Sara Barton uses the Song of Solomon my pastoral impulse this week is to proclaim the message of the Song of Songs. And here’s why: We desperately need public, communal language about sex, and we have an oft-overlooked resource in the Bible.

Romans 1 defines the Instrumental-Trinitarian-Perverted Sex Religion which at Mount Sinai was beyond redemption and in Romans 12 defines spiritual worship to exclude the well-prophesied end-time rise of the original mother goddess.  It is smirked that "a mother goddess can be male". Godly females should not be flattered that they are USED to perform roles for which Jesus gave no male a ROLE or a DOLE.  The Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites according to Jesus (Ezekiel 33) are speakers for hire (hirelings), singers or instrument players.  Worship IN spirit is a PLACE because God doesn't visit houses or hills or mountains.

Romans 12:1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that
YE present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God,
        which is your reasonable service.

             tēn logikēn latreian humōn: 1

Latreia  in the clergy sense is a hired laborer, the business or duties of occupation.  The Jacob-Cursed and God-Abandoned Levite's SERVICE is defined as hard bondage using the same concept as Abaddon because the Jews--as the new pattern for once-Christians--had been abandoned to worship Fire and the Starry host (The scholars missed Acts 7)

By using the LOGOS (Regulative Principle) word Paul EXCLUDES the hard bondage worship of the Pseudo-Christian World led by HIRED HANDS:

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world:

by the renewing of your mind,

Jesus doesn't pray for the WORLD, the Kosmos, the Ecumenical or the kingdom of the Devil.  Jesus said that the mark of the sons of the Devil is that "they speak on their own."     To Form or Transform the human spirit by the well-identified "worship service" of men or women exhibiting their bodies and their words is the meaning of an abomination.

First, the
body of flesh must be sacrificed or burned up:

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the [our] Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

The Word or LOGOS is God's Regulative Principle and outlaws everything but PREACHING the Word by READING the Word: anything beyond the REST or School of Christ is a CULT.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world:
        but be ye transformed (metamorph-oō)
by the renewing of your mind,

The only Driven Purpose and the only RESULT of letting the WORD work else be Anti-Logos and Anti-Christ:

that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable,
        and perfect, WILL of God.

The command for both male and female is to be SILENT "so that all might be SAFE and come to a knowledge of THE TRUTH."  Women were singled out in all of the "silence passages" because they claimed the role of hearing the gods when engaged in music or serving the customer for their children's food money.  They still usurp where there is no Role and no Dole: you have to lie to the widows about tithes and offerings. No human can add a jot or tittle to the mental or A holy spirit made able to read black text on white paper.

Rom. 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Laura Buffington: With sex playing such a prominent role in the art and life of our culture, the church would be wise to reclaim the metaphor of sex as salvation. Making the whole story of our lives about the salvation found in physical intimacy is to miss the grander picture of intimate salvation promised to Beloved Humanity by God the Lover.

Jesus was sent to seek and save by sending evangelists OUT to find the tiny FEW Lost Spirits.  They are IN the World but they are not OF the World.  Jesus marked His teachers as speaking ONLY what He taught directly from the father: the result would to be hated and despised and NEVER get on the Lecture Circuit.  Jesus refused to go to the COLLECTIVE in Jerusalem to be approved by magic tricks because He knew that the Jewish Clergy would be seeking HIM to murder him.

Paul outlaws women exercising authority or AUTHENTIA: this is sexual and can only be exercised by women or emasculated males filling most pulpits and religious roles God calls--like the Jacob-Cursed and God-Abandoned Levites--PARASITES. They are prostitutes because they corrupt the Word or "sell learning at retail" when Christ's Church outlaws giving your food money for the FREE water of the WORD.
Johannes Quasten. In Music and Worship in Pagan and Christian Antiquity

"Philodemus considered it paradoxical that music should be regarded as veneration of the gods while musicians were paid for performing this so-called veneration. Again, Philodemus held as self deceptive the view that music mediated religious ecstasy. He saw the entire condition induced by the noise of cymbals and tambourines as a disturbance of the spirit.

He found it significant that, on the whole, only women and effeminate men fell into this folly.

Accordingly, nothing of value could be attributed to music; it was no more than a slave of the sensation of pleasure, which satisfied much in the same way that food and drink did.

