than preaching the Psalms from imagination, the direct command of Paul was to SPEAK to one to another with one mind and one mouth.  The purpose was to glorify or praise God who wrote all of the songs and sermons, to edify or educate, to comfort with Scripture and this would keep the peace: this is the way Jesus sings to the Gentiles.  Under the review of Lynn Anderson promoting instrumental music we have shown that the Psalms were connected to the Military and were used to make war and never to make worship. Translating into Greek recognized the foundational WARFARE and POLLUTING of the plucking and handling. In a second major sense psallo pointed to the polluted rope used to MARK those who loitered around the preaching, singing, meats, where Jesus treated the pipers, singers and dancers as another vile commodity. This forces them to the Ekklesia which was for verbal instruction only: no music and no drama.  Click for what went on in the Agora or Marketplace.

No one can be popular and honored as a source who SPEAKS the WORD, Logos or Regulative Principle. God put HIS WORDS directly into the MOUTH of Jesus without needing a spirit god.  Jesus put His words into the mouth of the Apostles and men like Peter left us A MEMORY.

Cleophus J. LaRue of Princeton Theological Seminary, a Missionary Baptist minister. He is the author of "This is My Story; Testimonies and Sermons of Black Women in Ministry."

LaRue identifies five “domains of experience” through which the preacher interprets the presence and working of divine power: personal piety, care of the soul, social justice, corporate concerns, and institutional maintenance of the church. The pastor must help the congregation see how God’s sovereignty and power affect these domains. Thefollowing are the contemporary preachers LaRue examines: Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., Katie G.Cannon, Mozella Mitchell, Fred C. Lofton, and Carolyn Ann Knight.  The reviewer noting the claim of black spirituality asks: Indeed, these latter preachers claim that if God is omnipotent and yet allows evil to continue unabated, then this God is not fully just or loving.

Carroll D. Osburn: "There is major disagreement on whether one should use the Bible to undergird doctrines in a "proof-texting way, or whether one should allow doctrine to emerge from understanding texts in their literary and historical contexts. Certainly these differing views of Scripture lie behind differing views of women in the church" (p. 90).

"The Bible is not so much a 'heaven-sent answer book' as a historical book produced within and for a historical community-- yet it serves as Scripture today because people find themselves accountable to it. That is what make its Scripture" (p. 46).

John York (Woodmont Hills Family min. & Rubel Shelly's associate) FINALLY has "Instrumental Music" but only the PERFORMERS are Worshipped.

The Elders Claim to be Supernaturally guided to sow discord.

David Lipscomb Summer Celebration:   From Post Modernism to New Age Ocultism influence? The Staff of most "christian" universities have clearly adopted the views of postmodernism -- which began as a college prank. ;-) Jesus warned you about "doctors of the Law?" That is why the musical idolaters doing a pagan PLAY thought they were very cute and wise but God and those watching saw them as a laughingstock: and so do we.

Peter claims a face to face revelation from Jesus The Christ Who validated HIS words by miracles.  Peter then MARKS as a false teacher those who do not "teach that which" he left as a written record.  The paradigm (patternism) of the Exodus is that when the people rejected the WRITTEN Covenant of Grace, they were blinded.  Paul said that until they converted or were baptized into Christ they would not be able to read the BLACK text on BROWN paper.  Dennis Dewey and the the speakers REPUDIATE THAT and cannot read and REPUDIATES reading the silent ink on paper and therefore DO NOT have the power to IMPOSE their IMAGINATIONS on totally literate "sheep" who needs NO WOLVES (the musical-drama Cynics) to TRAFFIC on widows.  Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees hypocrites by pointing to rhetoricians, singers and instrument players. On the contrary, it takes no imagination to know that:
Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city
        them that preach him,
being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
Maybe Lipscomb University is in the MARKETING business of selling CENTERING PRAYER and preaching and DRAMATIZING out of their own imaginations, but the literate will never buy from the clearly Biblically-illiterate.  Maybe Lipscomb should set up remedial reading for the preachers so they can read from the TEXT: if they do not the warning is that they are guided by false spirits.
Eph. 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
Eph. 3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
Eph. 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
Eph. 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men,
        as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
Reclaiming the Imagination:
The Exodus as Paradigmatic Narrative for Preaching

This conference proposes that WE allow the worlds imagined
        in the essential biblical narratives
to dramatically shape our preaching and lives.
We believe that preaching reconstitutes biblical paradigms when it engages Scripture’s vision
  1. by REpresenting what is absent
  2. and making present what is inaccessible
  3. to the end that followers of God will live into a God-shaped reality.
Notes from God about ungodly imagination.
We identify biblical paradigms [Patterns] through the emphases Israel and the church gave them or by the claims made by the texts themselves.

What Paul calls “of first importance” and Jesus describes as “weightier” suggest a hierarchy of values--that some parts of Scripture have greater claim than others. These pivotal texts which echo through Scripture should craft the Christian experience as well.   See note of first.

With a vision deeply rooted in biblical studies and a homiletic that seeks to live in the world Scripture envisions, this year we ask:
What claims on our lives does the Exodus narrative imagine?

Join us as we move into this world with the desire that our preaching, our lives, and the congregations we serve might better engage the essential realities.

Lipscomb University lists the experts they do not give the denominational background. They defacto agree with the false doctrine of those teachers.

When a group turns to music, drama, visions and imagination it is a frantic effort to restore Mother Goddess Worship.. That is why rhetoric is defined as effeminate along with singing and music.

Gen. 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Gen. 8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
For those still attached to the masculine WORD of God John warns us of the mother of harlots (Revelation 17) who uses the lusted after "fruits" as rhetoricians, singers and instrument players. John calls them sorcerers who HAD deceived the whole world.  The musicians or Muses are the dirty adulteress "musical worship team" working for Apollo, Abaddon or Apollyon.

THE RISE OF MOTHER GODDESS WORSHIP

In warning against women and the outbreak of wrath or orgy, Paul markes the priests of Cybele who were emasculated and even had a sex reassignment before jethey could qualify.  Therefore, the quest for the VISIONS and IMAGINATION is the clear MARK of a total taking capture of a church or once Christian university.

Lynn Anderson and Rubel Shelly have followed the feminists and Lesbian Methodists in their revisioning or reimaging of the church: they claim that they have new SPETACLES.

Karen Armstrong, in A History of God, shows how the pagan clergy attempted to neutralize the One God Who was spoken of as male:
"God lay beyond 'gender' but, as in the Enuma Elish, each pair of emanations consisted of a male and female--a scheme which attempted to neutralize the masculine tenor of more conventional monotheism. Each pair of emanations grew weaker and more attenuated, since they were getting even further from their divine Source." (p. 95)
Speaking of the mystics, Armstrong showed how the new, gender-neutral gods are to be worshipped:
"This God is to be approached through the imagination and can be seen as a kind of art form, akin to the other great artistic symbols that have expressed the ineffable mystery, beauty and the value of life.

Mystics have used music, dancing, poetry, fiction, stories, painting, sculpture and architecture to express this Reality which goes beyond concepts." (P. 396)
Lynn Anderson: The mind-set of the times threatens to strip our faith of symbols, rituals, dramas, mystery, poetry, and story,
which say about life and God what logic and reason and rationalism can never say. See Volkism
Guided Imagery:
David Hunt, in his two books, The Seduction of Christianity (1985) and Beyond Seduction (1987), first chronicled the influence of Carl Jung's ideas in the modern church. He wrote of Agnes Sanford whose visualization techniques are founded in
shamanistic practices of the occult and
who expressed pantheistic beliefs similar to those held by Carl Jung.
The Vineyard Christian Fellowships, headed by John Wimber, are heavily involved in the use of imagination, visualization, and inner healing. There has been criticism that to a large extent allowing God to "guide the imagination" has been placed on a level equal to the authority of the Bible, which has created a great deal of confusion. David Hunt, (p. 174 Seduction of Christianity

John was literate and understood Hesiod and we understand the meaning of the LOCUSTS as the Muses of Revelation.

