Sara Barton Pepperdine The Ministry of Preaching

And he [Jesus] gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, EVANGELISTS; and some, pastors and teachers; Eph. 4:11

The One-Piece Patter which never changed.  Even Gentiles were Wise unto Salvation because the Synagogue was a way to escape the sexual and perverted pagan "worship" centers. The only worship concept in the Bible is to "fall on your face in reversion and godly fear." Those who not crucify of burn up any human input worship by reading the WORD or Last Will and Testament of Jesus Christ" are subject to BURNING.

Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city
them that PREACH him, being READ in the synagogues every sabbath day. [once each week]

Then and now in any carnal institution who pays Bible-deprived persons to preach their own words intend to crucify or silence the mouth of Jesus as the ONLY rabbi.

Acts 13:27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their RULERS,
        because they knew him not,
nor yet the VOICES of the PROPHETS
which are READ every sabbath day,  [once each week by elders as the only Pastor-Teachers]
they have fulfilled [the Prophets] them in condemning him

THE PATTERN OF JESUS:

Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and,
        as his custom  [PATTERN] was,
he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, [Weekly REST day]
and stood up for to READ.

THE PATTERN OF PAUL:

Acts 13:15 And after the READING of the law and the PROPHETS
the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren,
if ye have any word of exhortation [Comfort] for the people, say on.

THE COMMANDED PATTERN FOR THE ASSEMBLY:

Eph. 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners,
        but fellowcitizens with the saints,
        and of the household of GOD;
Eph. 2:20 And are built [Edified or Educated in the Ekkllesia] upon the foundation
        of the APOSTLES and PROPHETS,
        Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Chief or Head means that Jesus in His Glorified STATE of Holy Spirit is the ONLY teacher when the TIRED go to Him at the CORNER or Angle.  This is a quiet and secret place.  Jesus said MY Words are SPIRIT and LIFE (John 6:63) and Jesus is still in charge of His Small flock of lost spirits or "Sons FROM God." Senior and APT elders are to "Teach that which has been taught".  Women have to call the Audible-Visible Jesus and Paul liars

Paul silenced women and effeminate males because:

1 Corinthians 14 they thought and sold themselves as originators of truth beginning with Eve.
1 Timothy 2 because

1Tim. 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, [kept safe from authentia or sexual authority]
and to come unto the KNOWLEDGE of the truth. [Word, Logos outlawing rhetoric, singing, playing instruments]

Because dear sisterens!

1Tim. 2:5 For there is ONE GOD,
and one mediator between [Comforter, Intercessor] God and men,
        the man Christ Jesus;
1Tim. 2:6 Who gave himself a RANSOM for all,
to be TESTIFIED in due time.
1Tim. 2:7 Whereunto I am ordained a PREACHER, and an APOSTLE,
(I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity
.

The Last Will and Testament was put into effect when Jesus Died. No one should be so profane as to lust for Show and Tell and MODIFY the will of even an evil person.

THE ONLY MEANING OF WORSHIP ON THE PENALTY OF BURNING

Rev. 19:10 And I FELL AT HIS FEET to worship him.
And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant,
and of thy brethren that have the TESTIMONY of Jesus: worship God:
        for the
TESTIMONY of Jesus is the SPIRIT of prophecy.

John 6:62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
John 6:63 It is the
SPIRIT that quickeneth;
        the flesh profiteth nothing:
the WORDS that I SPEAK unto you, they are
SPIRIT, and they are LIFE.

To become a PREACHER God chose Him and he had to SEE and HEAR THE VOICE of "Jesus of Nazareth"" in His HOLY SPIRIT STATE.  Spirit has never and can never define a god.

Matt. 18:6 But whoso shall offend [skandal-izō  cause to stumble] one of these little ones [members] which believe in me,i t were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

The promotion of Instrumental Worship and female "pastors" was an intentional massive sowing of discord and offending the "Comfort Zone" in order to create dissociation to enable forcing the BEAST (a new style of music and Satyric Drama)

Preacher is Kerusso defining a Herald. Neither Jesus nor Paul preached beyond what God the Father revealed to them. A Preacher CALLED by God is defined as an EYE-witness with supernatural power to prove THEIR unique role.

Jesus spoke "without measure" or Metron meaning any tuneful sense. That is because the common knowledge was that rhetoricians or singers were Purpose-Driven to decieve, say the widows, and eat up their homes.  GOD anointed Jesus with the SPIRIT which means "God put His WORD into the MOUTH of Jesus.   The MARK was to go, preach, offend the world, suffer and die to DISBAND rank as clergy.

