Empty Chairs Rick Atchley and the Law of Silence

The voices they hear from spiritual formation walking the Devil's Circle is not HOLY because there is no
example of anyone in Holy Scripture said to worship by singing, playing instruments, acting or PAY TO PLAY for performing staff: THE meaning of an abomination in their "holy" place.  Rick Speaks excathedra

Ex cathedra is a Latin phrase, meaning "from the chair. Rick Atchley is willing to sow massive discord and bring on a historical tribulation. Therefore, he claims the uppermost seat in the synagogue. At the same time, he denies that God and Jesus and the Apostles and historical scholars have claimed that JESUS SITS IN THE UPPERMOSTS SEAT.

Luke 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs,
and pass over judgment and the love of God:
these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them,
he it is that loveth me:
and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father,
and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Luke 11:43 Woe unto you, Pharisees!
for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues,
        and greetings in the markets.

The Economics of Ancient Prostitution 282. The psaltery a triangular instrument similar to a harp, produced gentler sound and would be more suitable for somewhat restrained and low-key events, as would be the kithara, an instrument similar to the lyre.

Both were traditional instruments played in a variety of events, public and private, and were often accompanied by song, either by the performer him/herself or a singer.  Aristotle attests that those musicians came from the lower social strata, and many of them, both men and women, were prostitutes hired to entertain guests in private parties.

A play of Anaxandrides was entitled Kitharistria while the masculine Kitharistes was the title of plays by Antiphanes and Menander, which might also refer male sex workers.  Misgolas, one of the alleged lovers of Timarchos, had a reputation for being very fond of kithara boys, while Antiphanes and Alexis confirm this with jokes about Misgolas and his kithara boys.

in regard to beauty and wisdom

        For to offer one's beauty for money to all comers is called prostitution;

But we think it virtuous to become friendly with
a lover who is known to be a man of honour.

So is it with wisdom. Those who offer it to all comers for money
are known as sophists, prostitutors of wisdom

But we think that he who makes a friend of one whom he knows to be gifted

fulfils the duty of a citizen and a gentleman.

THE INCLUSIVE PATTERN: Jesus died for the LAITY or LAOS which excludes rulers, Priest or Levitles. The church was ordained for working people to rest and be refreshed as A SCHOOL OF CHRIST.

THE SINGULAR METHOD IS TO SPEAK OR READ. THE SINGULAR RESOURCE IS THE RECORD OF THE APOSTLES AND PROPHETS. Preaching compares spiritual things with spiritual: Scripture teaches a doctrin in many places and ways.

Thomas Campbell defined:
CHURCH:   is A School of Christ

synagogue, also spelled synagog, in Judaism, a community house of worship that serves as a place not only for liturgical services but also for assembly and study. Its traditional functions are reflected in three Hebrew synonyms for synagogue: bet ha-tefilla (“house of prayer”), bet ha-kneset (“house of assembly”), and bet ha-midrash (“house of study”). The term synagogue is of Greek origin (synagein, “to bring together”) and means “a place of assembly.” The Yiddish word shul (from German Schule, “school”) is also used to refer to the synagogue, and in modern times the word temple is common among some Reform and Conservative congregations.

It is a STRONG DELUSION that God ever commanded a DAY for worship.
It is a STRONG DELUSION that God ever commanded any action by the hands of men as worship.
It is a STRONG DELUSION to claim that Jesus died in vain unable to "supply all that applies to life and godliness."
It is a STRONG DELUSION that God ever authorized ANY FUNDING for any funded STAFF to ride on the backs of widows
It is a STRONG DELUSION to claim that God commanded SINGING with or without a Mechanical Device.
It is a STRONG DELUSION and a LIE that there is a Law of Tithing or a Law of Giving

Worship is always defined as the most humble approach often FALLING ON YOUR FACE.  That is the meaning of worship.  Reverence and Godly fear recognizes that  GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE.  WORSHIP is IN the Spirit or WITH the spirit giving attention to TRUTH, the Word, Logos, Regulative Principle outlawing any works with the hands of men.

John 8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you:
        but he that sent me is true;
and I SPEAK to the world those things which I have HEARD of him.
John 8:27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them,
When ye have lifted up the Son of man,

With sex playing such a prominent role in the art and life of our culture, the church would be wise to reclaim the metaphor of sex as salvation. Making the whole story of our lives about the salvation found in physical intimacy is to miss the grander picture of intimate salvation promised to Beloved Humanity by God the Lover.
With sex playing such a prominent role in the art and life of our culture, the church would be wise to reclaim the metaphor of sex as salvation.

Hollywood did not invent the concept of mixing sex and salvation, and was not the first to hijack the metaphor. Ancient fertility cults and Eastern religions have been mixing sex and salvation for a very long time.

PROOF TWO:  WHY RICK ATCHLEY CANNOT BE ONE OF THE FEW LOST SPIRITS.

God  didn't command the King, Kingdom, Priests, Levites, Animal Slaughter, singers, instrument players: God abandoned them to this because of their Instrumental-Trinitarian-Perverted Idolatry at Mount Sinai for which there was no redemption. God saved David from execution:
Acts 7:46 Who found favour before God,
and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
Acts 7:47 But Solomon built him an house.
Acts 7:48 Howbeit the most High
dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
Acts 7:49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool:
what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
Acts 7:50 Hath not my hand made all these things?
Acts 7:51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears,
ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
PROOF THREE:

There is not a single example of God's people, including David, who is ever said to WORSHIP by preaching, by listening, by singing, by making instrumental noise, acting or building houses and forcing the honest believers to PAY FOR PLAY.

Christians assemble to Read Together the LECTIONS which were circulated before collected to become "that which is perfect" the Perfict Will of God if you are A Christian.

Preaching as HOMILECTICS is the ANTITHESIS and, like Rhetoric, is used by unbelievers to STEAL IN while you are put to sleep by the Locusts or Muses.

Anyone who claims that they can use RHETORIC or Hermeneutics OR Homilectios to that which is once delivered cannot and will never be able to read BLACK text on
BROWN PAPER.

SILENCE is the only "authority" for deliberately sowing instrumental discord: God hates that and the "music in the temple" in Amos.
Churches of Christ honor the God-defined and historical pattern of obeying that provision for making what Christ and the Apostles and the Campbells called A School of Christ.  Instrumental music from mystery means and intends to "make the lambs dumb before the slaughter." Or to silence the mouth of the Victim. Or it is historically known as sacred violence.

Strong Delusions are sent to those who do not love the Truth: the Logos as Regulative Principle which is the opposite of human enhancements. Strong Delusions are proof that the LAW OF SILENCE is refuted and all of the Phds and Phdettes and sect say AMEN! Empty chairs.

12.03.15 Instrumental and Trinitarian idolatry at Mount Sinai was a sin beyond redemption because the people ascribed to The Book of The Covenant but rose up in PLAY.  Acts 7, Romans 10 and 1 Corinthians 10 is the EXAMPLE or PATTERN against the worship of Demons. Apis the golden calf was the symbol of the Egyptian and other trinities repudiated by all of Scripture

God saw this Musical Worship Team and abandoned them to Babylonianism at the temple God did not command

You can get a Phd and intentionally sow discord without knowing that God marked you.

Below: God say this just BEFORE and just AFTER Hezekiah's Plague Stopping Exorcism. This is recorded in 2 Chronicles 29: it is the PATTERN a "spirit" commanded Rick Atchley etal to impose "instrumental praise".  Spiritus in Latin defines the personified spirit as that of Apollon or Abbadon. He is the ruler of the locusts to readers is defined as the leader of the Muses or the adulterous musicians. In Revelation 18 they are defined as sorcerers who HAD deceived the wholeworld.

Aristot. Rh. 3.6.3 [3] Use metaphors and epithets by way of illustration, taking care, however, to avoid what is too poetical. Aristot. Rh. 3.6.7   Poets also make use of this in inventing words, as a melody "without strings" or "without the lyre"; for they employ epithets from negations, a course which is approved in proportional metaphors, as for instance, to say that tNhe sound of the trumpet is a melody without the lyre.