[25] the Muses of Olympus, daughters of Zeus who holds the aegis: "Shepherds of the wilderness, wretched things of shame, mere bellies, we know how to speak many false things as though they were true; but we know, when we will, to utter true things."
David Lipscomb Still speaks for the OWNERS: All service in his kingdom not ordained by him, all organizations not builded by him, not commanded in his word, are without the seals of his blood, are unsanctified and defile the temple of God.

The letter to the Hebrews x: 28, further declares, "He who despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses. Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done despite to the Spirit of grace." [45]

To despise Moses' law was to turn from the law given by Moses and sealed by the typical blood, to service not so given. He who turns from the appointments given by the Son of God, sealed by his blood, revealed and confirmed by the Spirit of God,  or places upon equality with them as service to God the acts and institutions of man's wisdom, tramples under foot the authority of Jesus Christ, and makes it nothing.

For if man's wisdom can guide into the service of God, it is as good as the wisdom of God. So to make services based on the opinions of man, not sealed by the blood of Christ, a part of the worship of God, is to place them upon equality with the blood-sealed appointments of Jesus Christ and the wisdom and authority of man on equality with the wisdom and authority of God. To do this is to count the blood of Christ which seals the covenant, unholy--that is, without sanctifying efficacy. If service in the ways based on man's opinions, unsealed by the blood of Christ, is acceptable to God, it is equal to that service rendered through the blood-sealed appointments, hence the blood is of no avail, it is unholy, and does not consecrate or sanctify the service sealed by it.

To serve God in ways based on the opinions of man, is to turn from the Spirit, is to refuse to be led by the Spirit, and is to place his teachings on a level with the teachings of God. Hence the seal of the blood and the teachings of the Spirit are of no value. To introduce or observe a service based on the opinions or wisdom of man, is to trample under foot the Son of God, despise his authority, count the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified an unholy thing, and do "despite unto the Spirit of Grace." Those who thus treat the law of him who speaks from heaven, will receive a punishment much sorer than those who rejected the law of Moses.

David Lipscomb continues: "As an example, the Spirit of God said,

"Christians [46] must speak to themselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord."

Here is Divine requirement for singing.
........This comes to us as the direction of the Spirit [the Word]
........sealed with the blood of Christ.
........Man's opinion introduces an organ.

When an organ is introduced into the worship
........it is placed on equality with the singing.
........It is really placed above it,
........and over-rides and supersedes it.

But say it is there as a part of the service of God.
It stands on equality with the appointments of God.

The authority of the Spirit and the blood of Christ go for nothing--they are not needed to render the service acceptable, since the organ without the authority of God and the blood of Christ, is acceptable.

If any service not authorized by the word of God,
not sealed by the blood of Christ, is acceptable to God---then that authority and blood are not needed to render any service acceptable,
........ and to introduce those not authorized and sealed
........ is to declare the sanction of the Spirit and the seal of the blood
...... ..are not needed--not holy--do not sanctify.

It is equally true of institutions in which we serve God.
........The churches of Christ, local and distinct,
........are ordained by God--sealed by the blood of Jesus,
........and given us by the Spirit of God, for the purpose
........of saving and elevating men and honoring God.

To accept these and work in them, is to honor their author and
........ to show an appreciation of the blood that seals them,
........ and it is to follow the Spirit of God.

To organize other institutions upon the opinion or judgment of man, through which to work,
is to declare man's judgment equal to the wisdom of God,
........it is to declare the sanctifying power of the blood, not needed,
........or it is to ignore that there is sanctifying power in the blood
........and to set at naught the teachings of the Spirit.

This is to trample under foot the Son of God, to count the blood of the covenant unholy--without sanctifying power, and thus [47] to set at naught or do despite to the Spirit of Grace.

This is true of all service based on the authority of man's opinions or judgment.

The pastor distinct from the eldership, is added as a matter of opinion.

This opinion of man becomes equivalent to or above the order of God,
........which ordains the elders as the teachers.
........The pastorate becomes more important than the eldership.
........It degrades the authority that ordains the eldership for the church.  Again, the Lord ordained that his church should be carried forward by free gifts, honestly gained, cheerfully given by his children. This has the sanction of the Spirit, and is sealed by the blood of Christ.

Men on their opinions hold festivals, fairs and frolics, to entice men, for fleshly gratification, to give their money, and this is brought into the temple of God, on an equal footing with that contributed according to the direction of God. This is to trample under foot the Lord Jesus Christ, to count the blood of the covenant unholy, of no value, and it is to do despite to the Spirit of Grace.

These things are properly defined "fads, fancies, preferences, based on opinion and nothing but opinion." To introduce them into the worship or church of God, is to make man's opinion a basis and rule of action for the church, and a fad or fancy or human opinion, equal to a blood-sealed ordinance of God. This is to place man's opinion on an equality with the word of God. This is to degrade the authority of God, to trample under foot the Lord Jesus and his authority, to count the blood of the covenant unholy, of no value, and to reject the teachings of the Holy Spirit.

Because Israel rejected The Book of The Covenant of Grace and IMAGED the musical idolatry of Egypt, God truned them over to worship the starry host (Acts 7 etal).  The Book of The Law regulated the Lawless and the Monarch, Monarchy, Sacrifices, Exorcising "music" and Temple was NOT for God but for a GOYIM or pagan worship to which God abandoned them.

Ex. 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

When you GRAVE the image of your own heart on sermons and songs you have fallen into idolatry of your own mind. You have also violated direct commands to "speak that which is written" and of the elders to "teach that which has been taught." There was no imagination allowed in connection with the Word of God.

I will examine these false teachings which biblical studies and a homiletic totally missed in time.  I will post some TRUE HISTORY and NO IMAGINATION or HALLUCINATION and link them below.
What Paul calls “of first importance” and Jesus describes as “weightier” suggest a hierarchy of values--that some parts of Scripture have greater claim than others. These pivotal texts which echo through Scripture should craft the Christian experience as well.

Here is what Paul really said:

1 Cor. 15:1 MOREOVER, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

1 Cor. 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

1 Cor. 15:3 For I
...........delivered unto you first of all
........... that which I also received,
........... how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

Protos (h4413) pro'-tos; contr. superl. of 4253; foremost (in time, place, order or importance): - before, beginning, best, chief (- est), first (of all), former.

The word protos is like prototype: Jesus was crucified, buried and the Spirit returned to him and he was resurrected.

The beginning or ARCHE in Mark 1:1 identifies the "most important part of the gospel" for we who could not die for our sins. We obey a FORM of that PROTOTYPE gospel and on then are we saved.  Therefore, Christ's act has no importance to us unless we imitate it in baptism.   All that Jesus Christ did is pivotal and there can be no single, most valuable part.

SPEAKERS:

Walter Brueggemann of Columbia Theological Seminary of Decatur, GA. He is a United Church of Christ minister. Acclaimed as "the most heuristic interpreter of the Old Testament

"Perhaps the most startling conclusion that Brueggemann arrives at from this construct is that we cannot help but interpret the biblical texts so that our own "good" morality is in agreement with what the authors of the texts appear to be saying.

"Well, to make a long story short, the authors of the Bible had their own particular godly motives for bringing these texts before us; and the moral lessons aren't always written in front of us.