Jesus as PREACHER Spoke only what God the Father put into His mouth: this is the meaning of SPIRIT.
Jesus guided Paul into all truth and had to be SEEN by and HEAR the voice of His Mouth to qualify as a preacher.

Preach or Kerusso must be an EYE WITNESS or must be a herald sent by that AUTHORITY.

In Ephesians 4, Jesus in the STATE  (never a person) of Holy Spirit OMITTED the office of PREACHER and  gave authority to the Elders as the only Pastor-Teachers over the flock.
The Evangelist is simply the POSTMAN who must be SENT with no authority to change the message.
The Herald is paid by the job to one in authority and never collects money from those who hear GOOD NEWS.

Paul agreed that those who Served in the temple were FED while on duty. The Jewish priests and Levites served about 2 weeks out of the year.
These Elders were LIMITED and willing to TEACH THAT WHICH HAS BEEN TAUGHT and reprove anyone who did not TEACH THAT WHICH HAD BEEN TAUGHT.

Rom. 10:15 And how shall they PREACH, except they be SENT? as it is written,
How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel OF PEACE
and BRING glad tidings of good things!

John 8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you:
        but he that sent me is true;
and I SPEAK to the world those things
which I have HEARD of him.
John 8:27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them,
When ye have lifted up the Son of man,
then shall ye know that I am he,
        and that I do nothing of myself;
but as my Father hath TAUGHT me,
                I speak these things.

John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me:
        the Father hath not left me alone;
for I DO always those things that PLEASE him.
John 8:30 As he spake these WORDS, many believed on him.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
        IF ye continue in my WORD, THEN are ye my disciples indeed;

THE PROPHECY: WHEN JESUS TAUGHT GOD'S WORD, HE WAS DESPISED, REJECTED AND MURDERED. How dare anyone who calls Scripture a lie at the same time demand A WAGE for preaching when anyone with a Bible can READ without any personal opinions, personal experiences, sermonizing, singing, playing instruments or anything beyond the WORD or Logos.

THE EXAMPLE OF PAUL AS SECOND-ORDER AND FINISHERS OF THE GOSPEL

Acts 22:14 And he said,
The God of our fathers hath CHOSEN thee,
that thou shouldest KNOW HIS will,  [Last will and Testament: Feminist and Effeminate want to ALTER]
        and SEE that Just One,
and shouldest HEAR THE VOICE OF HIS MOUTH
Acts 22:15 For thou shalt be his WITNESS unto all men of WHAT THOU HAS SEEN AND HEARD
Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and WASH away thy sins,
CALLING on the name of the Lord.

Rom. 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?
and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?
and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Rom. 10:15 And how shall they PREACH, EXCEPT THEY BE SENT?
as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of PEACE,
and bring glad tidings of good things!
Rom. 10:16 But they have not all OBEYED THE GOSPEL
For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath BELIEVED OUR REPORT
Rom. 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing,
and hearing by the WORD of God.

PAUL SUFFERED MANY HORRORS AND SUFFERED DEATH BECAUSE HE WAS PREACHER WHEN THE GOSPEL HAD NOT ALREADY BEEN DELIVERED

1Cor. 4:6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes;
that ye might learn in us not to think of men
        above that which is written,
that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

1 Cor. 4:9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last,
as it were APPOINTED to death: for we are made a SPECTACLE unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

YOU CAN BE RICH AND FAMOUS AND PRESIDE OVER ALL OF THE SPECTACLES BUT YOU WILL KNOW THAT EVERYTHING THAT IS PERFORMED IS THE MARK OF THOSE OF THIS WORLD, ECUMENICAL, KINGDOM OF SATAN MAKING WAR AGAINST THE KINGDOM (CHURCH) OF CHRIST.

Philodemus considered it paradoxical that music should be regarded as veneration of the gods while musicians were paid for performing this so-called veneration. Again, Philodemus held as self deceptive the view that music mediated religious ecstasy. He saw the entire condition induced by the noise of cymbals and tambourines as a disturbance of the spirit.

He found it significant that, on the whole, only women and effeminate men fell into this folly.

Accordingly, nothing of value could be attributed to music; it was no more than a slave of the sensation of pleasure, which satisfied much in the same way that food and drink did.