Note: Psallo is never translated "melody" in the Greek literature.  If you want to sow discord instead of psallo and add TUNEFUL MELODY with an instrument the word is Melos. That's why Paul nor the Bible ever uses the word and why it is A LIE to make "melody or grace IN the heart mean melody WITH a harp.  The word PSALLO would absolute outlaw using any instrument you cannot pluck WITH YOUR FINGERS and never with a plectrum.

Music from mystery means to "make the lambs dumb before the slaughter." Jesus said that doctors of the law take away the key to knowledge.  Jesus called  them as Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites meaning speakers, singers or instrument players for hire.

1.07.13 Doug Hurley Your Sons and Daughters shall Prophesy at ACU.
The Satanic THESIS is that "prophesying" is the world's oldest profession. Through music and other madness they pretended that they were speaking for a god.  For that they no longer had to work but became the priest-prophet of a tribe. The Godly ANTITHESIS is that only the Spirit OF Christ speaks through through the writing prophets. Peter said that Jesus whom God made to be both Lord and Christ made these prophecies more certain. After he and others left a memory of their eye- and ear- witness, anyone who continue to claim prophetic power would be marked as a false teacher.  There is a large band of purpose driven "scholars" promoting a role in churches as a PROPHET to RATTLE your rest Jesus died to give you.

ACU and PEPPERDINE seem destined to REPUDIATE all of the faith and practices of the Church of Christ which founded these institutions. Not only is there an effort to make the universities ECUMENICAL meaning "we will take anyone's money" the particular efforts seem destined to restore ancient Jewish and Pagan practices.

See Ken Cukrowski Women in Ministry at ACU
See Ken Cukrowski claiming that the old and new testaments authorizes women prophets. Maybe "covered"

All of the Old and New Testament identifies the Prophets by the Spirit of Christ.  All of these prophets repudiate the false teachings being sold as scholarly.

Prophesiers such as Miriam and the women in Corinth and other pagan cites performed the role of MUSICAL SORCERY.  John in Revelation 18 confirms this.

A Disciple of Christ made a covenant to teach and observe what Jesus commanded to be taught and observed (Matthew 28 which nothing can trump.)  Peter restricted that to the PROPHETS by the spirit of Christ, the prophecies made more certain by Jesus whom God made to be both Lord and Christ and that which Peter left as his part as our memory. Anyone, says Peter, who does not teach that is a false teacher: that's a sign to mark and avoid. Peter also said that these prophecies are NOT subject to private interpretation: that means further expounding with words such as exegetice, musica or magica.  That would despise (blaspheme) The Spirit OF Christ, Jesus as the in-person WORD of God, the eye-- and ear-- apostles and witnesses and church history before the Disciples discovered the psallo word in 1878 to try to justify trying to enfold Churches of Christ into the Disciples-Christian churches.

That's why the direct command from the wilderness onward, in all of the synagogues, by the practice and endorsement of Jesus, by the commands and examples of Peter and the historic practices of recorded churches of Christ follow the pattern:
Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time
hath in every city them that PREACH him,
being READ in the synagogues every sabbath day.
The synagogue elders STOOD OVER the readers to make certain that they did not impose any "ahhs, uhhs, i means" which would DESPISE the Word. Cantillation marks were to guarantee that the text was READ in the synagogues to their children and their children's childrens.
Isaiah 59:20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion,
and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.
Isaiah 59:21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD;
My spirit [breath] that is upon thee,
and my words which I have put in thy mouth,
shall not depart out of thy mouth,
nor out of the mouth of thy seed,
nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed,
saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.
When you have to resort to mockery acting with a cast of empty chairs, Jesus marks that as a hypocrite: He named Scribes and Pharisees as hypocrites. In the Ezekiel 33 PATTERN Christ named entertainment preachers (for pay), singers and instrument players. He also included as hypocrites the butterflies who can be called out to be entertained by paying confessing that they would NOT obey the Word of Ezekiel.
  1. If you say that God commanded "instrumental praise" be imposed on HIS congregation with a warning not to be DISOBEDIENT.
  2. And God had turned the Jacob-cursed and God-abandoned Levites over to execute 3,000 of the brethren who had engaged in musical idolatry of the Egyptian trinity connected with Apis, sentenced the nation to captivity and death beyond Babylon, and commanded the Levites to perform as soothsaying with instruments in the not commanded king, kingdom, temple, sacrifices or burnt offerings.
And He abandoned them to worship the Starry Host (Acts 7) because of musical rejoicing in their abandoned adulterous and perverted lusted for religion (Romans 1 etal)
  3. Then Rick Atchley has COMMANDED you to do what God ABANDONED instrumental idolaters to do until He gave them kings in His anger to transport them to Bablon and now Babylonianism.
  1. If you say that God commanded something for the assembly such as saying that "psallo" includes "makng melody UPON the guitar, flute, drums": Rick says that the church fathers agree with HIM.
  2. And God has not so commanded but excluded by making psallio [abrasive and abusive] be IN THE HEART. And ALL of the Fathers warned about the gender influence on instruments in "how to conduct ourselves at feasts" or the common meals (the issue or Romans 14)
  3. Then the Spirit OF (Preposition) Christ says that you blaspheme the Holy Spirit of Christ who defined Messiah's future rest both inclusively and exclusively

When the "scholars" missed the prophets, they missed THE Spirit OF Christ prophesying the reign of Christ both inclusively and exclusively.  For instance, the sacrificial system is the pattern for those imposing theatrical and musical performance defined to "make the lambs dumb before the slaughter."

Jer 23:16 Thus saith the Lord of hosts,
        Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you;
        they make you vain:
they speak a vision of their own heart,
and not out of the mouth of the Lord.

Thus saith the Lord, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah,
and the great pride of Jerusalem. Jer 13:9
        This evil people, which
refuse to hear my words,
........which walk in the imagination of their heart, [twisted]
........and walk after other gods, to serve them,
........and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing. Jer 13:10

> For I spake NOT unto your fathers, nor commanded them
in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt,
concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: Jeremiah 7:22
> But this thing commanded I them, saying,
Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people:
and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you,
that it may be well unto you. Jeremiah 7:23

> But they HEARKENED NOT, nor inclined their ear,
but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart,
and went backward, and not forward. Jeremiah 7:24

Jer 23:17 They say still unto them that despise me,
        The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace;
and they say unto every one that walketh
after the imagination of his own heart,
No evil shall come upon you.

Rick doesn't use the Law of Silence: the proof texts prove that he must hear "beyond the sacred pages" because not ONE of the NACC's proof texts honor the story line all of which associates musical machines for doing hard work with the Devil "who speaks on his own."l

When you intend to hurt people you TWIST the facts like a knife: it was the Disciples/ Christian churches which invented the Law of Silence, Tradition, Church Councils and a direct operation of the Holy Spirit in determining their dogma.

Churches of Christ do NOT use any law: V or instrumental rejoicing or the buffoonery preaching styles was OUTLAWED for the Qahal, synagogue, ekklesia or Church in the Wilderness.  Even singing was a simpley rhythmic text which cannot be set to meter.

The Jacob-cursed and God abandoned Levites made instrumental NOISE and it was called EXORCISM. That is because God had turned them over to worship the starry host (missed Acts 7 huh?) because of musical idolatry.

There is no command, example or remote inference that God ever BURDENED those He serves by calling them OUT of their REST just so they could "sing congregationally with or without instruments."  It is hard to find a spot in the Bible where the text and word definition does not universally connect religious instrumental performance to sorcery, witchcraft or enchantment; the performers were males performing the roles of women and therefore EMASCULATED or sex changed.

That is why all of the psallo proof text are in the context of older males plucking the harp (Alexander the Great) in order to groom a youth minister of the Mother Goddesses:  his pubic hair had been plucked (psalloed right out). Paul warned about them in the assembly

Atchley does a good job playing by using empty chairs to try to explain the "law of silence."  In doing this he has violated a direct command to SPEAK that which is written for our learning. God does not use buffonery to help him: in fact buffonery is a sign of God's WRATH being poured out.  Jesus refused to pray for the WORLD or Kosmos where all religious sacrificial musicians were called PARASITES. A parasite is any one who does not "teach that which has been taught."