"Brueggemann explains: "These texts are not to be taken prescriptively, but are an offer into our zone of imagination. They invite us to reflect upon the exercise of social power and social leverage that makes some strong and some weak, some worthy and some undeserving."

Isn't the statement "not to be taken prescriptively" just as rigid as "ARE to be taken prescriptively?" Isn't the Bible given as a curriculum for church or synagogue as "school of the Bible?" However, unclear the text may be or how much it may disturb us, basic honesty demands that we leave the text just as it is because IT IS A LIE to claim that "you cannot pervert Paul's writings to your own destruction." Love means that I have to tell you that lies sell books.

"A postmodern climate recognizes that there is no given definition and that the rival claims must widely and uncritically be accepted as objectively real...

But: Jesus refused to accept the givens of his context and voiced a different reality that is borne on the countertext..."

Walter Brueggemann Partial Thesis:
Walter Brueggermann is professor emeritus of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. This article appeared in The Christian Century, January 3-10, 2001, pp. 14-20
The process of interpretation which precludes final settlement on almost all questions is evident in the Bible itself. A stunning case in point is the Mosaic teaching in Deuteronomy 23:1-8 that bans from the community all those with distorted sexuality and all those who are foreigners. In Isaiah 56:3-8 this Mosaic teaching is overturned in the Bible itself, offering what Herbert Donner terms an intentional "abrogation" of Mosaic law through new teaching.
The old, no doubt circumstance-driven exclusion
is answered by a circumstance-driven inclusiveness.
That exclusion based on the prostitutes and Sodomites which whirled around all religious institutes, have never been included.  The inclusion under the prophetic thread had nothing to do with the emasculated.

It may be that Brueggerman missed the musical idolatry at Mount Sinai where God turned them over to worship the starry host and gave them laws which were not good: The Book of  The Law. The Law of Moses as a "secont law" superceded The Book of The Covenant of Grace and was to legislate and protect the poor from the rich: that included protecting women from evil or "hard" me.  As related to God's abandonment of them (Acts 7) and because the new "god" was their old Dionysus and the worship of the Mother goddess or Queen of heaven, men were intentionally emasculated and had their penis removed and even a "gender orientation" so they could serve as Catamites or male prostitues.

Brueggemann Contradiction 1:

Major Premise which excluded all of the Egypt-contaminated generation:
Deut. 23:1 He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off,
shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees hypocrites by pointing to rhetoricians, singers and instrument players.

Gregory Nazianzen parallels Jesus "casting out the musical minstrels like dung" and consigning the pipers, singers and dancers to the marketplace: that is because Jesus said that the MEN were like CHILDREN which means the effeminate.  Gregory also understands what happened as a result of musical idolatry when God turned them over to worship the starry hosts (Acts 7 etal). When people presume to preach from imagination rather than teach that which been taught God, too, turns them over to a perverted form of "worship" where the myths or music intended to shut the mouth of the victim: sacred violence.
For what they worship as true, they veil as mythical. But if these things are true, they ought not to be called myths,  but to be proved not to be shameful; and if they are false, they ought not to be objects of wonder; nor ought people so inconsiderately to hold the most contrary opinions about the same thing,
as if they were playing in the market-place with boys or really ill-disposed men,
not engaged in discussion with men of sense,
               and worshippers of the Word,
though despisers of this artificial plausibility. [imagination]

Eleusis knows these things, and so do those who are eyewitnesses of what is there guarded by silence, and well worthy of it. Nor is our commemoration one of Dionysus, and the thigh that travailed with an incomplete birth, as before a head had travailed with another; nor of the hermaphrodite god, nor a chorus of the drunken and enervated host; nor of the folly of the Thebans which honours him; nor the thunderbolt of Semele which they adore. Nor is it the harlot mysteries of Aphrodite, who, as they themselves admit, was basely born and basely honoured; nor have we here Phalli and Ithyphalli.

Nor are these Thracian orgies, from which the word Worship (
threskia) is said to be derived; nor rites and mysteries of Orpheus, whom the Greeks admired so much for his wisdom that they devised for him a lyre which draws all things by its music.

Nor the tortures of Mithras which it is just that those who can endure to be initiated into such things should suffer; nor the manglings of Osiris, another calamity honoured by the Egyptians; nor the ill-fortunes of Isis and the goats more venerable than the Mendesians, and the stall of Apis, the calf that luxuriated in the folly of the Memphites, nor all those honours with which they outrage the Nile, while themselves proclaiming it in song to be the Giver of fruits and corn, and the measurer of happiness by its cubits.

The scapegoat continued that imposed curse and in the literature is also CAPPELLA and Acappella (a perversion of a cappella) sings the "goat songs" as the mark of PAN.

See How the imagination, preaching, drama music restores the AGORA or marketplace to which Jesus has consigned them and they wot not.
RESTORATION OF THE A CAPPELLA (FALSETTOS) INTO THE CHURCH AS "MUSICAL WORSHIP MINISTERS" serving the Mother of harlots (Reve 17) as lusted after "fruits" performing as RHETORICIANS, singers and instrument players: John called the sorcery.  One such craft was RHETORIC which is the first meaning of a HYPOCRITE.

Acappella (perversion of a cappella) singers for the pope were literal castrates who could outperform the FALSETTOS used in Israel, in the Sistine Chapel and in a church close to you:

The Holy Convocation which came to be each sabbath was EXCLUSIVE of vocal or instrumental rejoicing. This excluded the professional musicians who would destroy the role of the Qahal ro "rest, read and rehearse the Word. It also eleminated PREACHING as a rhetorical or hypocritic skill perfectly obvious in modern churches:
Is. 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
REMEMBERING (or just hearing it) because of musical idolatry, God turned the nation over to worship the starry host: this is known as Sabazianism This points directly to Dionysus or similar figures which engulfed Egypt, Canaan, Greece and Babylon. One should not EXPECT that this worship is a PATTERNISM for the Church of Christ:

Originally only priestesses officiated before Cybele. However, when Crete was overthrown, the Cretan priests of Zeus, the Curates, migrated to Phrygia. There they joined the Corybantes and became the Galli, or priests of the Great Mother. The Corybantes were the half human sons of Cronus who danced wildly and banged their shields and weapons together to prevent Cronus from hearing the cries of the infant Zeus, whom Cronus would have killed. The priests, like the Galla before them, were complete eunuchs. They had long hair, perfumed with fragrances and ointments and wore women's garb--as did Dionysus. These complete eunuchs were not just castrated as most eunuch, but also had their entire penis removed, leaving an opening which was used as a vagina for sex. The Galli were introduced at the same time as the cult of Attis came into existence. The Galla of Sumer and later Akkad and Babylon may well be the priests from which the later Aryans derived the name Gall or Gaul, who settled in France and Germany.

Click to see the changes from the Law made by David.

"The trained musicians which eventually appear around the time of David and Solomon mark a distinctive change in the history of Jewish music. Before this time much of the music was made by women." (Zondervan Pict., Music p. 313).

This is exactly what happened when God abandoned Israel to the Monarchy.  However the ASSEMBLY is Qahal or synagogue where these perverted musical performers were excluded.  Paul knew something about Eve and Miriam theologians will never grasp:

Sistrum
, a metallic rattle which was used by the Egyptians in celebrating the rites of Isis, and in other lascivious festivals,. By the Jews, Vulg. 1 Reg. 18, 6 .--Hence sarcastically, as if used for a war - trumpet by the wanton Cleopatra
Exodus 15:[20] sumpsit ergo Maria prophetis soror Aaron tympanum in manu egressaeque sunt omnes mulieres post eam cum tympanis et choris

Tympanotriba , ae, m., = tumpanotribês,  I. a taborer, a timbrel-player, a term of reproach for a soft, effeminate person (alluding to the priests of Cybele), Plaut. Truc. 2, 7, 49; cf. tympanum.