XV Theatrical performance creates spiritual anxiesty

If, then, we keep throat and belly free from such defilements, how much more do we withhold our nobler parts, our ears and eyes, from the idolatrous and funereal enjoyments, which are not passed through the body, but are digested in the very spirit and soul, whose purity, much more than that of our bodily organs, God has a right to claim from us.
They resemble each other also in their pomp, having the same procession to the scene of their display from temples and altars,

JEANENE P. REESE . Jesus freed males from the role of domination that belongs to the fallen WORLD, in order that they can be truly male. On behalf of women Jesus acted as the model human standing AGAINST the patriarchal system, bringing women into the new order where sex distinctions no longer determine rank and worth.

That's true: There is no rank but there are God-ordained roles.

Moral and Psychological effects of music:

The orgiastic element of its syncopated rhythm, entirely divorced from any more exalted musical content, produced a hyper-excitement of the nerves and loosened the powers of self-control. It gave rise to a false exhilaration, a fictitious endurance, an insatiability resulting in deleterious moral and physical reactions. Thus, when a human being reaches the age of reason,
he struggles against this unseemly and illegal seizure of his person,
not wanting to give in to enchantment,
that is, to go where the SONGS ARE LEADING
The magical induction becomes a seduction and thus trickery,
and an ADULT refuses to be captivated,
resisting the beliefs suggested to him by the auletic. [piper?]

A WOMAN who persuades solely by means of her presence and its perfumes,
that is, by the magical exhalations of her being,
the night that envelops us, MUSIC, which secures our allegiance
solely through the Charm engendered by a TRILL or an ARPEGGIO,
will therefore be the object of a  deep suspicion.

Sara Barton The Church of Christ TRADITIONALLY engages in ACAPELLA-style worship. Acapella is a term describing the absence of instruments and the use of only human voice to create MELODY.

TRADITION is used as a RACA word to claim that churches of Christ juse MADE UP not using instruments. The deep thrusst is that they were Ignorant, Destitute, just evil people. There is no reason that a Doctor of the Law purchased by totally Biblically illerate who use textbooks written by men and prove themselves NOT Christians because they do not CONTINUE in the Word of Christ.

Melody
is a series of single notes: a two note melody was common. Psallo has nothing to do with melody: it was a word marking evil and perversion. Paul used the word and demanded that ODE and PSALLO be SILENT.  "Melody as tunefulness belongs to the 19th century.

Flunked totally: [skandal-izō] A capella defines the Pope's urge to replace the disgustingly shrill of Effeminate singers in the CAPER or the Sistine Chapel named after a General's Goat Skin shrine.  It was never permitted to use an organ in the Pope's Mass in the Sistine.  That changed about 1911.  The Pope imported a group of CASTRATED opra singers for his own pleasure. This was the style was ORGANUM. Harmony meant that they all sang the same note: a melody might be one or two notes.
The Catholic never used the organ added at Cathedrals at TRADE FAIR CENTERS for accompaninent of singing. The organ was played at processionals, intermissions and recessionals.

Sara Barton: This TRADITION [A Raca Word] initially BEGAN because of financial realities, said David Baird, historian and dean emeritus of Seaver College.University Chaplain Sara Barton said lack of funds was just one historical motivation for the acapella tradition

No, Churches of Christ didn't DECIDE TO BEGIN using Musical Instruments because there is NO one in Holy Scripture ever said to WORSHIP by singing with or without an instrument. The Disciples-Christian SECTED by BEGINNING to use the organ--only they pledged because the CARPET BAGS went empty and they payed a reed organists $5,000.00 a year to pump up the UNLAWFUL "Lay by in Store."

Beginning with Clay Tablets the universal bad testimony about the slick rhetoricians and whistle, twang or bang was SOLD as proof that their gods dwelled IN their instrument.

No, there is no "congregational singing" nor any singing with or without in the entire Holy Scriptures. It was those who IMAGINED A NEW WAY TO BE HermeNeuts to give them authority to "BEGAN" Instrumental music as the way to Worship the BEAST FROM THE EARTH.

Baird notes. "In the 1970's and beyond, controversy continued in the form of a different hermeneutic, how to address social justice issues, the role of women in the church, and the use of instrumental music in worship.  in the post-Civil War years, others in the brotherhood, better known as "progressives," took the same approach, especially as they utilized parachurch organizations to expedite evangelism and instrumental music to contemporise worship.

Not even mentioned, by scripture, just like instrumental worship services. Clearly, according to the critics, the church was relying on techniques and institutions RATHER than divine providence to carry out its missions."

There is not a single instance of anyone said to WORSHIP by preaching, listening, singing, playing an instrument, acting or PAY TO PLAY.  Worship is never more than bowing low to the face towards the ground or most often FALLING ON THEIR FACE in Reverence and Godly Fear.