Women should not be flattered that they be called out to enhance the effects of what Ezekiel call Workshops of Evil where "prophetesses" Made Souls Fly.

Women Preachers Ezekiel 13: The Testimony of the Spirit OF Christ. This includes the Rare Effeminate "prophet"

Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life: Eze 13:22

Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the Lord. Eze 13:23

God does not have sex and perverted sex with His Bride which is a parable which those corrupting the Word or selling it can never understand.

A Church is a School of Christ: the only resource is "that which is written for our learning" and the STRAIGHT presentation is SPEAK or READ exclusively.  Eve is a prophetic type proven when women or gender-confused males see themselves as Jesus mediating religioous observations which are and ever have been sexual.  Eve is a parable for recent females who lust to SELF-EXHIBIT and engage in a Caral Wimber sexual act with God.

Jesus said that He did not pray for the World which includes sexual obsessions and god HIDES from the Wise or Sophists: self-authoring preachers which is the AUTHENTIA exercised by women who have along with Catamites been the "ministers" in pagan temples.  The Wise or Sophists are: speakers, singers, instrument players or actors all the marks of SOPHIA meaning music and perversion.

Leviticus 18:21NET

30    tn Heb “And from your seed you shall not give to cause to pass over to Molech.” Smr (cf. also the LXX) has “to cause to serve” rather than “to cause to pass over.” For detailed remarks on Molech and Molech worship see N. H. Snaith, Leviticus and Numbers (NCBC), 87–88; P. J. Budd, Leviticus (NCBC), 259–60; and J. E. Hartley, Leviticus (WBC), 333-37, and the literature cited there. It could refer to either human sacrifice or a devotion of children to some sort of service of Molech, perhaps of a sexual sort (cf. Lev 20:2–5; 2 Kgs 23:10, etc.). The inclusion of this prohibition against Molech worship here may be due to some sexual connection of this kind, or perhaps simply to the lexical link between oår‰z (zera}) meaning “seed, semen” in v. 20 but “offspring” in v. 21.

Instruments, like Voodoo always tells God to shut His Mouth and always connected with BURNING. This is the meaning of the end-time Babylon Mother of Harlots using lusted after fruits (same as Amos 8) as SORCERERS who will be CAST ALIVE INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.

WORSHIP ANDROGYNY THE PAGAN SEXUAL IDEAL PETERJONES

450 JOURNAL OF THE EVANGELICAL THEOLOGICAL SOCIETY  Philology at the University of Zurich, comments upon this testimony: “Scholars at one time gave advice not to believe in slander of this sort, but we can hardly be sure. Parallels from initiations elsewhere are not difficult to find.”33 In other words, Burkhardt recognizes that there was something going on related to the cultic nature of the event, not simply a frenzied lack of control.34 Examples of “religiousandrogyny can be found in various forms in Syria and Asia Minor in the third century BC,35 but its clearest and closest expression in that area comes from the Roman Empire at the beginning of the Christian era. It is well documented that the Great Mother under the names of Atargatis or Cybele had androgynous priests, called Galli, who castrated themselves as a permanent act of devotion to the goddess.36 A particular version of the goddess is worshipped under the name of Artemis

from the people of Yahweh (Deut 23:2; cf. cf. Isa 56:3–5) and the command against cross-dressing [equally a pagan cultic common place, as we noted above] (Deut 22:5). Since the context refers to pagan worship activities like child sacrifice to Moloch (18:21; 20:1–5) and the calling of ghosts and spirits (20:6, 27), “religious” homosexual androgyny may well be implied. Further proof is (a) the use of the term tôebâ, translated “abomination” or “detestable custom,” which evokes the notion of pure and impure worship; (b) the reference to both male and female “shrine” prostitution in Deut 23:18; (c) the mention of the “quarters of male shrine prostitutes in the temple of the Lord and where women did weaving for [the goddess] Asherah.” According to Richard J. Pettey, Asherah: Goddess of Israel (American University Studies VII, Vol. 74; New York: Peter Lang, 1990) 25ff., Asherah shows similarities to . For other work on Asherah, see Tilde Binger, “Asherah in Israel [New Translation of Khirbet el-Kom Inscription],” JSOT 9 (1994) 3–18; John Day, “Asherah in the Hebrew Bible and Northwest Semitic Literature,” JBL 105 (1986) 385–408; William G. The Spirit OF Christ or God defining A Church of Christ both inclusively and exclusively in Isaiah gave us the MARK of God driving His enemies into the same HELL where female clergy who practiced sex in their worship burned their offspring:

And his breath [SPIRIT], as rushing water in a valley, reach reach as far as the neck, and be divided, to confound the nations for their vain error; error also shall pursue them and overtake them. Isaiah 30:28 LXX

Must ye always rejoice, and go into my holy places continually, as they that keep a feast? and must ye go with a pipe, as those that rejoice into the mountain of the Lord, to the God of Israel Isaiah 30:29 LXX

and the Lord shall make his glorious voice to be heard and the wrath of his arm, to make a display with wrath and anger and devouring flame: he shall lighten terribly, and his wrath shall be as water and violent hail. Isaiah 30:30 LXX

For by the voice of the Lord the Assyrians shall be overcome, even by the stroke where with he shall smite them. Isaiah 30:31 LXX

And it shall happen to him from every side, that they from whom their hope of assistance was, in which he trusted, themselves shall war against him in turn with drums and with harp. Isaiah 30:32 LXX

For thou shalt be required before thy time: has it been prepared for thee also to reign? nay, God has prepared for thee a deep trench, wood piled fire and much wood: the wrath of the Lord shall be as a trench kindled with sulphur. Isaiah 30:33 LXX

Only pagan "gods" have sex with women such as with Eve who GOT A MAN from god.

Carol Wimber and the Fuller Ladies:

As we move further in the engagement phase, we move more and more into loving and intimate language. Being in God's presence excites our heart and minds and we want to praise him for the deeds he has done, for how he has moved in history, for his character and attributes. Jubilation is that heart swell within us in which we want to exalt him.

Often this intimacy causes us to meditate, even as we are singing, on our relationship with the Lord. Sometimes we recall vows we have made before our God. God might call to our mind disharmony or failure in our life, thus confession of sin is involved. Tears may flow as we see our disharmony but his harmony; our limitations but his unlimited possibilities. This phase in which we have been wakened to his presence is called expression.

Physical and emotional expression in worship can result in dance and body movement.

This is an appropriate response to God if the church is on that crest.
It is inappropriate if it is
whipped up or if the focal point is on the dance rather than on true jubilation in the Lord.

Expression then moves to a zenith, a climatic point, not unlike physical lovemaking (doesn't Solomon use the same analogy in the Song of Songs?). We have expressed what is in our hearts and minds and bodies,

and now it is time to wait for God to respond. Stop talking and wait for him to speak, to move. I call this, the fourth phase, visitation: The almighty God visits his people.

The Song of Solomon is the ancient Hieros-Gamos -- the brides and bridegrooms in Revelation 18

Laura Buffington: The Song of Solomon, a detailed love poem, paves the way for minstrels, balladeers and rock stars to set their love to music for centuries to come. The poem both honors the love between a man and a woman and mirrors the love between people and God. The Song expresses detailed appreciation for the physical beauty and satisfaction that each finds in the other. It has all the elements of a great love song--ecstasy, longing, all the ways that love can be both fulfilling and frustrating at the same time. Its inclusion in the canon shows that the metaphor of God as Lover and humanity as the Beloved has captured the attention and imagination of generations of God's people.

The Son of Solomon is now repeated in Post-Biblical churches or institutions.  The original Babylon Mother of Harlots neuters the lusted after fruits and makes the speakers, singers or instrument players: the millstone locates the local prostitute. John calls them sorcerers (as with all musical terms) and consigns them to be CAST ALIVE INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE. They burn witches practicing spiritual formation

Moses wrote an INVERTED verson of Clay Tablets after the Israelites fell into Instrumental-Trinitarian-Perverted Idolatry. That was a sin beyond Redemption and Moses wrote Genesis to warn those God had already "turned over to worship the starry host." preachers missed Acts 7
In this view, the Mesopotamian vision of the marriage between heaven (God) and earth (the salt-water ocean) was inherited by the early Hebrews, who participated in hieros gamos rituals until at least the time of the Babylonian exile. The story of Eve and the Serpent, according to this theory, is an inverted version of earlier mythologies in which the serpent diety was originally the natural consort of the Mother Goddess. In the biblical version, however, both Eve and the serpent are cursed by the sovereign male deity, Yahweh. This reversal of roles is thought to be the result of the patriarchal system of Israel imposing itself on the older mythology of Canaan and Egypt. Campbell points out that the serpent plays a positive role in the old legends of Moses, who carries a powerful rod which has the power to turn itself into a serpent (Ex. 4) and is commanded by God to create and uplift a brozne serpent icon which heals the Israelites (Num. 21).