"There were, in the Middle Ages, two different types of jesters, morally subnormal (under the norm) but not mentally deranged individuals whose acknowledged, socially "deviant" behavior is acceptable as a source of entertainment: a) buffoons who used BODILY EXCESSES, gossips, and TRICKS to entertain audiences in the MARKETPLACE and during popular festivities, and b) court-jesters who entertained at court.

[1320] and he reeled off a thousand of the most absurd and ridiculous speeches. At last, when he was thoroughly drunk, he started towards here, striking everyone he met. Wait, here he comes reeling along. [1325] I will be off for fear of his blows.

Xenophon, Memorabilla. [10] But I hold that they who cultivate wisdom and think they will be able to guide the people in prudent policy never lapse into violence: they know that enmities and dangers are inseparable from violence, but persuasion produces the same results safely and amicably. For violence, by making its victims sensible of loss, rouses their hatred: but persuasion, by seeming to confer a favour, wins goodwill. It is not, then, cultivation of wisdom that leads to violent methods, but the possession of power without prudence.
Arnobius on Heresies takes note of this eternal problem; noting that John calls the rhetoricians, singers and musicians"sorcerers." Here is how to solve your CASH FLOW problem:

We can be absolutely and dogmatically certain that anyone who sees musical instruments as part of the Qahal, synagogue, Ekklesia or Church of Christ (the Rock) in the wilderness has NEVER read the sacred pages beyond 'gitting up' sermons which were excluded for the church.  In fact, they have never looked beyond tunnel vision at Stephen's ANTI sermon in Acts 7.  They have never read 1 Corinthians 10 or Romans 10 which defines the musical idolatry at Mount Sinai as a pattern or example to be avoided.

They simply cannot grasp that Christ taught, the Apostles wrote and the Campbells tried to restore:

Church is A School of Christ (only)
Worship is Reading a Musing the Word of God

Doubtful disputations or private opinions are outlawed in Romans 14 because they destroy the role of what Paul calls synagogue.
In Romans 15 Paul outlaws Self pleasure (Areskos or Placeo) which removes ALL of the hypocritic performers

Rick Atchley says:  “Jesus never deals with the issue.  The anti-instrumental advocates must speak where Jesus never did.  You would think He would if this was worth splitting His church over.”

But, that is a big lie: Christ spoke vocacally against the instruments used by the Levites who were Soothsayers with instruments and had been commanded to execute any godly person who came near or into any holy thing or place.

The distinguishing MARK between the low class and the educated is loud and visible

is written for our learning in Romans 15

From Ephraim the Syrian and Aphrahat the Persian Sage

To Ephraim pertains the high and unique distinction of having originated-or at least given its living impulse to- a new departure in sacred literature; and that, not for his own country merely, but for Christendom.

From him came, if not the first idea, at all events the first successful example,
of making song an essential constituent of public worship,
and an exponent of theological teaching;
and from him it spread and prevailed through
the Eastern Churches, and affected even those of the West.

To the Hymns, on which chiefly his fame rests, the Syriac ritual in all its forms owes much of its strength and richness; and to them is largely due the place which Hymnody holds throughout the Church everywhere.

And hence it has come to pass that, in the Church everywhere, he stands as the representative Syrian Father, as the fixed epithet appended to his name attests-" Ephraim the Syrian,"-the one Syrian known and reverenced in all Christendom.

From a few lines of Proba's work can be seen the problems with this approach: little of what was created could justifiably be placed alongside the great works of the past, and since that was an implicit target the failure to meet it was embarrassing;

more pressingly, such Christianisations did not appeal to the highly educated, who preferred to read the imitated originals,

and did not appeal to Christians who would not otherwise have read the originals, who needed something written to their own culture and not to that of a past elite.

This kind of imitation had its brief flourishing at the time of the emperor Julian, who forbade Christians to teach pagan works, but had no lasting effect
Rick Atchley: Things Jesus hates including ALL of those things Rick etal DENY are in the Scripture.

Rick misses the point that the REAL Spirit is named Jesus Christ the Righteous. The Spirit OF Christ defined the church both inclusively and exclusively. He especially points out that the Jewish clergy were robbers and parasites: the Parasite is indeed the name of the Instrumental noise makers in the sacrificial systems.  More later.

Rick Atchley says argues that music (symphanos) was being played in honor of the return of the prodigal son and that, therefore, anti-instrumental people would have a hard time arguing against instrumental praise.

We have explicit information about the SCHOOL where the CENI is to teach what Christ COMMANDED to be taught.

This was a home coming party to prove the nature of God NOT in "the School (only) of Christ (only). The "laded burden" or the "self pleasure" specificially EXCLUDES arousal singing which damages.

http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-27479/symphony

The word symphonia was used by the Greeks in reference to notes sounding together in harmony  and by extension meant an “ensemble” or “band” rather than a musical form. The word implies a pleasant concord of different notes and has been used in fields other than music to denote a pleasing combination of various elements. In the New Testament Gospel According to Luke (King James Version), symphonia is translated as “musick,” as distinct from choroi, “dancing.” In the Middle Ages the name was given to several musical instruments, among them a double-headed drum, bowed stringed instruments, a large hurdy-gurdy, and bagpipes. Mention is made in 1582 of eine Symphonie, evidently a stringed keyboard instrument.

ONLY: From the mid-16th century, symphonia (and related spellings) is a term often found in titles in which it simply indicated ensemble music, whether for instruments with voices or either alone. A collection of madrigals published in Antwerp in 1585 is entitled Symphonia angelica . . . raccolta per Huberto Waelrant. Later notable examples are the Sacrae symphoniae of the Venetian composer Giovanni Gabrieli (Book I, 1597; Book II, 1615), collections of elaborate vocal and instrumental music, often for multiple choirs; and the Symphoniae sacrae of his celebrated German pupil, Heinrich Schütz (1629, 1647, 1650). Schütz's collection reveals his debt to the colourful and brilliantly orchestrated Italian style in works ranging from several voices to large polychoral compositions with solo parts and instruments. His countryman Samuel Scheidt's 70 Symphonien auff Concerten-Manir (1644) likewise combine instrumental and vocal ensembles to enrich the texture and heighten the drama of his music.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the School (only) of the Word (only) of Christ (only).  If Rick wants to sing, dance, clap, play instruments or kill the fatted calf go to it: NOT on the Lord's time or Table please.  The REASON that people accept such blatant violence against the truth because it is enmeshed with buffoonery, acting and instrumental sounds.  Music means to "make the lambs dumb before the silence." It seems to work best in Texas.

Rick Atchley says that "Jesus taught regularly in the temple in the presence of instrumental praise."

That's a lie: the sacrificial system had been pretty dead for hundreds of years.  If Jesus had gone into the temple a Levite had God's command to EXECUTE him on the spot.  Jesus went into the temple COURT which was a gathering place (like synagogue) for all of the people even Gentiles. He went there to TEACH and He would not have heard any NOISE even if it took place behind CLOSED GATES.

Rick Atchley noted that Jesus only cast out the moneychangers—not the musicians.

There would have been no musicians around the Temple Courts. Josephus informs that they played on special days.   He speaks of the Levites making the request to wear linen garments and restore their clergy roles.  The Levites are warned that they had destroyed the nations once and they would destroy what was left it they resumed their Jacob-cursed and God-condemned roles.  See Antiquities 20

The Temple was HEROD'S Temple.
So instead of a festival, they had at last a mournful day of it; and they all of them forgot their prayers and sacrifices, and betook themselves to lamentation and weeping; so great an affliction did the impudent obsceneness of a single soldier bring upon them. (10)

6. Now as many of the Levites, (26) which is a tribe of ours, as were singers of hymns, persuaded the king to assemble a sanhedrim, and to give them leave to wear linen garments, as well as the priests

for they said that this would be a work worthy the times of his government, that he might have a memorial of such a novelty, as being his doing.