The common "scholarly" fallacy is that Churches of Christ BEGAN singing without an instrument. I don't have space to list all of the passages which uses a TONE making thing to MARK: "we will NOT obey your Word." Exekiel 33 and to MARK burning.
Hymnody developed systematically, however, only after the emperor Constantine legalized Christianity (313 ce), and it flourished earliest in Syria, where the practice was possibly taken over from the singing by gnostics and Manichaeans of hymns imitating the psalms. The Byzantine church adopted the practice, and in its liturgy hymns maintained a much more prominent place than in the Latin liturgy. Byzantine hymnody developed complex types such as the kanōn and kontakion (see also Byzantine chant). St. Ephraem—a 4th-century Mesopotamian deacon, poet, and hymnist—has been called the “father of Christian hymnody.”...By the late Middle Ages trained choirs had supplanted the congregation in the singing of hymns.
The kanōn is thought to have originated in Jerusalem in the 7th or 8th century to replace the biblical canticles in the morning office.
Sara Barton:  “Some people are LEGALISTIC about [acapella music] and feel that acapella worship is the only right way to worship,” Barton said. “However, I myself actually don’t know that many people that feel very strongly about instrumental worship being inherently wrong anymore.” As chaplain, Barton said she emphasizes the importance of “blendedWORSHIP, or the combination of acapella and INSTRUMENTAL music

"The psaltery a triangular instrument similar to a harp, produced gentler sound and would be more suitable for somewhat restrained and low-key events, as would be the kithara, an instrument similar to the lyre.

Both were traditional instruments played in a variety of events, public and private, and were often accompanied by song, either by the performer him/herself or a singer.  Aristotle attests that those musicians came from the lower social strata, and many of them, both men and women, were prostitutes hired to entertain guests in private parties.

A play of Anaxandrides was entitled Kitharistria while the masculine Kitharistes was the title of plays by Antiphanes and Menander, which might also refer to male sex workers. Antiphanes, Klearchos, Alexis, Nikon, Anaxippos, Diphilos and Sophilos wrote plays entitled Ki6apco86q (kithara player and singer), where the gender could be either masculine or feminine. Moreover there are numerous specific references to psaltery and kithara players employed as prostitute entertainers. Aeschines, for example, attests that Misgolas, one of the alleged lovers of Timarchos, had a reputation for being very fond of kithara boys, while Antiphanes and Alexis confirm this with jokes about Misgolas and his kithara boys.69

Schools of Theology and the New Hermeneutic deny that that the Almighty --or Jesus who proved His fitness by speaking only what the Father taught him--could not have possibly know about our culture.  Feminists have to call Paul a liar when they claim a "CALL" to Preach.

This semester, Chaplain Sara Barton became the first woman at Pepperdine to teach a preaching course in the Religion Division. Barton is an outspoken voice in the community for shared church leadership between men and women, and the class is a reflection of that with eight female students and one male student.

The official name of the course is “Ministries of the Church: The Ministry of Preaching.” This is the first semester the university has offered the class to students in several years. Barton said she hopes the class will help the next generation preserve the ancient and sacred art form of preaching.

“It’s my hope that we don’t lose that in the life of the church,” Barton said. “That is what is exciting to me about the class — I am with young people who are willing to EXPERIMENT with what I call a NEW homiletic.”

Sara Barton chops up James 4 to introduce Alazon the Braggart to sermonize about we who lived off others and had no love for the poor. Paul had the solution: he worked when everyone else worked and preached when they had time.

Barton said she brought the idea to teach the preaching course to the Religion Division because she felt that her extensive preaching background equipped her for the role. Barton holds multiple degrees in ministry, including a doctorate degree, and has extensive preaching experience. She also authored “A Woman Called,” a book describing her personal journey to understanding her call to ministry.

T. Maccius Plautus, Miles Gloriosus, or The Braggart Captain

Now I will disclose to you both the subject and the name of the play which we are just now about to act, and for the sake of which you are now seated in this mirthful place , "Alazon" is the name (86)

This city is Ephesus; then, the Captain, my master, who has gone off hence to the Forum,
        a bragging, impudent, stinking fellow,
         brimful of lying and lasciviousness,
says that all the women are following him of their own accord.
Wherever he goes, he is the laughing.stock of all; and so, the
Courtesans here--since they make wry mouths at him, you may see the greater part of them with lips all awry Alazon is the name:

