later resigned. There was “tongue speaking” in the
church! Because of this, many hundreds of churches discontinued
their support of “Herald of Truth”.

services were employed in the 1994 Jubilee to
enhance interest. 10,000 were expected for attendance. Change
agents were employed to conduct seminars. The leaders of the
Jubilee also have been editors and writers for the
publication, “Wineskins”, which promotes a constant

of Innocence by Leonard Allen and Richard Hughes,
and The Worldly Church by Leonard, Richard, and
Michael Weed. (In 1990 Leonard’s The Cruciform Church would
come out; and in 1996 Richard’s Reviving the Ancient
Faith: The Story of Churches of Christ in America
would be published.)
The Lipscomb University including John Mark Hicks makes God
really three gods each with their own talents. This
makes the ONE GOD THE FATHER about the same size as Jesus of
Nazareth.

This is always the big lie: The Restoration Roots are simply to
speak where the Bible speaks: all "apostolic" churches believed
that the Apostles who recorded the prophecies made more certain
is the TEACHING RESOURCES. They can all speak the same
things if they just speak that which is written for our
learning. That includes learning from the first churches
to understand some things that we should not do.
In May, I did the opening
night keynote at Pepperdine, introducing the
book of Exodus. I called it “One Thing Worse Than
Bondage.” (Want to guess?) Oliver Howard
taught a packed house in Smothers Theater on the
topic, “Maintaining Unity in the Face of
Divisive Controversies.”

in John 17 is based on the fact that Jesus

to "use one mind and one mouth to speak that which is
written for our learning" or "Scripture for our comfort."

Therefore, among disciples of Christ they can be no lack of
unity as they speak the same things.
Third: Jesus commanded that we teach what He
commanded to be taught and observed: Peter includes the
Prophets by the Spirit OF Christ, the prophecies made more
certain to eye-- and ear-- witness apostles, which they
wrote down for our "memory" with the warning that anyone
further expounding that Word is marked as a false teacher.
Fourth, in
Ephesians 4 Jesus Christ gave His spiritual gifts to APT
elders as the only Pastor-Teacher commanded to
teach that which has been taught. The first mark of an APT
elder is that he ejects the cunning craftsmen or sophists:
sophists are performance preachers for hire, singers,
instrument players or actors. The reason they are to be
ejected is that THEY ARE LYING IN
WAIT TO DECEIVE.
Another major class, taught by Randy Mayeux was entitled, “A
Local Minister Responds to the Warnings of The
Worldly Church.”
There is the SECT called the WAY: it is narrow and the gate into
the kingdom is almost impossible to find because the Scribes and
Pharisees or doctors of the law are there HINDERING entrance:
that is their destiny and that is their job. They take away the
key to knowledge which is silence, reverence and godly fear. The
WORLD is the kosmos or the ECUMENICAL with Satan as the World
Ruler. It includes the masses of people being sucked in by
performance preachers for hire, singers and instrument players.
If you are a Christian you will belong to the WAY and you will
be sectarian, narrow, exclusive, almost silent and invisible.

Then in July, I gave the opening keynote
of the first Nashville Jubilee — again on fellowship
(and again a topic that I was asked to speak on). That time,
some Nashville church — or perhaps it was a few churches —
took out an ad in the Nashville
paper (I kid you not!) to attack my

think just because it was such a large gathering of a group
that doesn’t normally have “conventions” — there were