Nor did they fail of obtaining their desire; for the king, with the suffrages of those that came into the sanhedrim, granted the singers of hymns this privilege, that they might lay aside their former garments, and wear such a linen one as they desired; and as a part of this tribe ministered in the temple, he also permitted them to learn those hymns as they had besought him for.

Now all this was contrary to the laws of our country, which, whenever they have been transgressed, we have never been able to avoid the punishment of such transgressions.

JESUS CAST OUT THE WOMEN MINSTRELS LIKE DUNG

There were no instrument players present except on certain days like the Feast of Tabernacles which Jesus avoided by going up late. In the midst of the performers were the CLERGY looking for Jesus to sacrifice him.  He cast out those who "saw godliness as a means of financial gain." He would have cast out Rick Atchley. He did CAST OUT the musical minstrels--the only musicians He encountered--more or less violently LIKE DUNG.
Matt. 9:23 And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,

Christ in the wilderness defined the synagogue or church as Rest, Reading and Rehearsing the Word.  He excluded vocal or instrumental rejoicing which would be an INTENTIONAL plan to silence the commanded Word of God.  A preacher is limited to teach that which has been taught. Speaking outlaws the preachers tales or instruments.  Otherwise, no one has imposed instruments intending to sow discord without intending to make more money.

Rick Atchley says “Instrumental music is a non-issue in the book of Acts.”

Rick Atchley claims that the disciples met daily in the temple courts; so they must have been able to worship in spirit and in truth in the presence of instrumental music.

The met where the AUDIENCE was: in the temple courts. There was no music mentioned in the New Testament other than Jesus calling the Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. In the Ezekiel model the hypocrites were self-preachers for money, great singers and skilled instrument players. That is THE meaning of a hypocrite.  It's true, Jesus never said "thou shalt NOT be a hypocrite."
Acts 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying,
Save yourselves from this untoward [crooked] generation.
Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:
and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostlesdoctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Rick has to use SILENCE to imagine that they even HEARD instruments quarantined behind the closed gates.

Rick has to use the Law of Silence to suggest that the Apostles commanded or participated in singing with musical instruments.

This is the Church of Christ: Rick has to hear several "spirits" to get paid for ADDING to the direct commanded assembly.

Rick Atchley adds that nowhere in the New Testament is congregational singing specifically authorized.

But, Atchley says that the PSALLO word gives him authority to IMPOSE instruments during the SINGING: Singing is so important that he has a Musical Worship Team. The singing, may say, can lead you into the presence of God. It is true that Paul ALWAYS commands SPEAKING the Biblical Resources.  Speaking is the opposite of poetry or music or silly preacher's stories or ACTING OUT with chairs.

Singing was cantillation defining the way one HYMNED or SPOKE.  It had the object of TEACHING that which is written for our LEARNING.  It is a fact that there was NOTHING metrical in the whole Bible and could not be sung in the Rick Atchly style.

Rick Atchley claims that the "musical" passages speak of daily life and NOT the assembly.

Then shame on him for riding on the backs of widows and honest working people for which there is NO LAW of Tithing or Proportional giving.
ANTITHETICAL PARALLELISM

The Bible is filled with the antithesis between the performing clergy of all religions using music as the primary tool to fool the foolish by literally changing the thinking power of the mind so that it accepts that which is false if it is presented by the "Muses" or the "Graces."

II. Antithetical Parallelism--The thought of the first line is expressed by an antithesis in the second;
or is counterbalanced by a contrast in the second. This parallelism is very common in the Book of Proverbs:

(a) The tongue of the wise adorneth knowledge,
{
BUT} The mouth of the fool blurteth out folly.

Prov., xv, 2.
(b) Soundness of heart is the life of the flesh,
{BUT} Envy is the rot of the bones.
--Proverbs 14:30.

The thoughts of the righteous are right,
BUT
the counsels of the wicked are deceitful. Proverbs 12:5 (NKJV)

Proverbs 15:14 The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge:
{BUT} the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

Rick Atchley says: “The only verse dealing with singing in the assembly is 1 Corinthians 14:15, and that brother sang a so-lo,” which anti-instrumental brethren forbid,

Paul clearly OUTLAWS women from singing or teaching in the assembly. The singing in TONGUES is also outlawed which outlaws instruments.  That was to EXCLUDE what Rick Atchley has suddenly and violently imposed.

Attis, eager and hurried, reached the Phrygian grove,
The goddess's dark places, crowned with woodland.
And there, exalted by amorous rage, his mind gone,
He cut off his testicles with a sharp flint.
While the ground was still spotted with fresh blood

Quickly took in his snowy hands a tambourine

Such as serves your initiates, Cybele, instead of a trumpet,
And shaking the hollow calf-hide with delicate fingers,
Quivering, she began to sing to the troop this:

Go together, votaresses, to the high groves of Cybele.
Go together, wandering herd of the lady of Dindymus.
Quick into exile, you looked for foreign places
And, following me and the rule I had adopted,
You bore with the salt tide and the violence of the high sea

And emasculated your bodies from too much hatred of Venus:

Delight the lady's mind with your errant haste.
Overcome your reluctance: together
Go to the Phrygian shrine of Cybele, to her groves

Where the voice of cymbals sounds, the tambourines rattle,

Where the Phrygian piper sings with the deep curved pipe,
Where Maenads wearing ivy throw back their heads,
Where they practice the sacred rites with sharp yells.
Where they flutter around the goddess's cohort:
It is there we must go with our rapid dances."

As Attis, the counterfeit woman, sang this to her companions,
The choir howled suddenly with tumultuous tongues.
The tambourine bellows, the cymbals clash again;
The swift troop moves off to Ida with hurrying feet.
Crazy, panting, drifting, at her last gasp,
Attis with her tambourine leads them through the opaque groves
Like an unbroken heifer refusing the yoke:

The swift votaresses follow their swift-footed leader.
When they reach Cybele's shrine, feeble and worn,
From too much toil they take their rest without bread (Ceres).
Sleep covers their eyes with a heavy blanket;
Their rabid madness subsides to a girlish quiet.
PAUL AFFIRMED THE MARK OF SUCH WOMEN'S SPEECH OR MUSIC: proof that the males had been emasculated. Ain't it the truth.

Galatians 5:12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.

A. Based on the words Paul uses pointed to the emasculated priests of the mother goddess, Paul intends to CUT OFF the musical performers in the same way the priests were made eunuchs:

B. John Chrysostom understood Paul's message.

Chrysostom's Commentary on Galatians:

Galatians 5:1.-"With freedom did Christ set us free; stand fast therefore.115 ."
Ver. 12.
"I would that they which unsettle you would even cut themselves off." And he says well "that unsettle you."
"A man that is heretical after the first and second admonition refuse." (Tit. iii: 10) If they will,
let them not only be circumcised, but mutilated. Where then are those who dare to mutilate themselves; seeing that they draw down the Apostolic curse, and accuse the workmanship of God, and take part with the Manichees? ... But if you will not allow this, why do you not mutilate the tongue for blasphemy, the hands for rapine, the feet for their evil courses, in short, the whole body?

For the ear enchanted by the sound of a flute hath often enervated the soul;
and the perception of a sweet perfume by the nostrils hath bewitched the mind, and made it frantic for pleasure
.

It may help us to understand that the Greek word lelein refers primarily to utterance rather than to meaningful conversation. The term is used repeatedly in chapter 14 to describe speaking in tongues. Phrynichus, the ancient dictionarian, defined the term as 'to talk nonsense'.

The word is used of gossip, prattling, babbling, animal sounds, and musical instruments. During the classical period, it usually was employed in a contemptuous sense. Debrunner, writing in the Kittle-Friedrich Theological Dictionary of the New Testament, states 'Lalein can also be used quite objectively of speech when there is reference to sound rather than than meaning. 'To what kind of utterance can St. Paul refer? There were many types of vocalization in ecstatic rites.