The Books of Kings refer to male shrine prostitutes as common in the Kingdom of Judah as early as the days of King Rehoboam (tenth century B.C.E.) and as late as King Josiah (late seventh century B.C.E.): "He (Josiah) also tore down the quarters of the male shrine prostitutes, which were in the temple of the Lord and where women did weaving for Asherah" (2 Kings 23:7).

Finally, the Song of Solomon, although it has many interpretations, is often cited as an example of the literature of hieros gamos.

That's just fine: John defined the return of the original Babylon Mother of Harlots in Revelation. She uses emasculated "lusted after fruits" and Muses (led by Apollon) as her ministers: they are ANY religious craftsperson or Parasite, singers or instrument players. The sound of the millstone was a piping sound and located the "grinders" or prostitutes.

Laura Buffington: Metaphor of sex as salvation is an ANTICHRIST statement proving that Christ will never let His Free Water of the Word be Sold at Retail: Paul call this corrupting the Word or prostitution:

Rom. 1:15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
Rom. 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Rom. 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Rom. 1:18 For the wrath [An ORGY] of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom. 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom. 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom. 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom. 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, [Sophists: preachers, singers, Instrument Players] they became fools,
Rom. 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom. 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom. 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie,
and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom. 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom. 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Rom. 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge,
        God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Rom. 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Jesus doesn't pray for the WORLD view and said that God Hides from the wise.  The Wise are SOPHISTS who practice the commercial trade of self-authored sermons, religious singing or playing instruments.  It is not possible to pretend to sell the Word of Jesus and ever be able to read BLACK text on BROWN paper.  Paul told me so in 2 Corinthians 3.  Remember that Moses wrote all about Eve after the Jews had fallen into Instrumental-Trinitarian-Sexual Idolatry defined many places and by Paul in Romans 1

Matt. 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him,
Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
Matt. 13:11 He answered and said unto them,
Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven,
but to them it is not given.

MARK: the kingdom does not come with observation meaning religious observations or operations which are called Lying Wonders.  Anything beyond the Word, Logos or Regulative Principle is a lie.

Matt. 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given,
and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not,
from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

Doctors of the law "take away the key to knowledge." Speaking of the instrumental-perverted worship at Mount Sinai Jude says that they are FOREORDAINED.

Matt. 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables:
because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Matt. 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith,
        By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand;
and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Matt. 13:15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Matt. 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
Matt. 13:34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables;
and without a parable spake he not unto them:
Matt. 13:35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet,
        saying, I will open my mouth in parables;
I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people,
even a marvellous work and a wonder:
for the WISDOM of their wise men shall perish,
and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. Isa 29:14

Laura Buffington:  The New Testament picks up

,

Jesus employs the language of a wedding feast in answering accusations about why his disciples are not fasting:

Matt. 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

"The wedding guests cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them, can they? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast" (Matt 9.15). In Matthew 25.1-13, Jesus tells the parable of bridesmaids who are waiting for the groom to come. The groom will come to rescue

Blasphemy is now of Biblical Proportions:

The Bride is the Church of Christ: Jesus does not endorse any sexual content to His School of the Word.

Matt. 9:14 Then came to him the disciples of John, saying,
Why do we and the Pharisees [preachers, singers, instrument players Ezekiel 33]
fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
Matt. 9:15 And Jesus said unto them,
Can the children of the bridechamber mourn,
as long as the bridegroom is with them?
but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

While the Land Owner is away the true disciples will not engage in virtual or real sexual religion.

The story of Eve, Evah or "abomination" is the story of the serpent (musical enchanter(ess) in the garden of Eden. The story of the original Babylonian Mother of Harlots bonds pagan religion and sexuality and homosexuality.  Jesus identified Holy Scripture as the Prophets and other prophecies concerning Him. The Holy Sex is the mark of the mother goddesses emasculating the males and forcing them to be male and female prostitutes to worship the vulva.

Laura Buffington: Hollywood did not invent the
concept of mixing sex and salvation,
and was not the first to hijack the metaphor.