Of the pipers, singers and dancers as well as orators Jesus consigned to the Agora:

T. Maccius Plautus, Truculentus, or The Churl
STRATOPHANES Say you so, indeed? I'll first make trial of that. Do you, for the sake of such a shabby present, vegetables, and comestibles, and vinegar-water, bestow your love upon an effeminate, frizzle-pated, dark-haunt frequenting, drum-drubbing debauchee

6 Is he deranged: "Hariolus." Literally, "a soothsayer," or "diviner." In their prophetic frenzy, these persons often had the appearance of being mad, and were so considered.
7 Drum-drubbing debauchee: "Typanotriba." Literally, "drum," or "tambourine beater." He alludes to the eunuch-priests of Cybele, who used to beat tambourines in her procession-probably in allusion to debauchees, emasculated by riot and dissipation

Eumolpus purifies Heracles from the murder of the Centaurs;  as musician, he instructs him (as well as Linus and Orpheus) in playing the lyre, and is the reputed inventor of vocal accompaniments to the flute.

Suidas reckons him one of the early poets and a writer of hymns of consecration, and Diodorus Siculus quotes a line from a Dionysiac hymn attrbuted to Eumolpus.

He is also said to have been the first priest of Dionysus, and to have introduced the cultivation of the vine and fruit trees (Pliny, Nat. Hist. Vii. 199). His grave was shown at Athens and Eleusis. His descendants, called Eumolpidae, together with the Kerykes, were the hereditary guardians of the mysteries (q.v.).

Eunuch: The hideous trade of castrating boys to be sold as eunuchs for Moslem harems has continued
to modern times, the principal district whence they are taken being north-central Africa (Bagirmi, &c.;).

As the larger proportion of children die after the operation (generally total removal) owing to unskilful surgery, such as recover fetch at least three or four times the ordinary price of slaves.

Even more vile, as being practised by a civilized European nation, was the Italian practice of castrating boys to prevent the natural development of the voice, in order to train them as adult soprano singers, such as might formerly be heard in the Sistine chapelThough such mutilation is a crime punishable with severity, the supply of "soprani "never failed so long as their musical powers were in demand in high quarters. Driven long ago from the Italian stage by public opinion, they remained the musical glory and moral shame of the papal choir till the accession of Pope Leo XIII., one of whose first acts was to get rid of them.

Deut. 23:2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD;
even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
4464 Mamzer, mongrel: Jewish father and  a heathen mother.
Deut. 23:3 An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD;
even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever:
Deut. 23:4 Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee.
Deut. 23:5 Nevertheless the LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD thy God loved thee.
Deut. 23:6 Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever.
Deut. 23:7 Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.
Deut. 23:8 The children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation of the LORD in their third generation.
Minor Premise:

Now, Deuteronomy comes long before Isaiah if we believe the Bible. All of the regulations other than homosexuality were limited in scope. When the restrictions of the LAW were relieved by the Spirit OF Christ through the prophets, this is NOT changing of the original.

Is. 56:1 Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.

Is. 56:2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.

Polluting the Sabbath at Mount Sinai was musical idolatry. Here, acceptance is conditional.  As the ancient castratos were excluded from the Qahal (church), those who polluted the Sabbath are defined with the same sin;

2490.  khaw-lal´; a primitive root (compare 2470); properly, to bore, i.e. (by implication) to wound, to dissolve; figuratively, to profane (a person, place or thing), denom. (from 2485) to play (the flute):..  take inheritance, pipe, player on instruments, pollute, (cast as) profane (self), prostitute, slay (slain), sorrow, stain, wound

Isa 56:3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the Lord, speak, saying, The Lord hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.

5631 Saw-reece castrated to become a valet in a female apartment or minister of state. This does NOT included those castrated to be prostitutes, falsetto singers and instrument players always dedicated to the mother goddess.

No one could keep the Sabbath and perform the perverted roles: You cannot seek your own pleasure or speak your own words. How could you sing, clap and play instruments.

Isa 56:4 For thus saith the Lord unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;

It would not be possible to kee SABBATH or the Greek PAUO Jesus died to give us and pollute with "musical or performance preaching worship."

Isa 56:5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Isa 56:6

Again: 2490. lAlDj chalal, khaw-lal´; a primitive root (compare 2470); properly, to bore, i.e. (by implication) to wound, to dissolve; figuratively, to profane (a person, place or thing), to break (one’s word), to begin (as if by an “opening wedge”); denom. (from 2485) to play (the flute):--begin ( men began), defile, x break, defile, x eat (as common things), x first, x gather the grape thereof, x take inheritance, pipe, player on instruments, pollute, [Lucifer] (cast as) profane (self), prostitute, slay (slain), sorrow, stain, wound.

Flute-Players Plato Cratylus
Such causes as these are like far-fetched explanations; I mean stating the middle term in too remote a form, e.g., the dictum of Anacharsis that there are
no flute-players among the Scythians because there are no vines.146

1,13,n146. The full chain of implication is something like "flute-playing--thirstywork--heavy drinking--wine--grapes-- vines." Anacharsis was a Scythian ethnologist of the sixth century B.C. (Herodotus iv. 76).

Her. What is the meaning of Dionysus and Aphrodite?

Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called a house of prayer for all people. Isa 56:7

The remnant, reserved or predestinated are those who did not fall into pagan religionism of which music was the MARK of polluting or prostituting.

The Lord God, which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him. Isa 56:8

All ye beasts (merry congregation, or multitude, singing and dancing) of the field, come to devour, yea, all ye beasts in the forest. Isaiah 56:9

Conclusion: There is no "intentional abrogation of Mosaic Law through new teaching." This is FALSE and is derived from reading another BOOK and not the Bible.  The time period had been fulfilled and the prophets spoke by the Spirit of Christ who gave The Book of The Covenant which came both before the Law of Moses and after.

Brueggemann Contradiction 2:
Walter Brueggemann In Deuteronomy 24:1, moreover, Moses teaches that marriages broken in infidelity cannot be restored, even if both parties want to get back together. But in Jeremiah 3, in a shocking reversal given in a pathos-filled poem, God’s own voice indicates a readiness to violate that Torah teaching for the sake of restored marriage to Israel. The old teaching is seen to be problematic even for God. The latter text shows God prepared to move beyond the old prohibition of Torah in order that the inherent evangelical claims of God’s graciousness may be fully available even to a recalcitrant Israel. In embarrassment and perhaps even in humiliation, the God of Jeremiah’s poem willfully overrides the old text. It becomes clear that the interpretive project that constitutes the final form of the text is itself profoundly polyvalent, yielding no single exegetical outcome, but allowing layers and layers of fresh reading in which God’s own life and character are deeply engaged and put at risk.
He misses the point that the men put the women "out of his house"  which stigmatized her as unclean but there is NO INFIDELITY in this example.  In order to prevent the men from "seriel putting out and taking back" Moses wrote a law which made the man think twice.  The BROKEN part only applies to the wife who has taken another husband.

Major Premise:

Deut XXIV. When a man takes a wife, and marries her, then it shall be,
if she find no favor in his eyes, because he has found some unseemly thing in her,
that he shall write her a bill of divorce, and give it in her hand, and send HER out of HIS house.

Unseemly can mean nudity, blemish, shame: he needed no excuse if she was an adulteress. Deut 24:

[2] When she is departed out of his house,
............ she may go and be another man's [wife].