They have been heard to utter (different voices of equal strength, or with great diversity and inequality) in tones that alternated with silence; and again in other cases harmonious crescendo or dimenuendo of tone, and in still other cases other kinds of utterance. (Iamblichus, On the Mysteries, III, 4-6)
It a blasphemy of the Holy Spirit of Christ and Paul so say that they had to use psallo which has NO inherent musical content when Simple Simon knew that if HE was told to PLAY a musical instrument he would have to HEAR such words as:

Rick Atchley saysthat there is no command to sing only—that the command is to sing.  To say sing means “sing only,” he continues, is a human inference that comes dangerously close to speaking where God has not spoken

God is pretty smart: the word SING or ODE excludes a musical instrument.  A song is a poem: you can read it, speak it, sing it or sing it with an instrument.  Sing never INCLUDES and instrument and you MUST name an instrument if you want someone to sing AND play. God is always smart enough to INCLUDE the name of an instrument when it is included.  God never names instruments in connection with Himself: only those ABANDONED to worship the starry host SOOTHSAYED with instruments.  Examining dead animals and making exorcising noise is NOT a pattern for the School of Christ.

A song in English does not included an instrument. For disciples looking like an obedient child does not think in terms of SPEAK only or Sing only or Play only..

Rick Atchley says “The New Testament idea of giftedness supports the practice of instrumental praise.”  If musicians in the Old Testament could praise God by playing instruments, why may we not do so now? Rick wonders.  He cites Psalm 150:3 and 2 Chronicles 30: 21.  Could it be that we are under the New Testament and not the Old?

Psalm 150 is NOT: it is a Halal 150.  Such praise boasting was to intimidate the enemy: David was king and NOT a worship leader.  God did not command animal sacrifices OR burnt offering and therefore did not command the Levites as "Musical Worship Leaders" but execution squads having gained their role by executing 3000 of their brethren for engaging in Musical Idolatry at Mount Sinai.

God had ABANDONED the Jacob-cursed Levites and commanded that they EXECUTE any person who came near any holy thing or place.  The PRAISE word is based on the fact that God had ABANDONED them to worship the starry host (maybe have a lecture on Acts 7 as post-doctoral). The praise word is the root for LUCIFER who was the singing and harp playing prostitute in the garden of Eden.  If God ABANDONED them to Babylonianism Star Worship then WHY would Rick let a "spirit" tell him that God commanded that HE impose "instrumental praise." The Halal word also uses to define "Lucifer cast as PROFANE out of heaven."Halal.Lucifer.All.gif

That God needs GIFTEDNESS is the meaning of legalsim.  Christ left a "memory" through the prophets and apostles and the only "giftedness" is the ability to obey the direct command to PREACH the Word by READING the Word. School boys were permitted to READ in the synagogue. Paul said:

Hebrews 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers,
        ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God;
and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
1Peter 4:11 If any man speak,
        let him speak as the oracles of God;

If you have talent you can shut down the office and obey the command of Paul to Timothy: to WORK so that he could support the Agape which fed the poor on their way looking for a day's work.

if any man minister,
let him do it as of the ability which God giveth:
that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ,
to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Church is about TEACHING and ADMONISHING: we leave to SERVE.   Music HURTS up to half of the audience
Music also lets the audience gleefully forget the sermon before they shake hands and go home fore the Jesus-purchased REST.
Rick Atchley says    Many churches allow acting and painting, he continued.  Why not instrumental music?

A Church of Christ which is a School of the Word of Christ WOULD NOT permit acting and painting.  The acting would clear out lots of the owners and leave their abandoned church as a Testesterone Free Zone.

A hypocrite is an ACTOR.  A actor cannot AID the Word of God: that would be blasphemy. The Scribes and Pharisees were called HYPOCRITES: CHRIST in the Ezekiel 33 version named as mercinary hypocrites Speakers, Singers and Instrument players which He equated to NOTHING.

As PROOF that human works can AID the Word Atchley quoted a letter from a younglady encouraging them to add the alternative (divisive) service. She said that people CONNECT with god best when instrumental music is used and she has a PASSION of depth in such praise.

However, God didn't put young ladies in charge of the teaching. What the young lady is defining is the pagan ecstasy which was a sexual-like climax with the "spirit" as Carol Wimber suggests.  Paul silenced young ladies specificially beccause the Mad Women in Corinth as "uncovered prophesiers" brought on WRATH or ORGY. She pulled the old witchcraft trick on the males and proved to be the Abomination standing in the holy place.
1Timothy 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all,
        supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
1Timothy 2:2 For kings, and for all that are in authority;
that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
1Timothy 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Silence or quietness is imposed on the performing preacher also but he uses the GENDER card to keep violating direct commands. The REASON Paul issued this command was to ENABLE the sole role of the assembly:

1Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved,
and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
1Timothy 2:5 For there is one God,
        and one mediator
between God and men,
        the man Christ Jesus;

1Timothy 2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

To make that possible and to outlaw the Eve's or Mediatrix Paul issued an absolute command:

1Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach,
nor to usurp authority over the man [even with a tune], but to be in silence.
1Timothy 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
1Timothy 2:14 And Adam was not deceived,
but the woman being deceived [wholly seduced] was in the transgression.
1Timothy 2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing,
if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

The "serpent" was a Musical Enchanter(ess). Christ defined Lucifer incarnated as the king/queen of Tyre and Babylon as a singing and harp playing prostitute.

She will be SAFE in childbearing if she does not engage in activities damaging to the child: music and produce endorphines which may lead to premature labor.

Eve is mentioned only twice in the New Testament and because Jesus spoke in parables to HIDE the truth from the WISE (sophists=rhetoricians, singers, musicians, actors).  Moses was writing an INVERTED version of Babylon Myths AFTER the nation fell from grace BECAUSE of instrumental idolatry at Mount Sinai.  Therefore, those who mock Paul do not understand that Paul knew all about Eve and scholars know nothing. While not necessarily true, Paul understood that women especially looked to EVE (Zoe, Mary) as THEIR Mediatrix.
The serpents, however, of the magicians-(that is,) the gods of destruction-withstood the power of Moses in Egypt, but the rod of Moses reduced them all to subjection and slew them. This universal serpent is, he says, the wise discourse of Eve. This, he says, is the mystery of Edem, this the river of Edem;
this the mark that was set upon Cain [from a musical note]
that any one who findeth him might not kill him. This, he says, is Cain, [Gen. iv. 15] whose sacrifice [Gen. iv. 5. ] the god of this world did not accept.

Theophilus to Autolycus

This Eve, on account of her having been in the beginning deceived by the serpent, and become the author of sin, the wicked demon, who also is called Satan, who then spoke to her through the serpent, and who works even to this day in those men that are possessed by him, invokes as Eve.58 And he is called "demon" and "dragon," on account of his revolting from God. For at first he was an angel. And concerning his history there is a great deal to be said; wherefore I at present omit the relation of it, for I have also given an account of him in another place.

58 Referring to the bacchanalian orgies in which " Eva " was shouted, and which the Fathers professed to believe was an unintentional invocation of Eve, the authoress of all sin.

The word "abomination" is also key to understanding the context. In Hebrew, the word "to 'evah," (abomination) is almost invariably linked to idolatry. In the passages from which both verses are taken, God tells Moses to tell the people not to follow the idolatrous practices of the people around them, people who sacrificed their children to Molech, or who masturbated into the fire to offer their semen to Molech, for example. Chapter 20 starts off with the same warning.

"To 'evah" also means "something which is ritually unclean."
Hippolytus Book V - The Refutation of All Heresies - Satan Worship
They rashly assume in this manner, that  whatsoever things have been said and done by all men, (may be made to harmonize) with their own particular mental view, alleging that ALL things become spiritual. Whence likewise they assert, that those exhibiting themselves in theatres, not even these say or do anything without premeditation.