The word lelein is fundamentally an onomatopoetic one, meaning, as Thayer's Lexicon puts it, to go 'la-la'.  The Greeks shouted 'alala' both in worship and in war, and personified Alala as a deity (Pindar, Fr. 208 [78]; Plutarch 2.3496).  It was this same repetitive and meaningless syllabification in pagan prayers which Jesus described: 'for they think they shall be heard for their much speaking' (Matthew 6:7)

New patterns of Christian worship appear to have been more difficult for women to adopt than men, as they had not known the dignified rite of Apollo or Zeus.  For the most part, their religious expression had been accompanied by extravagances of every sort.  We may quote Iamblichus again:

We affirm, accordingly, not only that the shoutings and choric songs are sacred to the gods, each and all of them, as being peculiarly their own, but likewise that there is a kindred relationship between them in their proper order . . . and the peculiar usages of Sabazian worship make ready for the Bacchic enthusiasm, the purifying of souls, and deliverances from old INCRIMINATIONS their respective inspirations are, accordingly, different in every important particular.

Thou seemest to think that those who are enrapt by the Mother of the gods are males, for thou callest them, accordingly, 'Metrizontes' yet that is not true, for the 'Metrizontesae' are chiefly women (op cit., pp. 121-123

Such women must learn that they were purified not through shouting but through the blood of Christ and through the washing of the water of the Word.

HOLY SCRIPTURE ALLOWS NO ROLE AND NO DOLE FOR AN OFFICIAL CALLED "PREACHER."

AUGUSTINE:  50. From this, therefore, let them understand that the matter is not left obscure or doubtful even to the slowest and dullest minds: from this, I say, let these perverse applauders of Christ and execrators of the Christian religion understand that the disciples of Christ have learned and taught, in opposition to their gods, precisely what the doctrine of Christ contains.

For the God of Israel is found to have enjoined in the books of the prophets that all these objects which those men are minded to worship should be held in abomination and be destroyed, while He Himself is now named the God of the whole earth, through the instrumentality of Christ and the Church of Christ, exactly as He promised so long time ago.

Plat. Phaedrus 245a And a third kind of possession and madness comes from the Muses. This takes hold upon a gentle and pure soul, arouses it and inspires it to songs and other poetry, and thus by adorning countless deeds of the ancients educates later generations. But he who without the divine madness comes to the doors of the Muses, confident that he will be a good poet by art, meets with no success, and the poetry of the sane man vanishes into nothingness before that of the inspired madmen

Gary Holloway Ecumenical: First, [ecumenical] is biblical. “Ecumenical” is from the Greek word oikoumena, which is used 15 times in the New Testament for “the entire inhabited world.” The most interesting passage that relates to the modern meaning is Matthew 24:14: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

Further, there were impostors of all varieties: magicians, soothsayers, jugglers, deceivers and hypocrites, 'who appeared using mighty words with a host of unintelligible formulae and taking up with scandalous ceremonies in order to rob men of their money." ALSO OF THE SECTS SILENCED IN ROMANS 14

"The Orphic creeds were the basis of the Pythagorean brotherhood, which flourished in southern Italy beginning in the 6th century bc. The Pythagoreans were aristocratic fraternities that sometimes had a political scope. Their main achievements, however, lay in the fields of music, geometry, and astronomy. They discovered that these subjects could be explained by numbers and ratios. Combining Orphic eschatology (the study of the last things, especially death and afterlife) with their discoveries, they invested music, geometry, and astronomy with religious values. According to their doctrine, the original home of the soul was in the stars. From there ... (100 of 10,561 words)

"In cultic action music was used in preparation for prophecy. Julius Firmicus Maternus refers to this fact in his remarks on an African cult.

With the air full of flute music,
the priests would put on women's clothing and
then call on the goddess so that,
filled with a wicked spirit, they might
predict the future to foolish men.

"In considering this cultic background it is necessary to understand the

view of music as dispositive to divination,
a view which derives from pagan philosophy.

This opinion resided in the old Pythagorean school, as Cicero notes. T
he Stoa also recognized the employment of music in the service of divination.
According to Stoic teaching, ascesis and listen to music
were preparations for the ecstasy which,
along with purity of heart and a relationship with God,
was considered to be the most favorable condition for prophesying.

The notion which was basic to this conception was closely connected
with belief in the purifying power of music.
I
n both instances there was a question of eleminating tensions and obstacles in man
which could stand in the way of the infusion of the divine and its revelation. (Quasten, Johannes, pg. 40)

Abaddon-Apollon as leader of the muses (Locusts) was called the WASHER claiming that the music-induced madness purified the soul.