[3] If the latter husband hate her,
............ and write her a bill of divorce,
............ and give it in her hand,
............ and send her out of his house;
............ or if the latter husband die,
............ who took her to be his wife;

[4] her former husband, who sent her away,
.............may not take her again to be his wife,
............ after that she is defiled [with respect to him];
............ for that is abomination before Yahweh:
............ and you shall not cause the land to sin,
............ which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance.

Minor Premise:

For we humans there is no literal change!

Jer 3:1 THEY say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another mans, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the Lord.

For God this is a figure of speech: God is not under the Law of Moses!  Jesus said that God fooled the foolish with parables. God was no longer married to Israel.
Jer. 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery
        I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce;
yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

Only Judah could be returned to Zion and Jesus said that He was still married to her. Even so, this was only a tiny remnant and did not include either "nation.

Jer 3:14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord;
for I am married unto you:

and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
Jer 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

This has the same figurative meaning in 1 Corinthians 7

Rom. 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Conclusion: God does not violate the Law made to regulate evil males.

WALTER BRUEGGEMAN: IDEOLOGY

He says that If you believe that homosexuality is wrong you MUST believe in capitalism and national defense. Therefore, if you believe in capitalism that is why you believe what the Bible and common experience says about homosexuality.   However, the church is a missionary body and a school of the Bible: it is IN the world but it is not OF the world.  Liberation theology and the "Jubilee" patternism sees the church as a social action or political movement and ceases to be the ekklesia or synagogue of Christ.
Some modern themes he addresses include consumerism, conspicuous consumption, the "wanton exhibitionism of the wealthy," "shameless luxury," exploitation of the vulnerable and resourceless, covetous agribusiness of "avaricious landowners," self indulgence, injustice, urban decline, hypocrisy, militarism, social exploitation, geopolitics  of superpowers, and nuclear waste.
That is what God thought of the CIVIL-CLERGY in Israel: Nehemiah and others make it clear that they were robbers and parasites imposed BECAUSE of sin.  This is what Paul and Peter thought of rhetoricians, singers and instrument players who performed ONLY to collect money and were therefore known as parasites.

Brueggerman missed the greatest exploiter of all history: religious operatives who want a tenth of your gross to build temples or theaters for holy entertainment including preaching, colleges to manufacture theologians when Jesus said that "they take away the key to knowledge" and on and on.   So to such a "profound" observation of human nature beginning with the Cainite family we say, "So What?"  The world is filled with a Crooked Generation and the gospel is to enable people to "save themselveves from this crooked generation."  Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees "hypocrites," by pointing to Isaiah and Ezekiel where the Spirit of Christ MARKS rhetoricians, singers and instrument players.

Is there any profession which has no "certificate of need" more than theology or "preaching" which rarely teaches the text without using "imagination" where Gallup says that 85% of the "stories" are just fabricated--lies if you will.

Jesus absolutely said that Isaiah (and Ezekiel 33) prophesied of the MOUTH religionists: Was Jesus lying?
Mark 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

Ezekiel 33 is a parallel and points out rhetoricians, singers and instrument players
WALTER BRUEGGEMAN: No problem with homosexuality because God apparently changed the Law?
Walter Brueggermann And we make “a huge leap to imagine that an ancient Purity Code in Leviticus 18 bears upon consenting gays and lesbians in the twenty-first century…” (although gay people find supposedly more sound argument in Brueggeman’s earlier idea of situational - perhaps, more accurately, evolutionalabrogation of earlier biblical decrees).
The justice trajectory has “decisively and irreversibly defeated the purity trajectory” (196) in light of the gospel.

There is enough truth in every such interpretive posture and strategy -- and a hundred others we might name -- to make it credible and to gather a constituency for it. But it is not ideologically innocent, and therefore has no absolute claim.

In a disputatious church, a healthy practice might be to reflect upon the ideological passion not of others, but on one’s self and one’s cohorts.

I believe that such reflection would invariably indicate that every passionate interpretive voice is shot through with vested interest, sometimes barely hidden.

It is completely predictable that interpreters who are restrictive about gays and lesbians
will characteristically advocate high capitalism and a strong national defense.
Conversely, those who are ‘open and affirming"
will characteristically maintain a critique of consumer capitalism,
and consensus on a whole cluster of other issues.

One can argue that such a package only indicates a theological-ethical coherence. Perhaps, but in no case is the package innocent, since we incline to make our decisions without any critical reflection, but only in order to sustain the package.
Pro Homosexual: The push in the mainline church, then, is to accept homosexuality as a perfectly viable option.  The most visible cause has been the ordaining of homosexuals to the ministry, and the performing of “same-sex unions” by clergy.  But the wider issue is whether to teach homosexuality as a sin, or as “diversity of sexual expression.”  One official board of the Episcopal Church passed out condoms at its 1994 annual convention.  A bishop was seen wearing a button with his agenda: “Sexuality, not spirituality.”  Fifteen bishops at the General Conference of the Untied Methodist Church in 1996 declared that they could not uphold the official Church Discipline, which regards homosexuality as a sin.  The bishop of the Episcopal diocese of California drafted opposition to a proposition which stated “Only marriage between a man and woman is valid or recognized in California.”  He called the proposition unfair and intolerant.  Do these positions on homosexuality make it to the lay level? Thomas Reeves reports that the Presbyterian Church (USA) has taught homosexuality in its preschool curriculum!

Pro Socialism: Why has the liberal church embraced socialism to such a large degree; and thus, why has it rejected the West, democracy, individualism, and capitalism?  This all has to do with the humanistic foundation of liberalism.  Humanists have a great deal of faith in the ability of human beings.  They are highly optimistic about the potential of humans.  Since humans are so great, they reason, we have the ability to create an ideal political state-- all on our own. (This is the ideology of the U.N.).  That is, we do not need the intervention of God, nor a theocracy, nor the ideological rule of God in heaven.  Such concepts are considered religio-centric and bigoted by the liberal.  Instead, liberals want humans to create their utopia right here on Earth.  This ideology is nothing other than Marxism.  I asked why there is a connection between liberalism and Marxism.  The answer should be clear. They have identical ideologies (a human-founded utopia) and identical premises (that humans have power within themselves to inaugurate such a utopian state).
Hazards in the Mainline Part 5 Chapter 16 The nature of Ethics
Imagination lets you miss the universal trinity of homosexuality-music-and dramatic performance. The message begins at the beginning.

Narrative theology, feminist theology and Liberation theology fuel the postmodern view which is ANTI-Capitalism. That is why modern "community" churches are defined clearly as COMMUNES where "the individual has no right to read, interpret or speak the Word OUTSIDE of the community reading."

The solution of Jesus was to fire the "doctors of the Law who took away the keys to knowledge." Secondly, the direct commands and approved examples for the ekklesia, synagogue or school of the Bible was to read and discuse the Word of God--ONLY.  Paul outlawed doubtful disputations which arise out of human opinion and Peter outlawed private interpretation or "further expounding."  The Word of God makes claims for itself and any presumption to do exegesis rather than teaching declares that the unlawful theologion has more to say that God. That IS the only reason for "preaching" as opposed to teaching.

WALTER BRUEGGEMAN: IMAGINATION

The Law of Silence. While it can be valuable to "imagine" something not clear in the text, the role of preaching is to "teach that which has been taught" and if we allow the word "sing" to "sing that which is written." Jesus says that My Words are Spirit and they are life and Paul "ministered" the Spirit by preaching. We minister the "Spirit" when we sing that which is written.  Using one mind and one mouth we are bound together with God and His people in all ages.  The purpose driving this is to prepare the "sheep" to live and work in the world and not to prepare them to become "doctors of the Law."
The third facet Brueggemann mentions is imagination. In seeking to understand and apply Scripture we ought to employ this faculty of creative imagining to envision “a movement of the text beyond itself in fresh ways.” It takes a measure of fantasy or imagination to “transpose ancient voices into contemporary voices of authority.” Brueggemann claims that we do this all the time in interpretation;

“Interpretive humility invites us to recognize that reading in a particular time, place and circumstance can never be absolute, but is more than likely to be displaced by yet another reading in another time and place, a reading that may depart from or even judge the older reading…The Spirit meets us always afresh in our faithful reading, in each new time, place and circumstance.”