Therefore, he says, when, on the people assembling in the theatres, any one enters clad in a remarkable robe, carrying a harp and playing a tune (upon it, accompanying it) with a song of the great mysteries, he speaks as follows, not knowing what he says:
"Whether (thou art) the race of Saturn (Satans) or happy Jupiter, or mighty Rhea (ZOE, Eve), Hail, Attis, gloomy mutilation of Rhea. Assyrians style thee thrice-longed-for Adonis, and the whole of Egypt (calls thee) Osiris, celestial horn of the moon; [The bull, Apis, at Sinai] Greeks denominate (thee) Wisdom; Samothracians, venerable Adam; Haemonians, Corybas; and them Phrygians (name thee) at one time Papa, at another time Corpse, or God, or Fruitless, or Aipolos, or green Ear of Corn that has been reaped, or whom the very fertile Amygdalus produced-a man, a musician."
This, he says, is multiform Attis, whom while they celebrate in a hymn, they utter these words:
"I will hymn Attis, son of Rhea, not with the buzzing sounds of trumpets, or of Idaean pipers, which accord with (the voices of) the Curetes; but I will mingle (my song) with Apollo's music of harps, evoe, evan, ' inasmuch as thou art Pan, as thou art Bacchus, as thou art shepherd of brilliant stars."
On account of these and such like reasons, these constantly attend the mysteries called those of the "Great Mother,"supposing especially that they behold by means of the ceremonies performed there the entire mystery. [Moved into the presence of the gods with music]

For these have nothing more than the ceremonies that are performed there, except that they are not emasculated:they merely complete the work of the emasculated.

For with the utmost severity and vigilance they enjoin (on their votaries) to abstain, as if they were emasculated, from intercourse with a woman. The rest, however, of the proceeding (observed in these mysteries), as we have declared at some length, (they follow) just as (if they were) emasculated persons.  And they do not worship any other object but Naas, (from thence) being styled Naasseni.

But Naas is the serpent from whom, i.e., from the word Naas, (the Naassene) says, are all that under heaven are denominated temples (Naos).  And (he states) that to him alone-that is, Naas-is dedicated every shrine and every initiatory rite, and every mystery; and, in general,  that a religious ceremony could not be discovered under heaven, in which a temple (Naos) has no existence; and in the temple itself is Naas, from whom it has received its denomination of temple (Naos)

Rick Atchley says   “Why do we want to make it difficult for unbelievers to worship with us?  Why do we want to make it difficult for our own children?  You can’t open your Bible and show me where God forbids it.  The New Testament was not even remotely concerned about it.  The cross was central in worship.”

Why would Rick usurp the authority and MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE for half of the OWNERS to worship with RICK.  I can hardly open MY Bible in context and defining words which does not promise the Lake of Fire to any one who uses any kind of the hypocritic arts and crafts to AID His Word commanded to be PREACHED by being READ.

NO: Paul said that he had decided to KNOW only a crucified Christ: that demaned him to obey the direct command to GO, suffer and Die in order to preach the GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM.  The cross was a STAKE or phallic symbol: it was a sign that the Levites had murdered Jesus because they couldn't INITIATE him into the old wineskin of Dionysus or Bacchus.

Jesus didn't command WORSHIP SERVICES with the most difficulty caused by self-preachers with no ROLE and no DOLE.  He commanded that we make DISCIPLES and disciples do WORSHIP without exception by Giving Heed to the Word of God.

Rick Atchley says  On the meaning of the Greek "psallo" Rick says that the bulk of scholarship disagrees with us, and he mentions the names of Josephus, Suetonius, Chrysostom, and Gregory of Nyssa

That's a lie begun by O.E.Payne in the first attempt to subvert young preachers.  The word means to "pluck" when these writers use the "psallo"  word they must of necessity define WHAT is to be plucked.
All of the Tom Burgess proof text point to older males plucking the harp to groom a young male whose hairs had been plucked. Rick is willing to encur God's Wrath by sowing discord without noting that all of his HANDLERS from the NACC have lied to him.

A Ralph Johnson a major supplier of false teaching.

Josephus: (A.D. 70)

A. Ralph Johnson: So Samuel, when he had given him these admonitions, went away. But the Divine Power departed from Saul, and removed to David; who, upon this removal of the Divine Spirit to him, began to prophesy. But as for Saul, some strange and demoniacal disorders came upon him, and brought upon him such suffocations as were ready to choke him; for which the physicians could find no other remedy but this, That if any person could charm those passions by singing [exadein] and playing [psalein], upon the harp,

CHARMING is not what we want to perform in ASSEMBLY. Better leave incantation, charming, magical earrings, enchantment, orators or performance prayer to the WITCHES of Endor.

Adam Clark notes of a later event of prophesying:

The next day an evil spirit from God came forcefully upon Saul. He was prophesying in his house, while David was playing the harp, as he usually did. Saul had a spear in his hand 1 Sam 18:10

"He prophesied in the midst of the house. He was beside himself; made prayers, supplications, and incoherent imprecations: 'God preserve my life,' 'Destroy my enemies,' or such like prayers, might frequently escape from him in his agitated state. The Arabic intimates that he was actually possessed by an evil spirit, and that through it he uttered a sort of demoniacal predictions." (Clark, 1 Sam 18, p. 270).

"In ancient times, says Justin, kings used a spear instead of a diadem: And as spears were the emblems of supreme power, hence they were reputed as attributes of the Divinity, and were worshipped as representatives of the gods." (Adam Clark, 1 Sam. 18, p. 270)

AND ABOUT SUETONIUS

Performing the Book  Rhetoric was forever at pains to disentangle itself from unwanted associations with female deception and histrionic art,

because it was viewed as the art of socially weak women and slaves, and rhetoricians of all ages have assiduously fought against any trace of bodily and vocal practice associated with these groups.

Page 34 : 171 and resembles the poet's recitals of his own poetry. According to Suetonius, not only the old poets' epics, but the epics of contemporary authors as well, were promoted through these public readings... Suetonius cites the verse of Domitius Marsus, which satirizes Epirota's endeavor: Epirota, tenellorum nutricula vatum, "nurturer of effeminate poets" (DGR 16.3).

The public performance of epic by this grammaticus receives a satirical representation as an endeavor tainted with effeminacy. This criticism resembles the image of the epic recital in the satires discussed above. Suetonius includes this line in his portrait of Epirota not to undermine his achievement as the first grammarian, who lectured on Virgil and other contemporary poets.

Catholic Culture There are writers who think that the hymns and psalms were accompanied on the harp or lyre. This may have been the case in private singing, but there is no document to prove the use of these instruments in the public services of the Church. A text of Clement of Alexandria can hardly be said to prove more than the above-made statement: "Though we no longer worship God with the clamor of military instruments, such as the trumpet, drum and fife, but with peaceful words, this is our most delightful festivity;
and if you are able to accompany your voices with the lyre or kithara, you shall incur no censure" [This defines How to conduct yourselves at feasts}  (cfr. Burney, "Hist. of Music," II, 26).

It seems to be a matter beyond doubt that, when writers of the first three or four centuries speak of the lyre or harp as accompanying the sacred chant, there is never question of ecclesiastical or liturgical chant. We know how strictly the Eastern Churches have clung to the primitive observance: no other sound is heard at their liturgical services, save that of the human voice. A like exclusiveness is observed in the Papal Chapels at Rome, where the sound of the organ is never heard, but only the human voice.

The hydraulus — or organ, as we may now call it — obtained an immediate and immense popularity, even emperors becoming not only patrons of the new instrument, but performers as well. Suetonius relates that, when Nero was reduced to flee from the pursuit of those who sought his death, he vowed that, if he escaped with his life, he would enter the public contests as a performer on the organ and other instruments. Claudian, a pagan poet of the fourth century, writes with enthusiasm of the organist who, with a light touch, sends forth powerful, rolling sounds, and by his wandering fingers causes the innumerable voices which spring from the multitude of bronze pipes to sound, and who, with a beam-like lever, can rouse the struggling waters to song.

GREGORY OF NYSSA (died c394)

8 . Now since man is a rational animal, the instrument of his body must be made suitable for the use of reason; as you may see musicians producing their music according to the form of their instruments,

and not piping with harps nor harping upon flutes,
so it must needs be that the organization of these instruments of ours
        should be
adapted for reason, that when struck by the vocal organs
it might be able to sound properly for the use of words.