Ancient fertility cults and Eastern religions have been mixing sex and salvation for a very long time.

Mystical Eroticism Pg 59.The worship of Aphrodite in Greece and Astartis (Ishtar) in Mesopotamia involved ritual prostitution.  Under Canaanite influence, this same abominable practice was introduced into Israel.. 1 Kings 15:12; 1 Kings 22:47; 2 Kings 23:7. . . being a gay man or lesbian entails far more than sexual behavior alone . . . [it entails] a whole mode of being-in-the-world.

Like the ancient pagan Sodomites pounding on the door of Lot’s house millennia ago, the modern gay movement is gathering at the doors of our churches, our academies, and our once traditionally “Christian” culture, demanding entrance and full recognition. Notable scholar David A. J. Clines, professor of OT at Sheffield University, for one, appears ready to lay down the welcome mat. He wrote in 1998: “. . . [though] queer theory has yet to show its face at the SBL [Society of Biblical Literature],

4 Clines, who not long ago was known for his conservative theological position, illustrates how far acceptance of the gay movement has come in recent years, even among those from strongly Biblical backgrounds. This movement has come a long way fast. It will not go away soon, I believe, because it is so intimately tied to deep changes in modern society, in particular those associated with philosophical postmodernism.

9 gay theology [Theology is the study of Apollyon] appears to have a bright future everywhere. The theoretical progress is mirrored in popular society, where resistance to the gay life-style is more and more impugned as anti-democratic and un- American.

10 But the urgency of the situation for Bible-believing scholars is not merely the pressing need for a scholarly ethical response to an unfortunate moral aberration. The contemporary appearance of a homosexual movement says something about the particular times in which we live, granted both that pagan spirituality is enjoying a popular revival and that throughout the Bible Sodom and Gomorrah have always served as the symbol for endtime pagan idolatry, ultimate moral disintegration, and eschatological divine
Wikipedia verifies that The dress of the whore of Babylon is similar to the Jerusalem High Priest (Exodus 28:6).

Several Old Testament prophets referred to Jerusalem as being a spiritual harlot and a mother of such harlotry (Isaiah 1:21; Jeremiah 2:20; Jeremiah 3:1–11; Ezekiel 16:1–43; Ezekiel 23, Galatians 4:25). Some of the these Old Testament prophecies as well as the warnings in the New Testament concerning Jerusalem are in fact very close to the text concerning Babylon in Revelation, suggesting that John may well have actually been citing those prophecies in his description of Babylon.

For example, in Matthew 23:34–37 and Luke 11:47–51, Jesus himself assigned all of the bloodguilt for the killing of the prophets and of the saints (of all time) to the Pharisees of Jerusalem, and, in Revelation 17:6 and 18:20,24, almost identical phrasing is used in charging that very same bloodguilt to Babylon. This is

ANDROGYNY: THE PAGAN SEXUAL IDEAL 447  According to pagan esoterism, spiritual understanding through intuition and meditation is the only way to salvation. This comes through a nonrational, mystical experience of seeing oneself as the center of a circle that has no boundaries, where all distinctions are eliminated. As the great modern gnostic C. G. Jung said, “The self is a circle whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere.” 20

From the center of one’s own limitless universe, the self is sovereign. The unitive experience, essential to this worldview, is engendered through drugs, time-honored (Hindu) meditation or otherwise induced trance. Meditation, rightly practiced, enables the mind-soul to be disconnected from the limitations of the body and to be in direct contact with cosmic spiritual unity. In the words of a leading neo-pagan mystic, “The ultimate metaphysical secret, if we dare to state it so simply, is that there are no boundaries in the universe. Boundaries are illusions, products not of reality but of the way we map and edit reality. And while it is fine to map out the territory, it is fatal to confuse the two [illusion and reality].” 21

17 Ibid., emphasis mine. Jennifer Woodhull, “Meditation, Prayer and the Still Point Within,” in The Meditation and Prayer Catalog (1999) 2, states that the 12 major religions and more than five hundred movements and sects are all born of the “same spark.” She describes this experience of unio mystica as “the soundless still point of the sacred.” The Theosophical Society pronounces valid the ideas about God in all the world’s religions—all but one, Biblical/Christian monotheism. As the Society’s brochure states: “Esoteric Philosophy [read proto-New Age thinking] reconciles all nations, strips every one of its outward human garments, and shows the root of each to be identical with that of every other great religion.