The title of Walter Brueggemann’s book Hopeful Imagination is revealing.  He sees the prophetic books of Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Isaiah as imaginative, poetic works which come out of a community that desperately needs hope because of the devastating political situation-- the Babylonian exile in 587 B.C.  Authors used “enormous prophetic imagination...The poets...wrought the new actions of God by the power of their imagination, their tongues, their words.  It’s not clear what Brueggemann means when he says that the poets “wrought” new actions of God.  How could any human ever have “wrought” any action of God?  What is clear in Brueggemann’s text is that he does not accept that the prophets spoke because they were revealing the very person and work of God.  He does not believe that the authors were recording God’s actual dealings with humans, past or future; rather, he says that they “wrought,” i.e., made up, acts of God from their imaginations.  Brueggemann is indelibly clear that he sees the prophetic books to be fanciful (he uses the word “imaginative”) creations of groups of men, rather than the revealed words and prophesies of God.  It would be one thing if Brueggemann were just one professor saying such atrocities.  But he is one of the most widely respected and read professors in the liberal community. Hazards of the mainline, Part 3, Chapter 6 Revelation.

Walter Brueggemann calls Jesus a Liar:

Matt. 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Matt. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Jn 5:41 I receive not honour from men.
Jn 5:42 But I know you, that ye
have not the love of God in you.

Jn 5:43 I am come in my Father's name,
and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name,
        him ye will receive.

Jn 5:44 How can ye believe,

which receive honour one of another,

and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

Jn 5:45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father:

there is one that accuseth you,

even Moses, in whom ye trust.

Jn 5:46 For had ye believed Moses,

ye would have believed me:

for he wrote of me.

Jn 5:47 But if ye believe not his writings,

how shall ye believe my words?

Walter Brueggemann calls Mark a Liar:

Mark 1:1 The beginning [Arche=most important part] of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
Mark 1:2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
Mark 1:3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

Walter Brueggemann calls Peter a Liar:

1Pet. 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1Pet. 1:10  Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently,
who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
1Pet. 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify,
when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
1Pet. 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

Maybe because Peter outlawed theological preachers?
2Pet. 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed,
as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
2Pet. 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture
is of any private interpretation. [No further expounding, no corruption or selling at retail.)

Walter Brueggemann calls Paul a Liar:

2Cor. 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
2Cor. 3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
2Cor. 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
2Cor. 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Walter Brueggemann calls John a Liar:

Rev. 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy
That would miss the point: all recorded history is to transpose US back in time and place to relive those masculine EPICS to learn what our ancestors knew better.  The "praise" of God is only by using that which He gave us.
Rom. 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Rom. 15:5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded
one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
Rom. 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The problem with "the law of silence" is to determine WHOM will be the TRANSPORTER.  Most preaching cannot transpose the prophets by the Spirit of Christ into sermons to radically repudiate the Scribes of the Monarchy and the sacrificial system.  If preachers can and do transpose Hezekiah's Plague stopping animmal slaughter and burning to say that God COMMANDS instrumental praise and we should not be disobedient, then the same preachers who will get their mother's milk from Lipscomb will deny the cross as Brueggeman does by denying prophecy.

Because our imaginations are only evil continually God gave us enough information to work on to stay out of trouble.

8307. shriyruwth, sher-ee-rooth´; from 8324 in the sense of twisted, i.e. firm; obstinacy:--imagination, lust.

8324.  sharar, shaw-rar´; a primitive root; to be hostile (only active participle an opponent):--enemy.

Scripture seems to have these pseudo-scholars who reject that which they FEED OFF:

And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices (plot or paradigm), and we will every one do the imagination (twisting) of his evil heart. Jeremiah 18:12

Therefore thus saith the Lord; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing. Jeremiah 18:13

Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken? Jeremiah 18:14

Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up; Jeremiah 18:15

It is a fact that "preaching" as opposed to the direct commands to read and discuss came into fashion close to the end of the fourth century along with singing as an act, we can listen to God and not have to IMAGINE things to make into sermon outlines.

Ezek 22:28 And her prophets have
daubed them with untempered [Taphel, Tabret, frivolity] morter,
seeing vanity, and divining lies [magical songs] unto them, saying,
Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord hath not spoken.

Livy Liv. 38 17 [3] Among peoples of the most unwarlike sort this fierce tribe, travelling up and down in war, has almost made the world its residence. [4] Tall bodies, long [57] reddish hair, huge shields, very long swords; in addition, songs as they go into battle and yells and leapings and the dreadful din of arms as they clash shields according to some ancestral custom —all these are deliberately used to terrify their foes. [5] But let Greeks and Phrygians and Carians fear these things to which they are unused and unaccustomed; to Romans Gallic riotings are familiar and their vain displays too are well known

Brueggemann: “Imagination can indeed be a gift of the Spirit, but it is a gift used with immense subjective freedom which we would do better to concede, even if that concession makes it unmistakably clear that our imaginative interpretations cannot claim the shrillness of certainty but only the tentativeness of our best extrapolations.

If we do not exercise our imaginations--which God says are evil and not from HIM--from the pulpit from which we might hear the shrillness then we will be safe.
WALTER BRUEGGEMAN: DENYING MESSIANIC PROPHECY AND THE CLAIMS OF JESUS.
Brueggemann saysthose of us who think critically do not believe that the Old Testament was talking about Jesus, and yet we make the linkages.  Texts traditionally understood as prophetic and messianic he generally interprets as "Christian imagination" or "rereadings": for example, the "great light" promised in 9:2 is simply "relief from oppression" not predictive.

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying,
I am the light of the world
: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life.
John 8:13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.

John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

Speaking of those who taught out of their own imagination:

John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me:
for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
John 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil,
and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning,
and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own:
for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8:45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

Brueggemann saysIsa 4:2-6, about a future age of the Branch of the Lord, reflects postexilic redacting of future themes back into the early chapters. Regarding the Branch in 11:1-16, he says, "We are here not to think of the later trinitarian categories of the church. . . ." Isa 9:1-7 is often taken as a "rehearing" of the story in the light of Jesus, but it is not in any way predictive. Further, the depiction of the Righteous King in Isaiah 11 is a public policy statement ("social possibility") for earthly kings and leaders, although it did become Jesus' own standard of righteousness and justice, and thus the cause of his death.
I am not sure why anyone would absrtract the "trinity" from Isaiah 11: it is perfectly clear that the SPIRIT would not be another "person" but the seven Spirits OF Divine knowledge.  Messiah, in the image of the Menorah, would bring the seven Spirits of God to mankind.
Is. 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse,
and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
Is. 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
Is. 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
Is. 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth:
and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth,
and with the breath [Spirit] of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
Peter in 1 Peter 1:11 and John in Revelation 19:10 says that the PROPHETS wrote by the Spirit of Christ. Were they lying.  Jesus said many times that the prophets spoke of Him.  The ONLY clear validation of Jesus as the Messiah would be that the Jelws could see that He fulfilled all that was spoken of Hi.
Matt. 21:4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
Matt. 21:5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
Matt. 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Matt. 26:54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
Matt. 26:56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.
Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
Matt. 27:9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,
And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued,
whom they of the children of Israel did value;  [Zech 11]
Matt. 27:10 And gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.
Matt. 27:35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots:
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet,
They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

The only role of the pastor-teacher is to teach that which is written or what has been taught: if he does not believe that the Spirit of Christ spoke through the prophets then he is a hypocrite for taking pay and does not deserve the name Christian.  If he does believe that God recorded and prophesied "for out learning" then he neither has the POWER to pass judgment on that which feeds him nor would he fail to teach the text and let the power of the Spirit--which Christ put in his words--give the increase.