Chrysostom's Commentary on Galatians:
Galatians 5:1.-"With freedom did Christ set us free; stand fast therefore.115 ."
Ver. 12.
"I would that they which unsettle you would even cut themselves off." And he says well "that unsettle you." "A man that is heretical after the first and second admonition refuse." (Tit. iii: 10) If they will,
let them not only be circumcised, but mutilated. Where then are those who dare to mutilate themselves; seeing that they draw down the Apostolic curse, and accuse the workmanship of God, and take part with the Manichees? ...
But if you will not allow this,
why do you not mutilate the tongue for blasphemy,
the hands for rapine, the feet for their evil courses, in short, the whole body?

For the ear
enchanted by the sound of a flute hath often enervated the souland the perception of a sweet perfume by the nostrils hath bewitched the mind, and made it frantic for pleasure

Chrysostom AD 386
Exposition in Ps. 41. "It is possible, even without the voice to psallein-the mind echoing (accompanying) within.

For this reason the hands were attached to the body; for though we can count up very many uses in daily life for which these skilfully contrived and helpful instruments, our hands, that easily follow every art and every operation, alike in war and peace , are serviceable, yet nature added them to our body pre-eminently for the sake of reason.

2. And as some skilled musician, who may have been deprived by some affection of his own voice, and yet wish to make his skill known,

might make melody with voices of others,
and publish his art
by the aid of flutes or of the lyre,

so also the human mind being a discoverer of all sorts of conceptions, seeing that it is unable, by the mere soul, to reveal to those who hear by bodily senses the motions of its understanding, touches, like some skilful composer, these animated instruments, and makes known its hidden thoughts by means of the sound produced upon them.

3. Now the music of the human instrument is a sort of compound of flute and lyre,

sounding together in combination as in a concerted piece of music.
For the
breath, as it is forced up from the air-receiving vessels through the windpipe, when the speaker's impulse to utterance attunes the harmony to sound, and as it strikes against the internal protuberances which divide this flute-like passage in a circular arrangement, imitates in a way the sound uttered through a flute, being driven round and round by the membranous projections.
SO RICK ATCHLEY HAS NO INTENTION OF GIVING ANY AUTHORITY OTHER THAN TO HIMSELF. God HATES music in the Temples (Amos) and He HATES people who sow discord.

Rick Atchley says  that the Bible of the first Christians used psalmos and that they clearly understood that the word meant use an instrument

Pslmos never MEANT to use an instrument. If you psallo a bow string to send a singing arrow you intend to hit the literal heart.  If you Psalmos a lyre string you make a twanging sound. This is not music: you must define the song and the tune.
FIRST:
-Psalmos ,
ho, twitching or twanging with the fingers, psalmoi toxôn E.Ion173 (lyr.); toxęrei psalmôi [toxeusas

The name of psaltery entered Christian literature in the 3rd century B.C. translation of the Old Testament called the Septuagint where, in the Psalms, nebel was translated psalterion. Thus, Nebuchadnezzar's idolatrous ensemble included the Aramic psantria. Notice, also, that the book of Psalms has also become known as the Psalter (or psalterium), from the hymns sung with this harp. Source

So, it was the translators of the Septuatint who used the "Psa" based words knowing fully well that in the Greek world the message was making war or making perverted sex.  Not all of the book of psalms are psalms

Psalmos also appears in the LXX as equivalent to the Hebrew word neginah [5058]. This Hebrew term is used to describe a wide variety of songs. Neginah is translated by psalmos in Lam 3:14 (song), in Lam 5:14 (music) and in Ps 69:12 (song). It is striking to observe that in the LXX translation of Lam 3:14 and Ps 69:12, psalmos, or its verbal form, is used for songs that are not only uninspired but are in fact the product of the wicked, even drunkards, who mocked God and His word. The Hebrew term neginah is used elsewhere in the Hebrew Scriptures of: the songs of the wicked, Job 30:9 (song); the inspired praise of God, Psalm 61 title (Neginah-a song performed on a stringed instrument); and the uninspired praisd of the Lord composed by King Hezekiah, Is 38:20 (my songs).

That's false:
The Bible and all of church history says that we must have athority for what we teach and practiced. No one ever suggested that buildings, pews and toilet must have a divine command.  People meet in buildings because God gave them the good sense to get in out of the rain: meeting in a building does not DISABLE the sole purpose of Teaching that which has been taught. Besides that the synagogue was in HOUSES from the beginning.

1. ALWAYS in the Bible you need a word for PLUCK and a word for WHAT to pluck and the tune. Rick Atchley cannot find a single example of Scripture NOT including several words.
2. Or a really smart God or Paul or even Simple Simon would have known that you ALWAYS need compound word to define plucking a thing.

Psallo or Psalmus never means to play an instrument: each instrument uses a compounnd word:
Anti-psallô , A.play a stringed instrument in accompaniment of song, a. elegois phormingaAr.Av.218 .
Ar.Av.218 .Aristophanes, Birds
Epops rushes into the thicket.

Epops
From within; singing.

Chase off drowsy sleep, dear companion. [210]  Let the sacred hymn gush from thy divine throat in melodious strains; roll forth in soft cadence your refreshing melodies to bewail the fate of Itys, which has been the cause of so many tears to us both. [215] Your pure notes rise through the thick leaves of the yew-tree right up to the throne of Zeus, where Phoebus listens to you, Phoebus [Abaddon, Apollyon] with his golden hair. And his ivory lyre RESPONDS to your plaintive accents; [220] he gathers the choir of the gods and from their immortal lips pours forth a sacred chant of blessed voices.

Rick Atchley says   “Where does God authorize a synagogue?  Jesus taught in one.

Christ the ROCK commanded it After the fall into musical idolatry: FOR THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT OF ABRAHAM BEFORE MUSICAL IDOLATRY
Ex. 18:20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws,
and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk,
and the work that they must do.

Ex. 18:21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men,
        such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness;
and place such over them, to be
        rulers of thousands,
        and rulers of hundreds,
        rulers of fifties, and
        rulers of tens:

Ex. 18:24 So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.
Ex. 18:25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people,
        rulers of thousands,
        rulers of hundreds,
        rulers of fifties, and
        rulers of tens.
That rule never changed for the godly people QUARANTINED from the Jacob-cursed and God-abonded Levites to perform as SOOTHSAYERS with instruments at the Temple to EXECUTE any Rick Atchley who encouraged anyone to join the worship.

Christ (the Rock) ordained the Qahal, Synagogue, Ekklesia or Church of Christ in the Wilderness.
It was INCLUSIVE of rest (from speakers, singers, players) and READING the Word of God.
It was EXCLUSIVE of vocal or instrumental rejoicing.

Numbers defines the Synagogue both inclusively and exclusively.
John Calvin who called for "A Restoration of the Church of Christ defined the Synagogue to exclude anything a humanoid could offer to AID God.

Paul defined the Synagogue in Romans 14 to exclude private opinions and in Romans 15 to "use one mind and one mouth to speak that which is written for our learning."

Martin Luther defines the assembly EXCLUDING musical instruments.

For instance, the distracted world attempts to serve God by setting apart houses, churches, cloisters;
........... vestures, gold-trimmed, silk and [50] every other kind;
........... silver vessels and images; bells and organs, candles and lamps;
........... the money for which expense should have been appropriated to the poor
........... if the object was to make an offering to God.

Further, it keeps up a muttering and wailing in the churches day and night.. But strue praise and honor of God, a service that cannot be confined to place or person,

is quietly ignored the world over.
The pretenses of priests and monks about their system of exercises
being service to the Lord, are false and delusive.

53. Service to God is praise of him. It must be free and voluntary, at table, in the chamber, cellar, garret, in house or field, in all places, with all persons, at all times. Whosoever teaches otherwise is no less guilty of falsehood than the Pope and the devil himself.

But how shall there be with us honor and praise of God, true service to him, when we neither love him nor receive his blessings? And how shall we love him when we do not know him and his blessings?

And how shall we know him and his blessings when no word is preached concerning them
and when the Gospel is left to lie under the table?
Where the Gospel is not in evidence, knowledge of God is an impossibility.
Then to love and praise him is likewise impossible.

As a further consequence it is necessarily impossible for divine service to exist.

Even if all the choristers were one chorister, all the priests one priest,
all the monks one monk, all the churches one church,
all the bells one bell; in brief if all the foolish services offered to God in the institutions, churches and cloisters were a hundred thousand times greater and more numerous than they are, what does God care for such carnivals and juggling?