Eve was wholly seduced as a BRIDE is taken by the Devil.  Cain was OF that Evil One and is marked as a "musical note." As an agriculturist who depended in rain, there developed the prophetess who became and continues as the world's oldest professional: only women and a few perverts were able to fall into ecstasy as a result of drugs or music and claim that the "gods" gave her a message IF you paid her. This often involved having sex with the god through his agents.

"When tribes grew too large for effective co-operation (and inbred), they often became subdivided into smaller kinship groups (clans, sibs, gentes) which continued to regard each other as close allies. Government was exercised by individual chieftains assisted by councils of elders" (H. Bamford Parkes p. 26).

"In this fashion evey common tribal interest--the recurrence of the seasons, the increase of the food supply, successful hunting--was likely to become embodied in some regularly repeated ceremony, which usually included group dancing, singing, and feasting.

Besides enabling men to express, and thereby to allay, ANGER and ANXIETY, such ceremonies also promoted tribal UNITY and strengthened the loyalty of the individual to TRIBAL TRADITION, for the emotional excitement they aroused had the effect of breaking down the barriers between individuals and thus fusing all tribesmen into a collective whole. Meanwhile, whole systems of magical devices were gradually elaborated." (Parkes, p. 29)

"The development both of religion and of the arts can be traced back in a continuous line to the hunting era. The group ritual of the primeval tribesmen were the origin not only of all religious ceremonial, but also of the drama and of poetry and music, while magic gave birth to the visual arts." (Parkes, Henry Bamford, On Gods and Men, p. 30).

"Awed by the mysteries of his own spirit no less than by those of nature, primitive man was likely to attribute to divine influence any abnormal emotional state, whether above or below the usual level. Medicine men customarily went into states of trance in which they were believed to be in communication with the gods, and many tribes supposed lunatics and sexual deviants to be divinely possessed.

Laura Buffington: Nowhere is the metaphor more graphically portrayed than in the ministry of the prophet Hosea. Hosea is the definitive Pygmalion, Cinderella, Pretty Woman story. At God's request, the prophet is called to go to his town's red light district and propose marriage to a prostitute. Hosea's words to Gomer are meant to echo God's proposal to Israel:

"And I will take you for my wife forever; I will take you for my wife in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love, and in mercy. I will take you for my wife in faithfulness; and you shall know the Lord" (Hos 2.19).

Semiramis was the original Babylonian Mother of Harlots and the meaning of the always-pagan trinity.

Semiramis.Trinity.gif The pagan festival of Easter originated as the worship of the sun goddess, the Babylonian Queen of Heaven who was later worshipped under many names including Ishtar, Cybele, Idaea Mater (the Great Mother), or Astarte for whom the celebration of Easter is named. Easter is not another name for the Feast of Passover and is not celebrated at the Biblically prescribed time for Passover. This pagan festival was supposedly "Christianized" several hundred years after Christ.

The Phoenicians worshipped a triad of deities, each having different names and attributes depending upon the city in which they were worshipped, although their basic nature remained the same.

King Solomon, married to foreign wives, "went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians" (I Kings 11:5). Later the cult places to Ashtoreth were destroyed by Josiah. Astarte/Ashtoreth is the Queen of Heaven to whom the Canaanites had burned incense and poured libations (Jer. 44).

Laura Buffington: The real meaning of what God has asked of Hosea comes through in Hosea's preaching. Israel, like Gomer, has been seduced by other lovers. She has crawled into bed with Baals and settled for money left on the dresser, rather than the pure, faithful love of Yahweh.

Laura Buffington: At times, it seems that this betrayal has been quite literal as Israel is accused of "exchanging glory for shame," forsaking the sexual boundaries provided by the law, along with lying, stealing, murdering and seeking the advice of DIVINERS.

As in Lectio-Divina or Musicians making contact with the gods:

People still seek DIVINERS and pay their price. They do that because the "burden laders laying on burdensome" religion convince the superstitious that they can WORSHIP when led by professionals and "come into the presence of God" manifest by goose bumps stroking all of the sexual nerves.  The musical idolatry beyond redemption is defined by Paul which no one cares to read because they would be hated and never sell a book or ride on the widows and honest workers.