Other than reading the text, explaining any doctrinal content (in that portion) and admonishing everyone to obey the teaching, the rise of PREACHING David Fleer was adopted from paganism about the same time they adoped music "because it was common to all pagan cults."

Brian McLaren, pastor of the Cedar Ridge Community Church. Author of "Everything Must Change." He is the leader of the Emergent Church movement.   McLaren’s first book, The Church on the Other Side is recognized as a primary portal into the current conversation about postmodern ministry.  You may want watch him attack hell and Jesus' atonement--or maybe not.

One of the points "scholars" miss by reading other scholars is that The Book of The Law was added because of musical idolatry. Later, after the elders fired God and wanted a king like the nations He knew that they wanted to worship like the nations.  Well documented in ancient sacrificial systems is that a "god" could be sacrificed and his blood added to clay to create mankind as a "labor savings machine" so the gods could rest: thus the rise of the Babylonian Sabbath and the Tithe.

Animal sacrifices with loud music was intended to silence the voice of the victim. The hostility under the Law of moses not emerging in churches was that of mankind against God.  It is easy to miss that Elijay shed light on the idolatry of Baal and then killed 450 priests of Baal (1 Kings 18:1-40).  Jesus brought light and life by making sure that all of the clergy in Jerusalem were killed and, like the king of Babylon, consumed on a bed of maggots along with his/her harps and buried alive harpists.  The Atonement Jesus brought was a way to COOL the sacred violence in mankind: that is the meaning of the Greek "Luo."  God gave us permission to afflict ourselves rather than inflict violence againsg God and man by religious ritual.

The role of the shouting and music was to silence the voice of the victim.  Wasn't Jesus musically mocked
Acts 8:32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
Acts 8:33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
45. The Greek verb myo means to close the mouth or shut the eyes. There is debate about whether myo plays a crucial role in the etymology of other significant words such as myth, mystery, and even music. Myth means to close ourselves to the victim and tell the tale according to the perpetrator's perspective; mystery cults are based on the silence of the victims; music derives from drowning out the voice of the victim.
The cross is to be impailed on a tre: figuratively to extinguish (subdue) passion or selfishness. To recrucify is to STIR UP the passion and price.

"I would that they which unsettle you would even cut themselves off." And he says well "that unsettle you."  "A man that is heretical after the first and second admonition refuse." (Tit. iii: 10) If they will, let them not only be circumcised, but mutilated.

Where then are those who dare to mutilate themselves; seeing that they draw down the Apostolic curse, and accuse the workmanship of God, and take part with the Manichees? ... But if you will not allow this,

why do you not mutilate the tongue for blasphemy, the hands for rapine, the feet for their evil courses, in short, the whole body?

For the ear enchanted by the sound of a flute hath often enervated the soul;

We declare Jesus by SPEAKING: speak is the opposite of poetry or music and assuredly loud rhetoric which does not impress the spiritual mind. Speak in the ekklesia means "to whisper or in conversational language." The latin "sermo" means the same thing. Therefore, to use unbelievers to train preachers to violate the commands and examples of Jesus may be a terminal sin.

No one can doubt that "church" intends to silence the DECLARATION of Jesus replaced by PREACHING: there is no office of preaching in the Bible.  Most singing and music INTENDS to silence the declaration of Jesus.  Poets were only allowed to write MYTHS and never the truth:
Strabo wrote about music

Plato Plat. Laws 12.941b
[941b] if convicted. Theft of property is uncivilized, open robbery is shameless: neither of these has any of the sons of Zeus practiced, through delight in fraud or force. Let no man, therefore, be deluded concerning this or persuaded either by poets or by any perverse myth-mongers into the belief that, when he thieves or forcibly robs, he is doing nothing shameful, but just what the gods themselves do.1 That is both unlikely and untrue; and whoever acts thus unlawfully is neither a god at all nor a child of gods;

[941c] and this the lawgiver, as it behoves him, knows better than the whole tribe of poets. He, therefore, that hearkens to our speech is blessed, and deserves blessing for all time; but he that hearkens not shall, in the next place, be holden by this law:--If anyone steals any piece of public property, he shall receive the same punishment, be it great or small. For he that steals a small thing steals with equal greed, though with less power, while he that takes a large thing which he has not deposited does wrong to the full;
Loud cock-sure rhetoric intends to induce fear or psychological violence to make people afraid to oppose them--especially if they are looking for a good grade.

In [10.3.7] Strabo continues, "The accounts which are more remotely related, however, to the present subject, but are wrongly, on account of the identity of the names, brought into the same connection by the historians--I mean those accounts which, although they are called "Curetan History" and "History of the Curetes," just as if they were the history of those Curetes who lived in Aetolia and Acarnania, not only are different from that history, but are more like the accounts of the Satyri, Sileni, Bacchae, and Tityri;

for the Curetes (clergy or priests), like these, are called genii or ministers of gods by those who have handed down to us the Cretan and the Phrygian traditions,  which are interwoven with certain sacred rites, some mystical, the others connected in part with the rearing of the child Zeus in Crete and inpart with the orgies in honor of the mother of the gods which are celebrated in Phrygia and in the region of the Trojan Ida.

But the variation in these accounts is so small that, whereas some represent the Corybantes, the Cabeiri, the Idaean Dactyli, and the Telchines as identical with the Curetes, others represent them as all kinsmen of one another and differentiate only certain small matters in which they differ in respect to one another;

but, roughly speaking and in general, they represent them, one and all,
as a kind of inspired people and as subject to Bacchic frenzy, and,
in the guise of ministers, as inspiring terror at the celebration of the sacred rites by means of war-dancesaccompanied by uproar and noise and cymbals and drums and arms, and also by flute and outcry;
and consequently these rites are in a way regarded as having a common relationship, I mean these and those of the Samothracians and those in Lemnos and in several other places, because the divine ministers are called the same.
Similar to The Book of Enoch which repudiates all of the theological self-speak of rhetoric and theatrics is the Book of Adam and Eve. That tells the story of Genun (Geni) who is the composite of Jubal, Jabal, Tubal-Cain and Naamah: all like the Cabeiri.  This says that Satan taught the "youth" how to form mixed-sex choirs, playing of musical instruments and the "wearing of apparel." These caused the holy Sethites to fall away from the LIVING WORD and once they fell they could never get up. We suggest that people who live off th Word and rejects it are probably delusional and the watching world understands.

Conclusion: the Atonement meant to silence Brian as the burden lader.

Dennis Dewey, storyteller and minister of the Presbyterian Church USA.
“The way to open the scriptures to post-literate culture,” Dewey says, “is to let people hear these powerfully entertaining stories as they were originally experienced: as breath and sound and life, not as silent ink on paper.”
Now, that's pretty arrogant: only clergy assume that their supporters are ignorant, illiterate peasants: doesn't paying them prove it?  The problem with a STORY is that it MUST be several removes from the truth. It must use IMAGINATION which is a denial that the Spirit of Christ had the ability to communicate with we too often "empty pews."  Because that is a theatrical or hypocritic art there is no doubt that it is a better cash cow.