54. Therefore, God complains most of the Jews in the second chapter of Micah,

because they silenced his praise, while at the same time,
........... they piped, blared and moaned like we do.
........... True divine service of praise cannot be established with revenues,
........... nor be circumscribed by laws and statutes.
........... High and low festivals have nothing to do with it.
........... It emanates from the Gospel,
and certainly is as often rendered by a poor,
            rustic
servant as by a great bishop. [51]

Rick Atchley: Where did God authorize a feast of lights?  Such was begun by the Maccabees.

He didn't approve of the feast of lights: He defined HIMSELF as the light of the World.  For the water drawing festival Jesus defined Himself as the only source of living waters--not to be paid for.  Even the Lord's Supper repudiated the Jewish Passover which began as a "getting drunk with wine" in Babylon. Esther turned the trick.

Rick Atchley:
Where does the Passover authorize using cups of wine?

It dosn't: Jesus commanded that the Passover be KILLED.  It was during the connected feast of unleavened bread that Jesus took a container of the Fruit of the VINE and had it distributed to the apostles.  It was during this that Jesus gave Judas the HIGH SIGN of the hand-bruised SOP and that was the signal for the Devil to come into Judas and cause Him to go hang himself.  The word SOP is the root meaning of PSALLO which means to "grind something or someone into a fine powder." This is one of many paintings which ILLUSTRATE the Judas bag for carrying mouthpieces of flutes.

Rick Atchley says  “No one, not already indoctrinated would arrive at such a conclusion” (that instrumental music should not be used in worship).

No Bible Student or Disciple of Christ could even in deepest madness HALLUCINATE a rational for musical performers in HIS ekklesia or synagogue (Paul's words) which was ONLY for READING and DISCUSSING the Word of God. To that the Lord's Supper was to preach the DEATH of Christ which would ABSOLUTELY forbid any disciple for presuming to COME TO GOD'S aid.  Rick Himself says that the exposed everyone to Christian Bands (not possible) to TEACH THEM TO LEAVE OUR MOVEMENT. In deluding others Rick has been deluded by agents of the NACC who want unity by confiscating non-instrumental churches.  You cannot even SING the word SPOKEN by Jesus delivered by God's BREATH "without METER." That definition is justified because there is NOTHING metrical and you have to exit the Word in order to impose meter and THAT universally disqualifies one.

All of recorded history prior to the Reformation proves, even among Catholics, that no one sang congregationally with a organ accompaniment. The organ was never played during the official mass but for processionals, intermissions or recessionals. The command was to use THAT WHICH IS WRITTEN FOR OUR LEARNING.  Nothing delivered by the Father to the Son "without measure or METER" was metrical. No one could hallucinate singing any of the text tunefully because "melody as tunefulness belongs to the 19th century."  No one thought that they could AUTHORIZE instruments until the Anglican-rooted Disciples-Christian churches INVENTED the psallo proof in the year 1878.  Neither Baptists, Methodists or Presbyterians were ignorant of the PURPOSE of the assembly at which instruments would be a repudiation of the role of Jesus as Teacher.

The Jews would know that they would NEVER be present when the Levites made EXORCISING noise which did not happen in the New Testament.  They knew that if they DID make the noise and if they got close they would be EXECUTED.  The Jews and many Gentiles attended Synagogue which was for the Godly people quarantined from the Babhylonish or Canannite temple as they WORSHIPPED THE STARRY HOST.

Furthermore, anyone who had been around the marketplace where Jesus consigned the pipers, lamenters and dancers would understand that the female pipers would be prostitutes and if any male made religious music he would be a pervert.

Rick Atchley says boasts that most of our schools don’t even try to teach the anti-instrumental position any more (which may be true).  Most of our pulpits no longer teach it, either

We know, and that was intentional to as Rick says "teach our youth to LEAVE OUR MOVEMENT." We cannot help it if the NACC has gained control of a few dupes who are not remotely Bible students much less scholars.     Jesus knew that Doctors of the Law take away the key to knowledge and that is why He picked the humble working class who would NOT tamper with His Word.

Rick Atchley says
God does not vacillate, liking instrumental music under one covenant but not another.

Rick  is using the LAW OF SILENCE since God never hinted that He could be seduced with instrumental music. On the other hand He ABANDONED as FRUITS recorded by Amos those who made music in the Gerezim Temple.  He said that He HATED them and "He would not pass by them ever again." They would hunger and thirst for the WORD and not find it because the leaders stole their money and feasted with wine, women and instrumental music. Rick cannot read the prophets.

Rick Atchley says  Why would He hand someone a harp in heaven after condemning to hell someone who used it on earth?”   “The New Testament refers to instrumental music in heaven.”

He claims that the worship of God described in the two passages is going on right now in heaven and then asks, “Am I honestly to believe that God accepts in heaven what He despises on earth?”

See Revelation 21 and Making All Things New: this chapter specificially EXCLUDES what Rick is teaching from the Church

Review Rick Atchley and the Seven Churches in Revelation.
  1. The Spirit OF Christ prophesied that Messiah would SMITE with His mouth and lips and NOT by smiting instruments.
  2. Jesus cast out the musical minstrels "like dung."
  3. Jesus ADDRESSES the seven churches and signs the letters as "Hear what the SPIRIT says to the churches."
  4. Jesus as the Christ-The Holy Spirit--continues to MARK churches which use musical instruments as WITCHCRAFT.
  5. It fits the Jesus patternism: doctors of the law "take away the key to knowledge" and thereby fool themselves.
In Revelation 14 when you hear the SOUNDS-LIKE noises all devoted to creating PANIC the message of the angel to those STILL LIVING is that time is short: Preach the gospel.

WHAT JOHN HEARD IN THE SPIRIT

WHAT THE BABYLON HARLOT IS DOING INSTEAD OF PREACHING

AFTER THE INSTRUMENTS AS SORCERY ARE SILENCED

SOLEMN WARNING! No one PLAYS harps in heaven.

And I heard a sound from heaven

like the roar of rushing waters and
like a loud peal of thunder. The sound I heard was
like that of harpists playing their harps. Re 14:2NIV

Disturbing, creating fear: the meaning of Apollo or Phoebus.

Rev 18:1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. [seed pickers]

Rev 19: 1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: 2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

And they sung [ode=no tune] as it were a new song [ode] before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. Rev 14:3

And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee; Rev 18:22

And I heard as it were the of a great multitude,
and as the voice of many waters,
and as the voice of mighty thunderings,

Nothing LIKE AS harps

And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God. Rev 14:5

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Rev 14:6

Rev 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

Saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Rev 19:6

Sad, sad that bitter wail.

All "singing" words speak of enchantment or sorcery.

No one plays harps 'up in the air.'  See Revelation 5 which will be TWISTED at Pepperdine in 2013.

Revelation is the FINAL message from Jesus speaking as The Holy Spirit
of the Prophetic type, the teachings of Jesus and the end of all things.
Revelation 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: [parable]
and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne,
were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
Revelation 4:7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf,
and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
Dan 7:20 And of the ten horns that were in his head,
        and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell;
even of that horn that had eyes,
and a mouth that spake very great things,
whose look was more stout than his fellows.
H7162 qeren keh'-ren (Chaldee); corresponding to H7161 ; a horn (literally or for sound):—horn, cornet.
H7161 qeren keh'-ren From H7160 ; a horn (as projecting); by implication a flask, cornet; by resemblance an elephant’s tooth (that is, ivory), a corner (of the altar), a peak (of a mountain), a ray (of light); figuratively power:— X hill, horn.

DON'T FOLLOW THE PEPPERDINE PLOT

Daniel 3:5 That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer,
and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
Daniel 3:6 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour
be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

The BEASTS (a new style of music and drama) will have to fall on their face and not PLAY but it will be too late.

THIS BEAST IS DEFINED AS:

Rev 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
It is clear that Rick Atchley had his Purpose Driven Plot long before the NACC fed him the proof texts without any need for the Bible which repudiates all instrumentalists as despisers of the teaching role of church.