It is interesting to see that the "art of the goddesses" is also being used today in a psychological manner; even in the church. This is seen especially in The Church Growth Movement. For instance, CGM forerunner Bill Hybels of Willow Creek Community Church [a church into using drama and music to reach people] says,

"A person's resistance to persuasion is very high when spoken to...but very low when exposed to drama and music.

We communicate truth through the back door. People don't even know it's happening."
Daily Herald, May 18, 1988.

We can explain this by saying that the arts of the
Muses have a power to lower resistance in order to persuade a person's thinking, and subtly at that [which is disturbing]. We can see the concepts of this same myth used by marketing psychology in radio and TV commercials. Commercials use music and drama to affect our minds in this manner. The power to transform
That is what the Bible and the ancient literature knew about paganism: It is called sorcery by John.

Here is why Jesus used parables on the performing clergy Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites (speakers, singers, instrument players Ezek 33)

they have fulfilled them in condemning him.
Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city

The example of Jesus and the command of Paul was:

Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 1 Tim 4:13

Anagnosis (g320) an-ag'-no-sis; from 314; (the act of) reading: - reading.
Anaginosko
(g314) an-ag-in-oce'-ko; from 303 and 1097; to know again, i.e. (by extens.) to read: - read.

And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on. Ac.13:15

But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth
        the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament;
which vail is done away in Christ. 2Co.3:14

"The word that is employed for this "anaginosko, anagnosis" is the technical term for the cultic reading aloud of the Old Testament in the synagogue. By applying this terminology to the reading of his own epistles he not only ascribes the same authority to the apostolic word as to the Old Testament writings...he also combines a quotation from the Old Testament with a word of Jesus and introduces the whole with the familiar formula: 'for the Scripture says.'" (Ridderbos, Hermon, Paul, an Outline of His Theo., Eerdmans, p. 483)

However,

"With the victory of Christianity and the development of the service came a soaring of the sermon. Preaching became more frequent, being employed even during the week and during fast seasons in some places daily. As the Church during that period assimilated more and more Greco-Roman culture, the sermon developed para passu. The most noted Christian preachers had not seldom been educated in the rhetorical schools of the heathen, and employed in their sermons the rule of rhetoric and the artistic effects taught there, and polish became almost an end, often giving more brilliancy than warmth. The hearers came to look for esthetic satisfaction rather than for edification, leaving after the sermon and before the Eucharist." (The New Schaff-Herzog Religious Encyclopedia, Preaching, p. 150, Period 300-450 A. D.).

The first change from reading and teachiing the text was the BIBLE STORY TELLER: they discovered that there was more profit in entertaining people than in teaching that which has been taught. Jesus called them hypocrites:

Matt 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

Nothing worth mentioning took place, except that in order to secure the peace of the gods a lectisternium was instituted, the third since the foundation of the City. 2 But the violence of the epidemic was not alleviated by any aid from either men or gods, and it is asserted that as men's minds were completely overcome by superstitious terrors they introduced, amongst other attempts to placate the wrath of heaven, scenic representations, a novelty to a nation of warriors who had hitherto only had the games of the Circus.

Not only the remnant in Judea, but those at the Chebar, though less flagrantly, betrayed the same unbelieving spirit. talking against thee--Though going to the prophet to hear the word of the Lord, they criticised, in an unfriendly spirit, his peculiarities of manner and his enigmatical style (Eze 20:49); making these the excuse for their impenitence. Their talking was not directly "against" Ezekiel, for they professed to like his ministrations; but God's word speaks of things as they really are, not as they appear.

Mark Hamilton of ACU,  "A major task facing our churches is the reintegration of the Old Testament into the regular teaching, thinking and practice of the church" (p. 49).

Calling down God's Holy Fires has gone parallel with the Zoe movement to train people to take over the ministry with music and drama.  One does not need imagination to read Isaiah 30 and see that Lucifer came into Eden as the "singing and harp playing prostitute." He/She/it is Eve or any number of "goddesses" or mother of the gods.   Isaiah 30 says that the MARKS of God repaying His enemies and driving them into "hell" will be the same wind, string and percussion instruments Lucifer brought as she walked among the firey stones:

This is precisely the sexual purpose of an orgy as religious rite, and, in part, what the Greek God APOLLO fed CYPARISSUS in the wilds. The orgia, from which our word orgy is derived, of THE MYSTERY RELIGIONS of DIONYSOS and his homosexual SATYRS, were (in addition to the magic mushrooms and other psychoactive potions) rituals of this kind.

Candidates for initiation into the KABIRI were crowned with a garland of olive and wore a purple band round their loins. The dancing was then begun.

In fact, homosexuality was part of the ritual, what the historians in their scholarly dungeons called their "most immoral tendencies." The purpose was to evoke a passage beyond earth to a higher life. That is, "to lead the worshipers into the presence of the gods."

That is, in their mystical dances, continued leaping into the air achieves a shamanic state of trance, a transfer of consciousness analogous to the transformation of the magician into a bird whereby the apprentice masters his powers to join a gay brotherhood "who, by nature, are superior to other men." Tubal-Cain is a Kabir, "an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron"; or, if this will please better, he is one with Hephaestos or Vulcan -- Vul-cain, the greatest god also with the later Egyptians, and the greatest Kabir. The god of time was Chium in Egypt, or Saturn, or Seth, and Chium is the same as Cain.

Jabal is taken from the Kabiri -- instructors in agriculture, "such as have cattle," and Jubal is "the father of those who handle the harp," he, or they who fabricated the harp for Kronos and the trident for Poseidon.

The Kabiri or the Kabirim [the name is Phoenician] were Deities and very mysterious gods with the ancient nations, including the Israelites, and were held in the highest veneration at Thebes, in Lemnos, Phrygia, Macedonia, and especially at Samothrace. They were mystery gods, no profane having the right to name or speak of them. Herodotus makes of them Fire-gods and points to Vulcan as their father. The Kabiri presided over the Mysteries, and their real number has never been revealed, their occult meaning being very sacred.

The Kabiri were also Assyrian gods. In Hebrew the name means "the mighty ones," Gibborim. In Samothrace, an island famous and renowned for its Mysteries all over the world -- perhaps the oldest ever established in our present race -- they were the Samothraces. The latter are considered identical with the Kabiri, Dioscuri and Corybantes. The names of the Samothraces were mystical, denoting Pluto, Ceres or Proserpine, Bacchus and Æsculapius, or Hermes. At one time all the deities connected with fire, whether they were divine, infernal or volcanic, were called Kabirian. With the Christians, however, they are now devils, although the modern Archangels are the direct transformation of these same Kabiri.

Those who know anything of the Samothracian mysteries will remember that the generic name of the Kabiri was the "Holy Fires," which created on seven localities of the island of Electria (or Samothrace) the "Kabir born of the Holy Lemnos" (the island sacred to Vulcan). According to Pindar, this Kabir, whose name was Adamas, was, in the traditions of Lemnos, the type of the primitive man born from the bosom of the Earth. He was the archetype of the first males in the order of generation, and was one of the seven autochthonous ancestors or progenitors of mankind.

And he adds of Osiris-Isis (the divine androgyne): "It is said that this Prince (Isis-Osiris) built cities in Egypt, stopped the overflowing of the Nile; invented agriculture, the use of the vine, music, astronomy, and geometry."

See Mark Hamilton in God's Holy Fire.

This has led several false teachers to use Hezekiah's plague stopping animal burning to say that God COMMANDS INSTRUMENTAL PRAISE AND WE MUST NOT BE DISOBEDIENT. The burnees do not grasp that God turned the nation over to the sacrificial systym as a curse. It was identical to all such pagan systems.  However, not in the vilest pagan temple could singers and musicians enter into the holy places. The Israelite Levitical Warrior Musicians could not COME NEAR the holy things without getting executed.
